- Hexqueen5, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1"That" should be up there, too. I end up editing out a ton of "thats" when I proofread my bosses stuff.
- Bobojan, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1I am a fundraiser and have found the word "you" to be one of the best words to use in solicitation letters. I agree that the usage provided is definitely overdone. I have a co-worker who uses the word(?) "muchly". It drives me crazy! Maybe we need a list of the 10 most ridiculous made-up words!
- SorryIGotDrunk, on 09/25/2008, -0/+1there are some good tips for you to use. hehe.
- trevorw600, on 11/28/2008, -0/+0Interesting - overusing of certain words and the suggestion that we try exchanging the word *because* with *and* ... not sure that I agree. Contextually, they are not interchangeable without losing the word-smithing effect of using a certain the word precisely as it was meant to be used. Exchanging one for the other **because** people are over-using one or the other doesn't seem to be the real answer here.
When done correctly, there is a very specific reason for the usage of the word **because**.
It was precisely **because there was a cause**... notice in this context the meaning becomes garbled if we say **and there was a cause**... ha ha ha.
Was that as clear as tepid murky water? ha ha Yeah, i thought so.
Oh well, enjoyed the rest of the article. - wuebben, on 09/26/2008, -0/+0Quite interesting. Thanks!
- NCFL, on 10/05/2008, -0/+0According to www.dictionary.com and www.m-w.com, "reoccurring" is not a word. (see #2 in the article). Makes me doubt how much the author really knows. But generally, the tips are good.
