- theaceoface, on 05/29/2009, -0/+9The best thing to take away from this article is that there are alternatives to the rote and didactic schooling that is dominate now. There are many types of schools, which is appropriate, since there are many types of pupils...

- muxaulo, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6andragogy > pedagogy
- Kahnza, on 05/29/2009, -0/+4I like the sound of Sudbury. But it obviously wouldn't work for all students. Some of them are just little *****.
- rednorth, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3i went to a waldorf school. 8 years later i'm still ambivalent about the experience, and have become more so as the years have gone by. every now and again i think it was a fantastic experience and has given me a different perspective on life which can be used to my advantage, but a lot of the time i wish i'd gone to a normal school so i properly could understand how life works. it had that much of an affect on me. and yes, it is also a religion, a cult, i'd venture.
- benroy, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3I find that shouting and wild, erratic hand gestures tend to keep my attention.
- Swivelstick, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3To see that what society/government forces on us isn't always beneficial and that there are many other ways of tackling issues??
- tommydubya, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2I agree as well. Shallow and pedantic.
- mrgreenjeans, on 05/29/2009, -0/+2The "Pink Tower" and "Brown Stairs" sound like sex toys.
- gizram84, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1Children should be neither seen, nor heard.
- TwizzleNicole, on 08/04/2009, -0/+1Alternative to teaching? Methods of teaching have changed all the time, so no wonder children are all confused as to whats going on.
- Shaggy3, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1Sudbury would be a great MTV reality show.
- teemingvoid, on 05/29/2009, -0/+1yay sarcasm
- marmaraelt, on 09/01/2009, -0/+0Coll stuff about teaching.Sufficient explanations about these methods..

- gargamit100, on 05/29/2009, -1/+0Brillaint stuff...but all this is history..specially with all that is happening. I 'learnt' about this through twitter!
Times are changing. - alx359, on 05/29/2009, -3/+1Sorry, but think your ambivalency is a personal issue, not a result from the type of school you went. School won't *teach* you "real world", as "reality" at the end is what you choose to believe and if it works for you is *the reality* by itself. I believe much of these "new age" schools take a *lot* more wider (and wiser) view of what children and young people have as inherent potential and really may help to express it as creativity that may become prolific and out-of-the-box abilities in later years. There's plenty of time later for the mice-race up and boxing/tagging of things with poor real understanding.
- doublehue, on 05/29/2009, -4/+1why would i read this?
- lukedamonkey, on 05/29/2009, -5/+2i'm in a charter school, it's way easier than highschool.
I don't have to ditch class to smoke, so it goes with my schedule.
go in every 2 weeks and turn in my homework.
I get tested to make sure I stay up with standards.
i'm getting a 3.1 and before I was getting a .7 - superc0w, on 05/29/2009, -7/+3I didn't read it cause I didn't go to college, but the title was good so I dugg it.
