- Hormelinator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42I wouldn't even read my own comments
- johnwyles, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35The description of
"If you wouldn't read your own blog, then no one else will either."
is totally stupid and makes little sense.
Look at myspace, livejournal, blogger, and other social blogging networks. I am sure none of these saps would read their own dribble but miraculously when you look to the bottom of the page you see 15 comments from various and sundry sources. My take: there are a lot of people wasting a lot of time doing useless things for no good reason. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Most obvious advice ever.
- crackedplastic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18I wouldn't read my own blog if it had annoying ads and spam. Wish the submitter would realize the same.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17I don't expect anybody to read my blog.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Wow, there are more flashing links and ads on that page than there is content.
And I have Adblock turned on!
Someone measure the sides where the lame links are, and compare the size of them to the width of the "story" text. - Clearz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15I wouldn't go near reading my own blog and neither should you. Be warned.
- glog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Part 2 in the series will address another important question: would you touch yourself?
- communityiskey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I have to read my blog, otherwise it goes unnoticed:)
- madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Nothing unique in that article ....
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Oh, was there an article between all those ads...I couldn't tell. Friggin' blogspam.
- MightyNe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Digg comments are generally pointless.
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm on my own blogroll.
- hockey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yes I read my blog every day. . . in fact I'm the ONLY one who reads my blog!
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Ack dig down plz
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I once wrote a blog about my bowel movements. Every day I would write about the texture, consistency, etc. It was meant to be my commentary on the value of the "blogosphere". Then it started to get a lot of hits and I had to close the sucker down.
- pollardito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5those 15 comments are from various people who believe there is some sort of blog karma whereby if they read and comment on someone else's boring blog then other people will read and comment on their own boring blog
- FairlyStupid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To all bloggers:
http://NobodyReadsYourStupidBlog.com - Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6You would think it would be obvious.. until you realize you don't know if you're interesting or not. It's like how you can't tickle yourself of smell your own breath.
- linkiii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I just poked my eyes out!
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6or in this case, instead of X, I just click the circle/slash. ;)
- psycobunykiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3blogging...what ever happened to chain mail
- airwalkery2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34. How much money do you make when you copy a video from YouTube and place it on Digg with a copied description of the video?
This stuff is important people. - attractivetb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Stop it.
Both of your blogs are awful and unreadable. - cdigger21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3terrible article...he even tries to tell us how to pick random articles from our own blogs:
"Take 10 posts at random from your blog (the 1st, the 11th, the 21st (and so on))"...not sure how random that methodology is... - theWaterboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I read my own blog BECAUSE I know no one else wants to. Seriously, what do I have to say that is anymore interesting or important than anyone else.
I think the only reason most people have blogs is give themselves a voice to express their feelings, whereas they may not be comfortable or able to do so otherwise.
BTW -- the same thing goes on here at digg :D - MightyNe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4That definitely wasn't witty or funny.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This also applies to all fanfiction as well, except it doesn't matter if the writer would read it or not.
- RocketSeason, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I read my own blog often. I find its kind of like masterbation.
A bit shameful, but still very satisfying. - LiceHelpDotCom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Not everyones blog is made for their peers.
I would not read my own blog because I already know about my industry (head lice)
My blog is for people with little knowledge about my industry...I could care less what my competitors are doing with their blogs if they are trying to reach ME.
My blogs are made to inform people who have contracted head lice and want fast, precise, information.
So , no, I wouldn't read my blog...but the people that need to will. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Well, as I blog solely to keep friends updated in my life and 99% of the blogs I read are friends keeping me updated in their life, Yes, yes I would.
It is all about target audience - Hetman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I cant even stand the sound of my own voice let alone the dumbass idea's that are always comming out of my head. There is no way i would read my own blog if i had one.
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Didn't Groucho Marx say something like this?
"I refuse to read any blog that would have me as a subscriber." - madeingermany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You must have real bad memory ;)
I do occasionally read my blog.... to look up a link or a recipe.
I use my blog like my own private digg and it's ok if nobody else reads it (of course I'm happy if somebody stumbles there and finds it useful). - seocontestd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I say: If you enjoy writing your blog, odds are someone else will enjoy reading it.
- lineman60, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2to quote animal farm some animals are more equal then others, my blog is more like my personal journal, things that i find neat and how i am feeling at the moment. I don't update it regularly and i don't expect people to read it. It is public so if my friends or family can see it and the rest of the world can as well, but they are not my intended audience. This article would be useful for a commercial blogger but I would expect them to have taken some journalism courses (or at least study Journalism and literature ) and know what they are doing if they want to be 'more equal'.
- dbzer0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I write my blogposts so that people who care about me can find out what is going on in my life if they are interested. I don't care if random people read it. If I have something worthwhile to say I will put it on digg or on various other aggregators and hope it is noticed.
If you write about random stuff like politics or cooking recipies, you've got a "Web Site" not a (We)blog - kevinbowen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There must be some sort of updated , Zen koan in there. "What is the sound of one-blog clapping ?"
Oh, and I only read mine, if I am afraid that I drunk-posted there the night before. - FairlyStupid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Which blog is meant to be read as a book? Any examples?
- neave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Aw, looks like somebody needs a little love in their life ;)
- omgomgomg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3buried. 'SEO' was all over this guys blog.
- Cwo655321, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2now i know why actors dont watch themselves :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I don't even think I would listen to my own podcast sometimes. Such is the case with most of the stuff we try to put out there. Honestly, I don't think all of us are out there to 'be seen' so much as to sometimes get our thoughts out and just do something we really enjoy. I mean, most people who have home recording studios aren't really expecting to become the next big thing exactly either.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Well clearz, you were right. Your blog IS awful!
- DivisibleByZero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Feh, I wouldn't dare run my company's product, but evidently somebody likes it. Otherwise we wouldn't be in business.
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I wouldn't read most of my blog, though I often re-read many pieces. That's why I made a "Best-Of" list on the sidebar. But anyway, I write for the sake of writing, not to be read. I write for me, not for others. That methodology is how I've earned very few, very loyal readers. That's the way I want it.
- bmeshier, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sounds like common sense to me. However, not all blogs are meant to be read like a book. In fact, most are just references of information. So why would anyone want to subscribe to any blog for that matter?
- wipey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This was the ***** article I've ever read. The few points it discussed were common sense (and the reasons I always put off creating a blog) and the article as a whole was pretentious and short.
(and now I sound like a *****, but it's true) - lex10, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hell yes: http://www.glyphjockey.com/glyphblog.html
- mindwalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, I didn't really intend it as sarcasm, but I guess that's what it was, because I understood what they meant.
