- mkling176, on 04/16/2008, -0/+22Abuse of power. Plain and simple.
- Aensland, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13Wait, I thought this was Dorset, UK.
- pakakapa, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13"The Home Office said the RIPA legislation did not appear to have been used inappropriately."
WTF? - wishninja, on 04/16/2008, -0/+13The terrorists have already won there. Europe is not part of the free world... then again America is teetering and poised to fall. Wonder if there are any governments left in the "free world."
- PeterODactyl, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9You would.
- LeeSoong, on 04/16/2008, -0/+9Time for some criminal charges and real jail time for the Council members ?
- manitoba98xp, on 04/16/2008, -0/+71) It's Barack.
2) It's in the UK. - retawd, on 04/16/2008, -0/+7Someone should coverty stencil that somewhere.
- matador3, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5I've heard Estonia and the Czech Republic are good, er thats probably about it. Canada is *****, they just charged some guy with human rights abuses for publishing those Danish Muhammad cartoons.
- PopcornDave, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5I blame your teachers and whatever education system you went through.
- pakakapa, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Maybe they could technically do it, but the fact that they seem to be totally fine with that kind of use is very disturbing. Just shows that the argument about it being supposed to be used only on rare and serious crimes is total BS.

- PopcornDave, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Not knowing British law it's hard to know if this would work, but if it was here I'd sure as hell get a restraining order in the works after I called the local media to stop that abuse of power. Either that or turn the tables on the watchers and do my "civic duty" and spy on the spies.
- Skooma714, on 04/16/2008, -0/+3Why would the government put part of itself in jail?
Laws for the little people to follow. - inactive, on 04/16/2008, -1/+3Can someone explain what all these English words mean in American?
- warriorscot, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1More accurately, "one nation under man with trench coat and binoculars"
- wishninja, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1I guess your right we are all *****. maybe besides Estonia and Czech Republic.
- warriorscot, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Europe has less surveillance and no prison camps, talk for yourself buddy. A ***** city councilor gone a little mad with power hardly qualifies.
- kirralin23, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Wrong nation.
- mellomeh, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Typically, it's a Conservative controlled council.
- kirralin23, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1If this happened in the U.S. I think there would be a major lawsuit, and rightfully so. Also, can they get them on criminal stalking charges?
- Pixelante, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Only sensible on their part. They don't want to get themselves blown up, you know. Appeasement is the way with tough people. The rest can be safely trampled upon.
- nomadxx7, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2If though the legislation drafted may show that they could do this, I think that in the US that you'd have a hard time trying to prove its constitutionality.
- olik, on 04/16/2008, -3/+3People need to get the message that this is legal, and it would be legal in the United States too. The Constitution doesn't protect the information they gathered here (all publicly available), so if this outrages you, it's up to our legislators to protect our privacy. Ever since Roe v. Wade turned a 'right to privacy' into a euphemism for abortion this battle has been lost. They don't need a warrant to follow you, track you with GPS, or track you by your cell phone signal.
- kinerry, on 04/16/2008, -2/+2you had me until "roe v. wade", it just shows you know nothing about the case
- fatTJ, on 04/16/2008, -7/+2What? Less than 100 Diggs and Front Page?? I Could Care Less, but I can't believe someone hasn't capatilized on this and has professed their hate for the algorithms
- killbert24, on 04/16/2008, -12/+2In other news, a random school council has been affiliated with a pornography ring. Sources say RIPA is at blame.
- Ne007, on 04/16/2008, -19/+4***** it...America is doomed.
- inactive, on 04/16/2008, -20/+2I blame Barrack Hussein Obama.

What is Digg?
