- nitsnipe, on 03/14/2008, -1/+31The fact that you are actually reading this means that it's never gonna work.
- NoCt1, on 03/14/2008, -0/+151. Remove digg feed from google desktop.
- PueSi, on 03/14/2008, -0/+13No kidding, I barely get anything done because of Digg. It's worst than crack.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -2/+12Here's my #1.
Quit reading lists and get the f@ck back to work. - fdw2006, on 03/14/2008, -0/+10Hey jjjoey - You are good at lists, you should start a blog!
- Sparticuz, on 03/14/2008, -0/+91) Open your hosts file:
C:windows-system32-drivers-etc-HOSTS (digg strips slashes)
2) Add a new line:
127.0.0.1 digg.com
3) Save the file and restart! - twoboxen, on 03/14/2008, -0/+6you incorrectly assume that I want to get stuff done at work.
- troycott, on 03/14/2008, -0/+410) Stop visiting digg between 9 and 5
- tehdinosaurs, on 03/14/2008, -1/+5Haha, you stuttereddd.
- JonnyCasino, on 03/14/2008, -1/+4great list... i particularly find #7 - Disconnect yourself momentarily, quite useful. It is amazing what one hour can do to productivity when you are not going through messages, emails, txt... etc. I often take what I call a "Dead Zone" break during my typically all too hectic day, it is one hour in my day where my emails/phone/pda are all turned off so I can really just focus on my current task.

STFU and do your job. - eddy23170, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3i bet they have our best interests in mind...
- DrunkenMunk, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3sounds like my day
- obel1sk, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3Am I the only one that is sick of these lists on digg. They are all this rediculous common sense motivational onion on the belt crap. I for one can't wait for this meme to be over.
- RustyJ, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3you caught me dammit!
- dancee, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3Very nice hmmm... now if you will excuse me, I have to get back to work.By the way thanks for the link to hi task.
- Jade10145, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I would be curious to see what kind of job most users of digg have..I, as per the stereotype, work for a software company, not programming through, just teaching people how to use the programs
- Kune171, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Most of the people on Digg are at work and should be doing it? No, why would we? It's work.
- blademanx, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Its probably bad if I'm reading this as a form of procrastination, huh.
- AnarchyReigns, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2My work filter does block this article...bitches. Guess I'll forget about work today and spend all day finding a way around Websense.
- SHv2, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3"You might be surprised to find that you’ve been checking your favorite websites a tad bit too much or chatting up your co-workers a little too excessively."
*****... *closes digg, reddit, fark, register, /., ars technica, ... tabs* - tblasko, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2Ahh the host file block... a procrastinators best friend. Even though I KNOW its blocked in my host file, I have such a problem that I still go and click on digg favicon just to see the File Not Found message... that reassures me that it's not currently working and I can get back to work
- o0joshua0o, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2The fact that this list is on Digg at all is the height of irony.
- NoCt1, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2So did you !!!!
- HotBaconSauce, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3I think it would be funny if someones work filter blocked this article.
- vajra918, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3actual working mirror:
http://www.lyved.com.nyud.net:8080/misc/9-simple-s ... - bugaloobob, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1I just took a big hit on my productivity by reading this list.
- 69smithy, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Thanks. Stressed at work at the moment and I am going to put some of your points into action.
- Accolade1, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry, reading this article wasn't in my work journal for today.
- mtwolf, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1I personally like to shut down my email for a few hours instead of one, then just have scheduled "email time" unless of course I am working on something that requires a lot of emailing.
- theDunedan, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Dugg up. I was gonna say that earlier, but I had a deadline to meet.
- tinkafoo, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1What's with the onslaught of GTD news over the past few months? This is all common sense stuff that we already know, it's just some of us are going to be just plain lazy no matter what.
- saikyan, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1That's probably the best advice of all. It's a hell of a lot easier to get things done when you actually like your job.
- jasonsalas, on 03/14/2008, -2/+3good list, but easier said than done, tragically.
- zantos420, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1it's friday: hell no.
- h0ly, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Oh but I am le tired...

*ahem*
QUIT SCREWING AROUND, GET YOUR ASS OFF DIGG AND DO YOUR GOD DAMN JOB OR YOU ARE FIRED!
How's that for a strategy? - Lanefair, on 03/14/2008, -0/+110: Work for a target driven private company that doesn't let you go on the internet all day and offers real incentives for good performance.
But seriously I think I will keep a spreadsheet of what I actually do all day, to guilt myself into being more productive. - inactive, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Kind of ironic that I'm reading this at work.
- n3tfury, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1"4.) Cut down on non-work activities."
