- the_d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+69This is an old parlor trick.
There is a small block of ice (more recently, dry ice) under the table cloth, and when the fly walks over it, they get too cold, and flip over to die.
Before it dies, the lady puts a ball on it, which simulates ground, and they try to run away. That makes the ball spin. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32Japanese people sure have some weird ass TV shows.
- underdog138, on 10/12/2007, -4/+36Can a fly operate a Blendtec Blender? That is the question.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21He said speechless, not paralyzed.
- laplacian, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Looks like they poison these insects and then give them a ball to roll around with their final dying movements.
- Jdban, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21it's probably just spazzing out because they sprayed it with RAID.
- mancat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Japan needs to get a job.
- NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It wouldn't be Japanese without the complementary avatars of some people in a small box in the lower right side of the screen.
- Gnascher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13@thiagoleon ....
You obviously haven't seen enough Japanese TV. I've seen some pretty depraved stuff that makes US TV seem like saturday afternoon cartoons by comparison. - Recuso, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14@ The D
...Depressing. Heh. - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I wouldn't expect myself to say this -after all they're only flies- but doesn't it seem cruel?
- zionKing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12I'd like to see what other creatures she get on their backs playing with balls using only one finger.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That was very bizarre indeed!
- thiagoleon, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Hahaha you have no idea how right you are ;)
They are crazy, but at least they don't use sex or violence to get viewers... - teddyrux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I wish I could teach my dog to do that...Man...If I had a fly charming dog, I'd be the richest king of all the kings!
- jonesin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@thiagoleon:
You've obviously never seen Hentai - seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9okay. that's ***** up.
- hcl40u, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You usually don't see hentai on Japanese TV.
- TehMasterer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7From the title I thought it was something a little more raunchy...
- msprout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"They are crazy, but at least they don't use sex or violence to get viewers..."
This made my brain explode. Place a TV running Japanese programming next to a TV running British programming, and the British TV would sink into the floor. - eggo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Can't we have ONE digg thread without the bleeding heart cry-baby whining? Just one? It's a ***** fly. If it were in your house, you would squash it without a second thought. Get over it.
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Yeah, because everyone wants to watch videos of people working to fix government.... and what government are you talking about anyway? China? This is a Japanese video. Only government working to hurt and kill fellow humans right now is mine, USA unfortunately.
- teddyrux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If this video is educational...What is the lesson?
- cyclopsface, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This looks like it might be the same show that had the "trained" goldfish: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wGw6EhBtznM
I wonder what else they've been doing in tv crazy land... - Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It was worth it just for the guy going "Ooooh...OOOOOO" at the beginning.
- polyphonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1dont flies only live like 2 days? too lazy to look it up
if so id rather die early with sweet neon lights flashing all around me, spinning a tiny ball - unlived, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This gets dugg every 4 months........
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2when i was kid, I saw this thing in a book...a fly plane....you catch a big fly, put it in the refrigerator for awhile, until it is in a docile state...then you glue its feet to a little piece of toothpick with tiny airplane wings made of paper.
When the fly warms up, it flies away, and soon notices that it can glide (or so the comic book article said) ...and it will fly around, and then glide, like a little tiny plane.
I thought it was hilarious, but then I felt bad, and thought it was kinda cruel. (kids do that sort of thing)
Hey.....maybe the old men who make wars are just people who never matured beyond that kid state, when they like doing cruel things! - justinkwaugh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm sorry... the correct answer was kwakisurpi-PI-ku!
- noseeme, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I whisper sweet little nothings into their ears. ;)
- citrusfizz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and still you don't.... sad
- Namco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's awesome man. Only in Japan!
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Kwa...ki...sur...pi...ni...ku!
- homestar2525, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Dugg for the WTF factor.
- ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -10/+10Then how where you able to reply?
- MeatBiProduct, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2The real question is....
Could it blend Brundle Fly. - TheBowerbird, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is done by freezing the flies first, or rather, getting them close to that state. This puts them in a stupor.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Apparently, they were not hurting those flies at all. you can assume that, but it is possible that they were into something entirely different, that is more about understanding and 'relating to' the little creatures.....playing with them, but not enslaving them!
I've played with squirrels...while holding a branch...you just have to LEARN how, with each different species.
But maybe you are too busy hating, or despairing. I hope you get over it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1HAHAHAhaha.. ohh, watching that made my day, thanks
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The lesson is....look at the incredible things people can get animals to do, when they chill out and learn how to completely empathize with the little creatures, and speak to them...in a way.
The lesson is....you have no idea what is in store for you , if you ever make the necessary efforts, and overcome your aggression and fear and anger! - baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i want to do that to the flies in my apartment..is it possible? or do i need to import some japanese flies
- Zidul, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2i bet the flies think the ball is what they're walking on (like a tiny little planet?) and are poisoned so they cant fly...dunno.
- BladeofKeyZ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Old
- kylebrothert, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Funniest comment on Digg today.
- Joshuarr, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5That's the craziest fu#?ing thing I've ever seen.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1OMG
Will it blend! These pre-fab phrases are getting too big!
e.g. "i for one welcome our new fly overlords!" Get over it!
But the fly video is just awesome.
I got back from a Japanese restaurant, and teh returned there to tell the people who work there how to find it on Youtube!
Just search for "Incredible Fly"
LMMFAO - nbx909, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1the finger thing is a bit weird and would contradict the poisoning unless the flies do something weird like that when poisoned or dieing. It really looks like the finger confuses them and makes them fall onto their backs and then they attempt to get up like all bugs do when they are knocked on their backs
- digginestdogg, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0Why is it amusing to take natural creatures and bend them to our pathetic small minded wills to do parlor tricks? Does that make them feel like 'big' men (current stats about the diminutive size of Asian and Indian penises aside). How about entertainment that doesn't involve hurting something? Or maybe workingto fix the situations where your government is hurting and kiling fellow humans right now?
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Can a BlendTec blend a fly?
- nhassan, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1speechless from amazement
