Male pattern baldness at least, which is the most common type of baling to affect men, is in fact inherited from the X chromosome of the mother. the Y chromosome in men is mostly for secondary sex characteristics. The gene for male pattern baldness is recessive and on the X chromosome which a man can only get from his mother. For those who don't understand this, women have 2 X chromosomes, men have an X chromosome and a Y chromosome. Women have no control over gender of the child, that is up to the sperm, but the mother is most often the source of certain recessive genes that are not expressed in themselves because they are recessive genes and the mother also has a dominant copy. However the mother is the one who provides the recessive genes for male pattern baldness as well as red-green color blindness in males. in order to find out ur liklihood of being bald look at ur mother's mother, if she was balding, then your mom has at least 1 recessive allele for balding, if her father was also balding then she is basically guaranteed to bald as are you if you are a man. Aunts, Uncles, and other close relatives can help you determine the genes that ur mother can have most likely, but they do not have any direct effect themselves, they just have correlation.

I know a group of fundamentalist (sortof) Christians who focus their ministry only on matters of sexuality, and even they don't try to argue that masturbation is physically harmful.
