- Madsen, on 10/10/2007, -3/+32This is by far the most disturbing documentary I’ve ever watched…The fates of these kids are absolutely horrific. Let me put it this way: "Black tar heroin - Dark end of the street" makes "Christian F." look like a walk in the park!
I showed it to my 9th graders a couple of years ago, and they were…well…shell shocked to say the least. If you should ever watch a "movie" in it's entire length on your computer…this is the one…Don’t miss it!- capiCrimm, on 11/07/2007, -5/+40did you tell them the reason black tar heroin exists is because of the drug prohibition? That by outlawing and pushing drug users to corners of society , and by stigmatizing them, we've only made the problem worse? Or did you just tell them, "drugs are bad."?
- Madsen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No I didn't...that would be indoctrination.
- davotoula, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means...
- Reziarfg, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Dugg for Princess Bride reference.
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and things like DARE and banning pro-legalization shirts aren't indoctrination?
- davotoula, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means...
- Madsen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No I didn't...that would be indoctrination.
- knowyourrights, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11did you all notice these people's pasts? grandfather tries to commit suicide from golden gate, one got his hips braced because his grandfather raped him when he was 5, the other kids' mother was a lesbian on heroine when he had the kid, the kid doesn't know who his father is, etc. etc. It seems to me that these kids really are victims of a ***** up society.
- capiCrimm, on 11/07/2007, -5/+40did you tell them the reason black tar heroin exists is because of the drug prohibition? That by outlawing and pushing drug users to corners of society , and by stigmatizing them, we've only made the problem worse? Or did you just tell them, "drugs are bad."?
- nooreazy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Meth is to the 20's,as heroin was in the 80's?
- DJCult, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I thought alcohol was big in the 20's.
- matrixbandit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I think he means the 2000's
- diizy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Oh boy, I can't wait to see the documentary on cheese heroin.
- diizy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Man, after watching that documentary... I don't know what is worse then that life.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+2Yeah, my veins feel like ***** just from watching this video.
- thumperings, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and i worry about my cholesterol .. damn .. I also realized how amazing the body is to survive such abuse. When the girl was pouring apple jacks into a styrafoam cup with milk I was like YEAH EAT good for you, and I almost thought just maybe, she could survive to od age if only she ate nothing but apple jacks and milk (as long as the drugs were taken out of the equation), yet in my own life, I eat MCdonalds once a month, and I feel like it will lead to an early death. It's all relative I guess
- jpa82, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1What are you talking about? These people are doing drugs because drugs make them feel good, not because it's something they don't want to do. They get to feel intense pleasure many times a day, pleasure that most 'normal' people who work for a living barely ever get to experience. Afterwards they hit the street and receive handouts from the stupid or sympathetic people who think they are doing them a favour. If they spend all of their money on drugs and are starving they can go to a homeless shelter and receive free food. Feel sorry for the people in the world who don't live in wealthy countries and don't have the luxury of living their lives the way they want to. Not the drug addicts.

- Masna, on 11/07/2007, -5/+58I don't know man, I still think you've gotta be the dumbest mother ***** in the world to try heroine.
Just stick to weed, please...- asdfuiop, on 10/10/2007, -21/+12Maybe you should lay off the weed and go back to 'grammer' school
- Matt-lars, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16What is this grammer you speak of.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -2/+15Can it be inhaled?
- 89vision, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15'grammar'
- Bluntman4000, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Maybe you should quite being such a stuck up '*****', and Go Smoke Some Weed!...
- thumperings, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2yEa umm what's witH the Random capS.
- stonedgeek, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5Maybe you should stfu
- Maynym, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Maybe you should stop assuming english is the first language of everyone here? Not everyone is from America here, you know. And Europeans usually know many languages, so english may not even be his second lang. , maybe third, fourth.
So you don`t have to bully him for spelling "heroin" wrong which is a minor mistake too.
- Matt-lars, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16What is this grammer you speak of.
- DJCult, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12I dunno, I REALLY want to try Psylocke.
- wootup, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4. . . X-Men?
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+9***** yeah, she's hot.
- wootup, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4. . . X-Men?
- stonedgeek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11I'll smoke to that
- berb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I tried heroin once. Granted I didn't inject it (afraid to death of needles) but I'm still alive.
- staffrocket, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some people probably tried it while they were drunk, or didn't know what cocaine looks like and snorted some heroin instead.
- asdfuiop, on 10/10/2007, -21/+12Maybe you should lay off the weed and go back to 'grammer' school
- hippykiller, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Black tar Heroin...Dark side of the street. Well no *****...!
- Marijuana, on 10/20/2007, -7/+20I won't stop saying it, stick to Marijuana.
- Knucklecallus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6***** yeah
- stonedgeek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5legalize it
- Bluntman4000, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5No Victim, No Crime!...
- iziizi, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1Marijuana made me want to try other drugs, and i did - luckily i am not the addictive type.
- puto, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2It like put like a gun to your head and *****?
- iziizi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3yeah, a dead plant did.
the guy said, stick to Marijuana, my point is; is that most people will start by taking weed - it will be there first hit of anything and allot of people will go from there to doing more serious drugs. Marijuana is just a catalyst for many. - Mardi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yeah, but only because marijuana is illegal. You don't start drinking alcohol and then go "hey, let's try heroine", now do you?
- iziizi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3yeah, a dead plant did.
- puto, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2It like put like a gun to your head and *****?
- Kiloboba, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Well where oh where does that precious black tar come from? Not here in the U.S. and how does it get to the streets?
- Theoxenmooving, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20If there's one thing the Taliban was good at, it was keeping the opium down.
- Powerlock, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1636% increase in Afghanistan's opium production last year - 93% of opiates worldwide come from Afghanistan now.
- asdfrewq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I'd like to see where your statistics are coming from. A quick wikipedia search tells me black tar heroin is primarily produced in Mexico. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_tar_heroin Obviously not exactly a conclusive source, but still more credible then a random digg comment. No offence.
- airquotes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Black tar heroin which is found mostly on the west coast here in the US, does largly come from mexico and south america. It is essentially a more simplified heroin, the raw opium is reacted with acetic anhydride without ever being converted to crude morphine first. Here in nyc you usually find white powder heroin which is a bit more complex to make and does come from the mid-east/asia ususally

- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Taliban kept opium down? That's the biggest line of misinformation and ***** in this Digg. Opium production flourished under Taliban rule, they did almost nothing to thwart it. And who do you think it's skyrocketing under now? It's not like Helmand and the southern provinces are under Afghanistan/US control. Taliban uses opium to fund the insurgency just like they used it to fund Afghanistan pre-invasion. Please look into real facts (i.e. UN Afghanistan Poppy Production Reports for 1990-2007) for the real truth instead of spewing the same WRONG apologist propaganda: http://www.unodc.org/pdf/research/AFG07_ExSum_web.pdf - pages 3 to 5.
- yes_its_me, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Glad to see someone is informed and concerned with facts rather then just vomiting up some second hand information they heard at a party like Powerlock just did
- bib4tuna, on 10/15/2007, -2/+25i'll save you 1:14... black tar heroin = bad
- Bamont, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5My cousin is now 28, and spent the last 10 years of his life trying to fight this addiction. He was also a very intelligent young man, who had a lot of potential for being successful in life. Unfortunately, the allure of a party life overtook him when he discovered Bar. After four rehab visits and a lot of family support - he's now living in his own apartment.
Sounds like a real success story, aside from the fact that I'm leaving out his IQ is on the same level as someone who is considered clinically retarded. Some adverse affects of trying to get off heroin sometimes result in people's nervous systems going haywire. I should probably also mention that he's blind in one eye, has scars all over his body, and has a prosthetic limb. All of these things occurred from life on the street, and while he was under the influence.
For people who say that the drugs cause no adverse affects, watch this movie and see if its really "propaganda". - RyukShinigami, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2*****, you could have put a spoiler alert !

- helloian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11THe most sobering documentary I have ever seen. Saw it when it debuted and have recommended it ever since. amazing.
-Ian- thumperings, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3most sobering documentary, yet the least sober.
- Eshestun, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3How fitting! We were talking about drugs and drug abuse in my Contemporary Moral Problems class the other day.
This'll go great in the class forum! - tikited, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1yikes this looks so scary every few mins from the film. one of guys who has blonde hair looks like Bill S. Preston, Esq. from the bill and ted movie. this movie also feels so close to early 90s instead, but a creepy flim.
This film feels so real that you what know what happened to them or where they now. - parax, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Black tar heroin was only was only dangerous back in 1981, when this was made. Using our modern perspective (and thanks to TheTruth.com) we can see the more serious problem with the people in this video is that they're smoking cigarettes. /sarcasm
- diizy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Black tar heroin in 2007 = Cheese heroin.
- Chasuk, on 10/10/2007, -12/+7So, if you read on Digg that some dumbass had died ***** a light socket, would you care? No, you would nominate him for a Darwin Award. There are just some things in life that one should not do. ***** a light socket is one of them. Heroin users are Darwin Award candidates, so why the sudden compassion? We should be thankful that they are eliminating themselves from the gene pool.
- 89vision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9For anyone here thinking about ***** a light socket, its ok as long as the switch is turned off!
- dunkyp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3wouldn't take that as gospel though if you want to ***** it go ahead
- frenchmeat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Agreed also.
- DesignEx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I was going to dig you down, because some users are arrogant and think they can just try it once and that's it, but your comment was pretty hilarious so +1.
- smhTheory, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0tried tar (smoked and snorted in a "mudslide") And some much better/purer powder. you can use once and thats that. anyone that puts a needle in their arm is already in deaths waiting room before anything hits the cooker.

- Menoats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Ya Heroin is pretty bad. People use to debate which is worse Crack or Heroin, then Meth came and everyone just dropped their jaw in the latest cheapest most harmful advancement in the drug industry. Check it out http://video.google.com/url?docid=1502228652577988941&esrc=sr8&ev=v&len=3077&q=crystal%2Bmeth%2Bduration%3Along&srcurl=http%3A%2F%2Fvideo.google.com%2Fvideoplay%3Fdocid%3D1502228652577988941&vidurl=%2Fvideoplay%3Fdocid%3D1502228652577988941%26q%3Dcrystal%2Bmeth%2Bduration%253Along%26total%3D19%26start%3D0%26num%3D10%26so%3D0%26type%3Dsearch%26plindex%3D7&usg=AL29H21T7Wy4kActI2nZ8B-xpfz7Gfqk0w
- tearor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1She's claiming in this video, you can shoot up a quarter gram of meth in one shot??? You're talking heart failure. Nobody can hit a quarter in one shot
- MASTERPL, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bs. Heroin is multiple times more addictive and harder to quit.
- rictek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Wrong, look at a physiology textbook. Nicotine is considered one of the most addictive drugs followed by meth, crack, valium, alcohol, then heroin. A lot of people try it and never get addicted, it's only the few that use heavily that get the vicious addiction.
- Smuikas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Heh. The woman on the docu says that it "Combines the upper of Cocaine with the delusions of LSD" .... I haven't used meth, but from what I understand it's more of a deleriant - think a high dose of ambien, benadryl, etc. You see things that aren't there, and hear voices that aren't there - but they're things that you would think are supposed to be there.
I haven't done LSD either, but from what I've heard other psychedelics - like the synthetic phenethylamines 2CI, 2CB and 2CE; mescaline; 5-meo-DMT; mushroms; and so on - give you an altered state of perception where you think in more than one dimension, pretty repeating patterns, "breathing" textures, and so on. It sucks how she paints psychedelics in the same light as meth.
- hokeywebb22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11It was 1 in the morning and i just wanted to see a clip to see what it was about and ended up watching the entire thing.
That was one the most impressive documenteries I have ever seen. It was just amazing to see how these people live and how messed up their lives are and how they know but can't change. - Urusai, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Let me tell you about drugs, kids...drugs are bad, mm'kay?
- kingvik, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Suck my balls.
- SNIa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Deeply Disturbing. Even more so knowing this will only get worse before it gets better :S
- dainfagerholm, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1I agree that heroin is not the best thing to take up as a hobby, but I would much rather use heroin than meth. Pure heroin is much much less harmful to your body than meth. It essentially is converted into morphine, which mimics the action of (naturally occurring) endorphins. If I had to choose a hard drug to abuse it would definitely be heroin. Hooray for heroin! Cheers!
- adraft, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yeah and I would rather slit my wrists vertically than shoot myself in the temple with a shotgun. Seriously what point are you trying to make? Both decisions suck.
- tearor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I don't know why they don't just smoke it
- max1574, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1injecting gives a more instant and intense high
- Switchnig, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3it's an incredible high, you should try it
- DCUK, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2Stupid junkie *****
- frenchmeat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Seriously... Look I watched the whole thing, and these people are so ***** dumb that they deserve the end result
Sorry, but its a goddamned fact none of those people had any injury that would stop them from working and each of them wanted to do it because "they had nothing else to do"
How are you suposed to feel sorry for them - this is the life they chose and they can always get help but they'd rather get high
So you get aids and then keep getting high - That documentary was depressing and gut wrenching but those people are idiots.- DCUK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Agreed. . . . . can't feel any pity for self destruction.
- DCUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1lol @ smackhead sympathizers digging me down.
Dirty smackheads.
- frenchmeat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Seriously... Look I watched the whole thing, and these people are so ***** dumb that they deserve the end result

- ElMoustache, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2awesome
- jmnugent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow. thats hardcore, and moving. hard to watch. very eyeopening. reminds me (even though i think I'm fairly odd) how "normal" my life really is. Such strange dichotomy to see people who are beautiful yet leading such tragic lives.
- lnf69, on 10/10/2007, -14/+2Burried as War On Drugs Propaganda.
- DCUK, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I suggest you start shooting up and report back in a year ;)
- lnf69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There are many more intelligent ways to deal with the problem of drug abuse then declaring an imaginary war on an imaginary enemy.

Idiot.- lnf69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'll say the same to you, even though you are both the idiots:

- adraft, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4God damn welfare, I got really angry when it said the one girl quit, got on welfare, and started again. Don't get me wrong, some people deserve it. Heroin addicts do not fit on that list. Some of you may disagree, but I come from a neighborhood where two people in government paid housing and on welfare were arrested for attempted murder after a crack deal gone bad, and another in the same type of living situation was busted for dealing weed and possession of an unregistered firearm while on parole. ***** the broken welfare program.
- fuckingusername, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2non flash version XviD much better qaulity
http://btjunkie.org/search?q=Black+Tar+Heroin%3A+The+Dark+End+of+the+Street - YouandWhoseArmy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Anyone who wants to really be enlightened about drug use should check out the book Licit & Illicit Drugs. The only harmful effects of heroin itself are addiction, everything else is caused by prohibition. The book was already dugg so check it out : http://www.digg.com/health/Full_Text_Consumers_Union_Report_on_Licit_Illicit_Drugs
- stinkypyper, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Am I the only one who notices that these people are a ***** clique. They dress, talk, and look all the same. Even all the squeegee kids, squatters, etc... where I live are all the same look, that grungie punk rock misfits thing going on.
This was filmed between 1995 and 1998 and it is probably safe to say the neighborhoods in San Fransisco don't look like that any more. - Gneisbaard, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1This would be one of those documentaries that you regret watching afterwards?
- IanPatterson, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Hit the bong instead
- skull24, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5***** is ***** sad! War on drug has done nothing.

- NiTsuDi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Does anyone know what happened to these kids?
Was there ever a follow up done? - ZRaven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Very disturbing documentary. I have known some people involved in this trap and they are truly lost souls. The drug is so unpredictable, one may not get addicted the first time, or maybe one will. But addicted one will be over time. And once addicted it is almost impossible to kick. Plus, as everyone knows; D.A.R.E. (Drugs Are Really Expensive)
- elscorcho717, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I watched the whole thing and here's my 2 cents for anyone who's talking ***** about these people. Chances are you are much more well-adjusted than they are and have a lot more to live for. It's easy to keep shooting heroin when you're already homeless and have AIDS because, well... what the ***** else are you going to do? Of course it was stupid for them to do this in the first place, but you have to see that these people come from broken homes and ***** situations in general.
- robtaylor550, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0worth the watch 100%
- Whatup, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Well, get ready for another heroin epidemic, thanks to our friends in the democratic republic of Afghanistan and their favorite cash crop: opium.
http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/09/11/asia/golden.php - ThisIsMyName, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I've been showing this movie to friends since it 1st aired on HBO.
It should be required viewing for all kids when they hit the age of 14 in my opinion. - mrfunktastic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1@iziizi
Marijuana didn't make you do anything. You yourself chose to try other things. The fact that MJ is classified illegal is the only thing it has in common with the dangerous drugs.
What made you want to try Marijuana? Whatever that was (curiosity? friends?), blame that for you you wanting to try the others. - spragg101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Im really interested in finding out where these guys and girls are now. I am not having any luck
- punwin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Me too, and apparently there is a follow up narrated by Tracey from the first doc, but I havent been able to find it
- Tishstarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I watched it on the edge of my seat. The tragedy of the lost souls on the screen, Tracy said she wanted to be a lawyer.....if she would have "kicked" I think she might have been good with lost souls like hers. Great job on the doc. I hope a lot of Teens see this and make better decisions about their future.
- dj4site, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2This is sadness wrapped in despair with a side serving of death. Anybody who watches it and STILL decides to take hard drugs is frankly too stupid for words.
