- zero_bishop, on 10/12/2007, -2/+134Starts off, Yay boobs.
Then it gets depressing. - t3hCyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+53Answer: F.C.C.
Take out the boobage (or lack thereof) and all the pictures of reality and you're good to go! - The2ndAct, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49You're thinking of the old HP commercials with the picture frames.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -6/+51That was the most depressing commercial I've ever seen in my life.
It would be a good commercial for some kind of "love your neighbor, get out and make a difference in the world" kind of thing, but for a film company? It just seemed horrible. Using a tagline like "perfect pictures for an imperfect world" makes it sound like they're treating all those terribly sad images as nothing more than jokes for their ad. I would never buy anything from a company like that.
Somebody, please tell me this is a hoax. - maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43If that commercial was shown in the states, the gates of hell would open and demons would cloud the skys, laying waste to everything pure and good. BOOBS ARE THE DEVIL.
*goes back to watching people get blown away on ABC* - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -19/+48"Why don't we see anything like this in the US?"
I don't know but if it's Paris Hilton with the shiner I'm all for it. - Soccer4786, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29I missed a few of them the first time around, I had to watch it twice.
Reminds me of those kodak commercials. - jeff94, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Alternate link (and doesn't cut off company's name @ end)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fi-h-yfR-Rg - coreyo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26that is creepy and would not make me want to buy ***** from the company that produced that.
- dono169, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25you are a douchebag.
- yiandes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24It isn't nearly positive enough to air in the US. The music is sad, the photos are all negative, and the people aren't happy. Anything sad is unappealing, remember?
Besides that, some mom would complain about it scarring little Jimmy's brain as much as breast-feeding on the front of a maternity magazine. - portwojc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21We have seen stuff like this in the US. It's like those HP commercials just not done in a happy way.
- jeff94, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Those political boobs.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Yeah, let's use spouse abuse and mine victims to sell our product.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"They are showing that they can capture the imperfect world the way it is..."
Except that the ad demonstrates their product *hiding* the imperfect. - prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Those HP commercials were done entirely by the dude who is portrayed in them (no crew, just him and his digital video camera). he's french.. so it's possible that he did this commercial as well.
- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15brilliant
- creatvt, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18That's the thing about the US...
It can only be liked if it is "entertaining".
Europe tends to be able to appreciate things (commercials, movies, etc.) for their pure 'artistic' value (which can be pitched in happy or unhappy moods). - imdeanlabouty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12A bit too intense for a picture commercial, but that's still pretty cool.
- abcb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12That would be Craig Armstrong - Let's go out tonight from his first solo album Space between us
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10A serious (severe or austere) attitude is not the same thing as actually taking something seriously.
- bitcloud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10No it's not a hoax... really beautiful clever commercial if it was for someone like Amnesty International, but for a photo company? I think it's in bad taste...

You can see the full commercial (with company name) here
I'm sure the irony won't be lost on anyone when they see the companies name - FotoPricks - jlunski, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Ahh, I see the 12 year olds are out in force. That commercial was powerful and moving, if you didn't feel any emotion then you are either very immature or have no compassion whatsoever.
- asdren, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Is this a commercial for Budweiser or Miller Lite?
- kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Actually the FCC is just the tool. The real answer is the strong undercurrent of puritanism that runs in the United States. I mean, who is going to protect the little ones? After all, parents are incapable of explaining mature subject matter, or determining ratings, or even switching the damned box off. Government has to step in to 'protect' us.
You do not the derision and sarcasm in what I just said, right? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12They are showing that they can capture the imperfect world the way it is...
- offput, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9damn, that's the most depressing thing ever...
- HarryBauzonia, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9......or we're not simple enough to be emotionally affected by ads showing actors pretending to have been abused.
- thelastknowngod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6anyone know what song that is?
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4yeah, brilliant, like everything that passes through digg. but not like back when "brilliant" actually meant something.
- HumbleDialog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Crazy *FRENCH* commercial"
Huh... I just found out I can read french. - KevlarRelic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@jlunski I'm with you, man.
I found this commercial to be very profound, moving, and yes, even beautiful - in a bitter-sweet sort of way. Think American Beauty floating bag/dead bird thing. Sorta. Not really.
Frankly, I am surprised at the reactions from people here on digg, some of which are incredibly immature to say the least. I had my suspicions before, but now I'm sure: Digg's user base is almost entirely composed of pre-pubescent american males!
...Sorta. Not really. - tinkerfknbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think the hand was supposed to depict her lost love...probably her husband died, and now she's lonely. Don't you think?

Thank you, Come again! - SkaVanker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4She is alone!
- justhinking, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4In case you didn't catch that: The 'crazy French commercial' actually appears to be an English commercial, with English copy shown at the end, and English song lyrics throughout.
Regardless...c'est tres fantastique, je pense! - dfraser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I don't know the history, but Leo Burnett in this case is a gigantic international advertising company, not a single person. :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Didn't exactly 'blow my mind'. The submitter must be a stoner.
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What do you think NSFW means?
- gravylookout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How close I was and yet so far away. It was 2003, an andy award, and the name of the advertisement was "Under Five". It was made by a guy called Leo Burnett and you can find it on his very, very cool website @ http://www.leoburnett.com
Greater Good
TV
Under Five - slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just keep in mind that with a population of 300M, marketing to the lowest common denominator still nets a prettty big audience (especially in Texas).
- nepawoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What was the message?
- Snooper1989, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A picture tells a thousand words, although it's still confusing as to what the advertisement was aiming for. Most probably it was aiming at getting you to think about the add, and i've fallen into that one. When I was watching I more saw it as, this is a camera that takes pictures of reality, it doesn't hide the reality away... Hard to explain really.
- MakinBacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FYI: It's not a "guy" named Leo Burnett... that is the name of one of the biggest Advertising Agencies in the North America. Yes.. there WAS a guy named Leo Burnett that the company is named for, but he passed away over thirty years ago.
- BadMonkey0001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Having looked for good methods to print from my digital SLR, my first thought was that this was targeted to aspiring photojournalists - of whom there are a great many today (not I). This definitely appeals to the "high end" crowd in subject (reality even and especially when brutal) and artistic quality. The bonus is the buzz and introspection the rest of us shmos get from it.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4"Why don't we see anything like this in the US?"
We lack the sensitivity for stuff like this, if it doesn't have explosions and shouting then on the whole America doesn't care - zcreem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2NSFW == New South ***** Wales, its a little state outside Canberra
- techweenie1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2cool commercial, what is the significance of the old lady with the hand picture? Is she an old maid? is she a widow? is she without grandchildren? anyway didn't quite blow my mind...maybe I've become too desensitized...if anything the FCC can't control the content on the Web so I think more Americans, like myself, will become increasingly more desensitized, whether this is a good thing or a bad thing...really can't tell you.
- gravylookout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The french text under the video says (according to google) "An advertizing of Fotoprix.Personnelement I it préfaire without the advertising slogan (it is not present on this video)"
