Youtube Gets New Style and A New Streaming Service
youtube.com — Youtube received a new update of its theme, mostly making the tabs and some buttons on their site different. Also a new service rolled out that enables you to stream what people are streaming called 'Youtube Streams.' I'm not sure about the new theme, but the new service looks good.

- faisal2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27I like streams , but it needs more work.

- ldavid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I like the new graphics used. I always thought the tabs used in the original version design was a bit bland.
- Koray, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Has anyone else noticed that the new tabs are VERY google like? The color, basic shape, alignment, etc.
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15no, the old theme looked more google-esque. solid colo(u)rs...
- Koray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Google has used gradients quite a bit on projects. Just not the main page.
- stuartjmoore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2all I can see is the buttons Google uses have gradients, nothing else.
- coldstatue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think the pic of the scientist is from Google Labs. It looks really familiar
- RoboPimp3000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I'm tired of gradients
- mightymouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Google didn't patent gradients...mmkay?
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5this is probably the most stylish google site yet. needless to say if it were born at google it would be... well it'd be google video.
I like the update, because it's less googly. don't get me wrong i love www.google.com's simplicity, but youtube is one of those fancy new sites so it needs gradients and soft colours to fit in with the cool kids. - M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I disliked the old theme and to be honest this theme isn't really much better...
One thing I find bizarre is that ever since Google bought the company the ads have been taken away. You'd think Google would want some extra money so they aren't making complete negative profits off Youtube, with the massive bandwidth fees and all
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3the comments section have changed too
- RoboPimp3000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26But the comments are still retarded
- ratsoid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah, now there's a little pagination :-D
- ajrahim, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4WTF... why does google always have to put everything in either beta or testing?
- Anpheus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Because Google is about continual improvement.
Hey, it worked for people.
- Anpheus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Because Google is about continual improvement.
- kasted, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37i think its still pretty ugly...
- Genocyde, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Simple, yet elegant. I like it.
- thekarmastrike, on 10/12/2007, -25/+3This is ridiculous. The video is garbage. O Reilly is garbage. We all know wars have been fought in the name of religion, but that is because corrupt men use it to exploit ignorant masses into doing their bidding - institutions and ignorance are the problem.
We have to stop attacking the concept of religion and start propagating healthy ideas of religion and spirituality - a bond with God (whatever that may be- and trust me, it sure as goddamn hell isn't a submission or subservience to any authority but one's own), not a system of control or indoctrination and exploitation.
Also, ***** O'Reilly and his ***** non point hate mongering garbage. He is a hate mongering racist piece of trash.- Genocyde, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11ummmmmmm, wrong topic maybe?
- itsmattadams, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's not bad, but I'd like to see an Ajax search engine built in. Like http://video.qooqle.jp/ but the site would need a major overhaul, or a separate search page.
- Genocyde, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1They should update their entire site.
- tthatfreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You still can't skip forward in videos without having to download it all. :(
And oh man, I hate not being able to skip to specific parts of the videos- michaelbeckham, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Not to mention this post is a dupe. People please search before submitting...
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The direct streaming upload from YouTube doesn't work for me. I'm on an iMac G4, using an iSight.
- corsairstw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Scratch that... I just got it to work! Yay!
- ultrasoundinrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so you actually can see your real-time video in the stream room settings?
- datagod, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Get rid of the freaking popup box already.
"Click OK to enter the 90's" - xstevenx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1is the digg.com stream dead?
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Here is a link to the digg.com stream: http://www.youtube.com/stream?s=7864320
- scronline, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0And funny enough, almost as soon as google took it over, some videos started to do the same thing that happens on google video.....lag.
- Dakusan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the first time youtube is actually working for me instantly without having to wait for 20 minutes or refresh 10 times to get things to load. About freaking time.
- acidtrx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the new updates are great.
Hopefully they'll keep up with them to make their service even better/user friendly. - Irimi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Check out my stream... its the best... officially.
http://www.youtube.com/stream?s=8454144 - miaow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the ad doesnt seem to load as clumsily, seems an improvement.
- stockjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope they dont change too much, Honestly why folks have to take a good thing and think they need to revise it. The streams feature is a bit buggy still.
Also I'm getting a bit tired of the web 2.0 radiant core thing where websites go for the washed out white pale blue gradient everything look. C-net has done it, Zdnet and now Google is doing it with YouTube stop. - xShadoWxDrifTx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actual i don't like the new layout, the gradient for the Youtube buttons arent very nice now.. i was really used to how the navigation was set up before this, there used to be an actual "home" button for youtube, making it less confusing
Yeah.. these buttons are really seperated, its not too nice in my opinion - 420666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2digg my New World Order stream: http://www.youtube.com/stream?s=7208961
- anmol2k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is getting Google colors.
- chefe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well thats cool
- surrealpath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's great, but why in the world the Javascript popup?
- infatti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why wait for Google to never get some design skills? Just use Stylish as a Firefox add-on to restyle the page.
http://userstyles.org/stylish - vinbot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Before they start adding more features, they should work on making the existing site faster. I'm getting real tired of clicking on videos, then waiting forever for the darn thing to play. It's funny, since Google took over YouTube, it seems much slower than when it was a tiny company running out of an office over a pizzeria. Go figure.
- wheeliedude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What is strange is that I submitted a suggestion vaguely similar to this in early Spetember...
"Maybe there could be a service in the future in the vein of a movie theater?
Think of it;
you found these cool videos on YouTube,
and instead of just posting the links on your favorite forum/sending them to friends through email, you could tell people to join a room to watch the video(s) and chat about it WHILE you're watching it!
You could even build "playlists" of stuff to show in a row!" - aphexmandelbrot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://youtube.com/stream?s=12320769 has Trainspotting, Pete and Pete, and Hey Dude. And Indy Music videos. And other stuff.
Ironic enough - it's also my channel. - Darkrazor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0rofl i love this man :) the funny movies ' lets laugh together ' :D
too bad youtube banned porn =/ - coldstatue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For those of you using FireFox, check out the You Tube Dark Grey Redesign script for Stylish, or whatever script manager you use. It looks great.
