- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9yeah or you just got it to play the intro video. it really didn't do anything else besides that. need more proof!
- sbolanos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It looks like its OSx86 then running some of the ATV stuff.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3or without help from that video that guy posted of the start-up movie from appleTV..
- sdschramm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Note that the monitor he is using is a combo unit from SHARP (TV/Monitor)
I think he put it on the VGA input, started the computer, then switched it to VIDEO 1.
Note half way in the video, he changes the channel on that tv to the other input, were the real Apple TV is plugged in! - cleverboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is stupid. First, get it booting on an Intel Mac first, then try booting on a "generic PC". If no one's accomplished #1, then why should anyone think #2 will succeed. Personally, I think people should stop trying to run Apple TV on another device. It's less than pointless.
- shamefulanomaly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i saw video-1 appear on the screen, he changed the channel, the apple tv bootup looks nothing like the way it went
- bikedude880, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Technically, you are right. In the process of stripping it down.
- cinnix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And he would of gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you medaling kids!
- bikedude880, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Ok, first off, to completely null the last 3 comments, the TV refresh rate changes, hence the monitor "appearing" to change channels.
Should I show my keyboard while booting? Perhaps clear up that little discrepancy?
To all of you who think this is a fake, you can all drop dead now. There are still security checks in the Finder (aka the "core" of the AppleTV OS) The OS of the AppleTV is a stripped down 10.4.8 install (8.8.2), NOT 10.4.7. I have decompiled core parts of the OS and compared them to stock files out of the Apple 10.4.8 packages and they have checked out.
And yes, the other video is "more legit" because it is running on true Apple hardware and doesn't hang on EFI, IR, and system name. You think this is easy? You try getting it to work and then criticize. Maybe learn to capitalize and such while you're at it. - dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They are almost there.
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=442 - Terc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2it's actually RUNNING on a macbook http://digg.com/apple/Apple_TV_Running_on_a_MacBook straight from semthex.
- Ngai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is highly inaccurate!!! No proof whatsoever and there was channel switching and only a intro video and nothing else.
- semthex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well this i slegit cause it is the same finder patch as the above mentioned macbook. I know cause I made it.
- longhorn49, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2do not doubt the bikedude. all others have tried, but they have failed
- bikedude880, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Yeah... right... and the moon is made of cheese...
Proof will come when more developments are made. - bikedude880, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Thanks, couldn't have done it without some help from the guys at hackint0sh.org
- artistan, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0bikedude my hats of to ya. great job!
