I once worked for a few years at a military cadet camp washing dishes. A few thousand cadets every night. Luckily we had a machine that does the manual washing, but we still had to prep the plates. That's 6 hours of robotic identical movement. I was the guy who was there for the longest, so I was called the Machine. I could finish a tray of 6 dishes in under 3 seconds. Come home around 11:30 to midnight splattered with food, shoes wet, back aching from never sitting. All for the wonderful pay check of 8$/hour. - inactive, on 11/30/2008, -0/+0I think every teenager should have at least one terrible job to teach them the value of education, or at least of pursuing something they're passionate about. When I was in high school, I spent a summer splitting firewood on a 100-degree ranch. I got to carry 200-pound tree rounds up a hill, quarter them with an axe, split the quarters with a hydraulic splitter and load them in a pickup truck. The worst part -- besides the poison oak -- was that the ranch overlooked a lake, and I could see people swimming and water skiing while I dug splinters out of my neck.
