The fact that people in the past used their free will to violate children is a sad truth, but it's the truth and I'm glad that at least the NYC Diocese is stepping up to try and prevent this from happening again.

The reasons for celibacy are these: After duty to God himself, every married man's first duty is his family. For priests, their first duty is the church. So if a priest were married, he couldn't devote as much of himself to the church. And of course, sex with someone who is not your spouse is disallowed, so naturally priests must abstain.
Catholics do consider celibacy to be a "higher" state of being, but recognize that each person has his own calling.
They are trying to imitate the life of Christ. Christ was not married, but devoted all of his life to the church.
Last but most importantly, clerical celibacy is church law, not doctrine. The pope can change the law at any time (though it doesn't seem likely to happen in the near future, unless there becomes a strong movement to abolish it).

I don't understand where all this hatred of Jews comes from. Sure, some Catholics are against the Jews because of their treatment of Jesus. Arabic countries are against the Jews because of the situation in Israel. But, why the rest of the world? What did the Jews do to Korea? What was Nazi Germany's main issue with the Jews? Were they just a scapegoat for Germany's problems at the time? Hell, there's tons of antisemitism here in the U.S.

Paul merely suggested it to those who would be able to suppress those desires and use that energy in the service of God, but never made it a pre-requisite to the priesthood. In fact, when writing to Timothy he indicated the opposite:

Reason is the opposite of faith. Reasonable is exactly what religious people are NOT!
