- Hoogie7Dowser, on 11/24/2007, -6/+137This is the work of the devil. We need more prayer in school, and less needles in cups of water.
- BlackSheep720, on 11/24/2007, -5/+114will the submitter please stop asking people to put frivolous comments on his stories?
- nooreazy, on 11/24/2007, -7/+104His/Her pouring skills are off the charts
- Kronos6948, on 11/24/2007, -15/+97I call BS. This has nothing to do with surface tension, but everything to do with water displacement. The volume of the 1000 pins would push the water out of the cup, simply because it cannot occupy the same space as the water.
Hence, the cuts in the video. Buried. - Waskonator, on 11/24/2007, -9/+88I'm too lazy to acquire the thousand pins to try this myself so.... its fake.
- Supurcell, on 11/24/2007, -0/+682000pins1cup.com?
- duggtodeath, on 11/24/2007, -2/+66Agreed.
Also, will submitter please drink said concoction? - Supurcell, on 11/24/2007, -5/+41I doubt the authenticity of this experiment. You can't add that much volume to the glass without displacing more water.
- ChromaVita, on 11/24/2007, -0/+31By that logic. Sex is fake.
- nnagflar, on 11/24/2007, -4/+32Each frame was photoshopped. The lighting's all wrong.
- Puppetfunk, on 11/24/2007, -1/+24By that logic. Almost everything is fake because I have yet to do it.
- Ugoff, on 11/24/2007, -0/+22I'm getting flash backs :(
- iticu, on 11/24/2007, -0/+20It was for you.
- mezon, on 11/24/2007, -6/+24Hmm... Interesting logic. If you are lazy then it should be a fake. Hmmm....
- Daggity, on 11/24/2007, -1/+181,000 needles, one cup?
- danomagnum, on 11/24/2007, -1/+18Right, if it were surface tension, the water above the cup would have the same volume as the pins.
- romistrub, on 11/24/2007, -0/+17Way to piece that one together...
- Azimuth1, on 11/24/2007, -6/+23The whole point of it is that the pins don't occupy enough space to push the water higher than its surface tension can hold. You can see that the water's maniscus is several millimetres higher at the end than at the beginning. The water was displaced several millimetres upwards, which is not enough to break the surface tension. It looks close, though.
- leprix, on 11/24/2007, -1/+16i want to see some "1000 pins 1 cup" reaction videos.
- HenkMul, on 11/24/2007, -6/+17Where can I find the sequel where they put 2000 pins in a glass?
- tidu, on 11/24/2007, -0/+10you mean some footage of people falling asleep?
- ChiGGz, on 11/24/2007, -4/+14i lolled reading that
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -2/+10poo head
- bitweever, on 11/24/2007, -0/+8I agree! If only there were more pouring videos on the Interwebs.
- FortyCaliber, on 11/24/2007, -1/+8Surface Tension is the DEVIL!
Really, though? Are you serious? - TomP, on 11/24/2007, -4/+10What else would you like in a cup then?
- alex7575, on 11/24/2007, -0/+6Those cheaters, they used surface tension!!!
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -2/+8youre retarded, thats what it means
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 11/24/2007, -1/+6*shudder*
- ChayD, on 11/24/2007, -1/+6This has to be a rouse by the metal fasteners manufacturing association to get us to buy more pins. It must be impossible, they would displace water. Although there was some similar thing where you could stuff something like a whole roll of cotton wool into a shot glass of water (never done it myself tho)
- Dylson, on 11/24/2007, -2/+7Its a video.
- aldableep3, on 11/24/2007, -0/+4ugghh.. god now im having flashbacks too..
- Soave, on 11/24/2007, -0/+4And I'm pretty sure that once you break the surface tension at all, it doesn't just fix itself. That is, once you spill it, it will pour out until it's level. I could be wrong though.
- bgfinkel, on 11/24/2007, -1/+5great- now i can die in peace knowing that all my life questions have been answered.
- chrisinsocalif, on 11/24/2007, -2/+6I got tired after counting out 10 pins. What a boring experiment.
- trebe, on 11/24/2007, -0/+4slow news day eh?
- Gir53457, on 11/24/2007, -0/+4Photoshop does video now.
- hulez, on 11/24/2007, -1/+4WHAT!? the video was constantly stopping and starting, he could have easily put a whole bunch of pins in and refilled the glass of water
- LilJimmyNordin, on 11/24/2007, -2/+5Will it blend?
- Merrick178, on 11/24/2007, -2/+5YE SHALT NOT BID THY DEVIL TO MAKE WATER MAGICALLY STAY IN PLACE!
- inactive, on 11/24/2007, -6/+9Whoop-te-friggin-doo.
- postitnote, on 11/25/2007, -1/+4That comment is so cool!
- russellnation, on 11/24/2007, -2/+4this is stupid
- RST1123, on 11/24/2007, -1/+31000 Pins. 1 Cup.
- simoose, on 11/24/2007, -0/+2The reason is that we dont care.
- daliminator, on 11/24/2007, -1/+3Additionally, if you look at the end of the video you'll see that the water actually rises above the edge of the cup without breaking surface tension and overflowing - hence the "tricky experiment about surface tension."
- tobikow, on 11/24/2007, -0/+2Thats true, if you use a medicine dropper you can fit 15-20 drops onto the penny, forming a convex buble.
- snypa, on 11/24/2007, -4/+61000 pins would surely have a great enough volume to displace the water well above that which its surface tension can hold. How about melting down those 1000 pins and placing the mass in the cup, I'm sure some water would be displaced out the cup.
- statiktv, on 11/24/2007, -1/+3lame.
- Peman3232, on 11/24/2007, -0/+2wow... it'll look great next to my homemade $1 High-def Speaker!
