- Bronnster, on 05/11/2008, -1/+2To add, this is one of many reason I am asking everyone to vote for Ron Paul. Dr Paul is our only defender of civil rights given to us by the Constitution. Again, Dr. Paul is the ONLY ONE is government that is protecting the United States Constitution and our individual rights. RP08

- silvadollaz, on 05/23/2008, -0/+0Bronnster, you are dead wrong. This information is still 100% accurate. There are many reasons to be concerned about the PATRIOT Act, but it doesn’t reduce your rights during a routine police encounter. Anti-terrorism legislation gives federal agents broad powers to investigate potential terrorist activities, but it doesn’t apply to the local cops in our neighborhoods or the state police patrolling our highways. Your sentiments are understood, but please get your facts straight before you throw your hands in the air declaring that the Constitution is dead.

After the passing of the Patriot Act, these rights are no longer legitimate protection. In fact, they may indeed create more harm than good for an individual who encounters any law infraction violation which involves an officer of the law.
