- airwalkery2k, on 01/06/2009, -4/+29I have this sudden urge to join a cult. Does this guy have one?
- uncleosbert, on 01/06/2009, -2/+25there are some good points in this piece, but i am NOT making myself the "ceo" of my life! if i get a title it's gonna be "queen" or maybe "space empress".
- pyromcr, on 01/05/2009, -3/+24oh crap!!!
that is me - veskris, on 01/06/2009, -6/+24Hurray for circular logic. Your purpose is to help others find their purpose? And this is all so cliche and cheesy; I can't imagine how any of you could derive any meaning out of this ***** blog post.
- Serphyas, on 01/06/2009, -5/+21Your articles' arguments sound a lot like those of transcendentalism; albeit with a Scientology-esque, cultish vibe and a ***** of arrogant, crazy ***** thrown in.
- algaeturd, on 01/06/2009, -3/+17Those aren't sleepwalkers! Those are pot smokers!
- greedyemu, on 01/06/2009, -1/+15Yeah, uh, that's some deep *****... I think.
/back to fallout 3 - d66kid, on 01/06/2009, -4/+16I've felt the described way last 10 years or so. And still that blog's *****.
- Serphyas, on 01/06/2009, -3/+15That was the corniest ***** comment I've ever seen.
- codyman, on 01/06/2009, -2/+13little debbie downer over there
- 13letterslong, on 01/06/2009, -1/+12What strikes me is that they reject the pursuit of financial success, building relationships with people, social "success" or any of the normal goals, on the basis that they only last until you die. Instead they're espousing the view that (quoted) "if all the individuals in the world are to attain our highest level of consciousness one day, we will become united as a single world and eventually end the cycle of life and death."
I. Call. *****.
There is nothing you can do in life that will not eventually be both gone and forgotten. Of the 200 thousand years humanity has been around, when was the earliest person we still remember by name? Can't be more than a couple of thousand years back, any more than that and you enter the realm of myths and legends, which are unlikely to preserve much of the truth about a person.
The whole thing seems to be fuelled by fear of death, fear of "wasting your life" and the fear that maybe what you're doing isn't going to be important, won't be remembered for all time and etc. Frankly, this is more of a dream than normal life; running from these fears into an effort to do "something that matters" that will, ultimately, be forgotten just as quickly. The true "awakening" is to see that on the larger scale, almost any individual is insignificant, but accepting that.
Why should it be important to be remembered? After your death you can't derive any benefit from your legacy... some may choose to try and leave behind something good for the future because it makes them happy to do so, but others are made happier by chasing their own small goals. In the end we're all just doing whatever we think will make us happiest and while there's something to be said for trying to see through the ***** to figure out what will _really_ make us happiest, there's no reason at all why the answer shouldn't be short term goals of no real significance ("real" significance is hard to come by, and short term goals make a lot of people happy). - Locke23, on 01/06/2009, -5/+14You know, I usually ignore comments that say digg is turning into 4chan, etc..
but really?
Self-improvement articles now?
What the hell is digg turning into? - je12u, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11Seriously, if you fall for this ***** then yes...you are the 'sleepwalker'
This is not deep by any means.
It sounds like it was written by a college kid with no responsibilities/family to take care of. (after checking the about page I stand by my statement)
My main purpose in this life is to raise my children in a warm, fun, nurturing environment where I can teach them what I have learned so they can be prepared enough to grow on their own. That is my awareness of the bigger picture. I don't lack motivation. I am conscience of my thoughts. Of course there are things I want to do but can't find the time because I prioritize differently when I think of my kids. If I have to go to work, pick up laundry, shop for food , and go through the motions of what may appear to be mundane tasks to an outsider... maybe it's the outsider who isn't seeing the full picture. - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -1/+10I sleepdigg.
- Vietrmx, on 01/06/2009, -2/+11The author of this article must be in upper-management. Nothing else explains the dumb metaphors and emphasis on goals.
- Serphyas, on 01/06/2009, -4/+12And you know what, more than half of these *****-ass comments are from the submitter's ***** mutual friends, and those friends are the only reason this ***** article hit the front page. Your friends should at least ACT like they're not just mindless drones.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -3/+10Stupid article. A person out of school for about 2 years is starting to see the reality of everyday life and deduces that the majority are "sleepwalkers" aka sheeple and thinks that he/she is somehow better or more enlightened because of the realization that modern everyday life is humdrum so most of use fill the "gaps" by doing things that give us mental or physical pleasure?
A big yawn from me as I rollover and go back to "sleep"...... oh, if you are posting on digg or reading this on digg, you are engaging in the very activities the author is talking about so be careful how you reply.... - tmyprod, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8"None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe they are free."
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - irishjays, on 01/06/2009, -1/+8I know people that are perfectly happy in that defined state. I respect what she is trying to accomplish, it's a good goal, however this author has little in common with the average person as a Chinese Vegan.
She should try having some kids. - tdmoney, on 01/06/2009, -2/+9What an insightful article!!1
Wait... Why would I want to take self help advice from a recent college graduate mmorpger again? - Pixelante, on 01/06/2009, -2/+9WTF? A sleepwalker is a shapeshifting vampire/werebeast who lives off the energy of virgins. By this time they should have gone extinct. Get your facts straight and pour salt on your door's threshold, guys.
- brad016, on 01/06/2009, -4/+11His name was Robert Paulson.
- AshsToAshs, on 01/06/2009, -2/+8While reading this article i was sure i was going to see "...if so, join Scientology today!" at the bottom of the page.
- kalphegor, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7Yes, we all are sleepwalkers no matter what purpose will find or already have in life.
- goodselfme, on 01/05/2009, -6/+12I used to sleep walk. I don't anymore.
- zimsters, on 01/06/2009, -0/+6This includes addictions such as playing games, partying, eating, watching TV, surfing the net with no end in mind, gossiping, complaining, etc. The person is often not capable to stop this at will until there is an external stimulus which cuts it off, such as time to sleep or eat. He or she is also not able to articulate a clear reason for engaging the activity, other than ‘Because it is fun’, ‘I like it’ or ‘There is nothing else to do’.
Wait, this means 90% of the digg community, and probably 80% of the people you see in other forums are all sleepwalkers? ah well. At least I have company :) - corporatex, on 01/06/2009, -1/+7His name was Robert Paulson
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5She is speaking from the perspective of a barely out of college young adult who is just realizing that there is a big difference between college fantasy life and real modern day humdrum life. She now feels enlightened and special by her discovery and feels the need to share her "light bulb" moment. Problem is she is trying to share it with thousands of others who have already had the same epiphany only to realize after the green fads from behind the ear, that it's all *****..
- AnotherDiggGuy, on 01/06/2009, -5/+10Definitely an excellent set of articles. Just looking around it's amazing how many people are sleep walkers... not saying I'm ahead of the game, but finding & defining your own purpose isn't always as easy as it would seem. If you don't already, I highly recomend listening to Coast to Coast AM, many people discredit it as a source UFO sightings and conspiracies, but in all really the show covers a huge range of topics that frequently involve finding your inner peace and how to understand various aspects of humankind in general in a free & open minded environment. George Noorey is IMO the best radio talk show host I've ever heard, he doesn't force his agenda on the air and lets everyone express their thoughts and viewpoints without interruptions.
- thechilipepper0, on 01/06/2009, -5/+10This ***** is corny as hell...but dugg b/c its true man. Props for wakin up, hope I do it soon.

- je12u, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5+1 from me
It also scares me reading through the comments seeing how many other people are falling for this ***** garbage.
"it's so deep" "wow, really makes you think" blah blah blah
I'm going to go kick a kitten then set a butterfly on fire now....be back in a bit. - rolf, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Me too. Now they just strap me to the bed.
- rawnnie, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5I don't want to wake up. It's tiring.
- estacado, on 01/06/2009, -2/+6Because posting your own stuff can be considered spamming.
- dragonrebornn, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Interesting read but don't look to have any problems solved. Sometimes you have no choice but to run the "rat race"
- forbjok, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Doesn't this essentially just describe about 99% of the world's population?
- AlbinoRaven, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4While absenteeism is a problem in the office. The other problem that exist is presenteeism, people just floating around in the office and you just can't quite put your finger to why they are there. I find most of the times it's people doing something that they never were meant to do.

- brundlefly76, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4Do you have a clear direction in your life?
Or do you seek to assert labels to others on web sites?
This 'sleepwalking' web page may be for you! - Sheethappens, on 01/06/2009, -3/+6That was a load of old *****. Most people KNOW they are in their "wheel" and actively choose it and for a lot of differing reasons - such as the mother who does it because her husband died and she has kids to look after or the person who is in their wheel and really loves it.
If you look at the posting from another perspective, this person is telling you "You dont do what I do so you are wrong therefore do what I do to be right" so isnt he actually creating a following of sleepwalkers walking in HIS rat wheel? - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4Oh crap! I saw you yesterday!
- BESTenemy, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3No, I don't own any apple products.
- megarobotguy, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Not necessarily, I think if you are a poor person living in a third world country you don't have a choice. She is speaking from the perspective of a person living in a developed country.
