- tomato1324, on 03/22/2009, -3/+155dugg for the "real life situation - animals on trips"
- shitdigga, on 03/22/2009, -2/+97hmmm....somebody didn't get The Sims for Christmas back in 2001.
- Irlande, on 03/22/2009, -0/+83This is so shockingly detailed, you'd really wonder what the point in it is. Or who pays for it!
But wow, it's truly fantastic. I'd love to see it alright, especially after they introduce the airport. - exploringfox, on 03/22/2009, -1/+75I actually want to go to Hamburg now.
- kennyROAR, on 03/22/2009, -2/+74whorehouse ftw.
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -2/+72"Thick people, thin people, animals on trips."
lol - Totz83, on 03/22/2009, -1/+56***** me, it even has a whore house
- oteque, on 03/22/2009, -4/+55ah..must be so expensive..but who cares right? its world's largest!
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 03/22/2009, -0/+45I love the shot of the rescue efforts to get the body from the bottom of a creek.
- jakash, on 03/22/2009, -0/+37Trains are ***** awesome
- LordStryker, on 03/22/2009, -0/+33Mine goes around in a circle. There's even an on switch and a button for the horn.
- triple110, on 03/22/2009, -0/+32You don't go to a whorehouse to ***** yourself...that would defeat the purpose of a whorehouse :P
- cyberdork, on 03/22/2009, -0/+32They were very successful with their first exhibition, earned millions in entrance fees, moved to a prime location in Hamburg and have extended it year by year.
The guys who run the company are well known in Germany and every couple of months you see some reports on TV about their latest projects. - FDisk, on 03/22/2009, -1/+32Wunderbar !
- soisoisoi, on 03/22/2009, -0/+26Dugg for "very alive humans"
- STARTSOMETHING, on 03/22/2009, -1/+26I wanna jump on the display, and roar like Godzilla.
- disillusioned, on 03/22/2009, -1/+25Okay, the central control stand is nuts. Also, $15M and 160 employees over 9 years... this is nuts.
- Anand999, on 03/22/2009, -0/+22I wonder if one of the buildings in the model contains a real tiny version of this train set model inside of it?
- bal00, on 03/22/2009, -0/+21The cars aren't dragged by a magnet. They have electric motors and rechargeable batteries. A computer monitors the voltage and instructs the cars to drive to a (hidden) charging station when it gets too low.
They can take all kinds of different routes, avoid blocked roads and they actually follow the rules of the road (stop in front of traffic lights, use turn signals etc.).

- ClearBox, on 03/22/2009, -0/+16I have visited this place and it is truly amazing! If you love model trains and happen to be visiting Hamburg, Germany - I highly recommend you make this one of your stops.
Also, get there early as the lines are very long and can take 35-45 minutes to get in. - AussieVesti, on 03/22/2009, -0/+15I've always enjoyed model railways as of the immense amount of effort required to create it. From most model railways I've seen, they leave no feature untouched. I congratulate all hobbyists for proving the people a way for people to see our world from another persepctive.
- soapandfoam, on 03/22/2009, -0/+15red light district for those... bad reputations.
- ianweller, on 03/22/2009, -0/+14What will they think of next — a model of the MBTA system?
- cyberdork, on 03/22/2009, -0/+13More impressions in HD:
http://vimeo.com/2185573 - aussieNickuss, on 03/22/2009, -0/+13Well....apparently that's an entire multi-story building filled with trains. I think you'd need quite a few very large houses to fit that it.
- thebeginning, on 03/22/2009, -2/+15If I was miniature, I would be all over that.
- jmewhite1, on 03/22/2009, -0/+12and "the no longer so life (live) ones"
- kelvinlls, on 03/22/2009, -4/+13Cool stuff! You'd need an entire house to fit this in!
- WannaBeSquare, on 03/22/2009, -2/+10Aww *****. The worlds largest model train set USED to be a couple miles away from my childhood home, and I used to be such a trains fanatic. It even made the Guiness book of world records! ***** Germans *grumble*.... killed my family and then killed my dreams *grumble*
- inactive, on 03/22/2009, -0/+7Is it just me or did the narrator sound like some high quality text-to-speech system.
- greatdevourer, on 03/22/2009, -1/+7The cars are dragged along with magnets under the roadsurface, I guess the boats are similar
- rojaro, on 03/22/2009, -0/+6I've seen both Modelltrains and i think the one in Hamburg is bigger. Actually the Guinness Book of World Records also recognized the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg as being the Worlds biggest Model Train.
- MtheoryX, on 03/22/2009, -0/+6Something in New Jersey falling behind? Well, ya don't say.
- CCmachined, on 03/22/2009, -0/+6except when a return 40 miles for a 16 year old to see some friends that moved away is £25 (36 $) here in britain. complete bollocks...
- duli42, on 03/22/2009, -2/+8That's just what they want you to think. The truth is, a group of German explorers discovered this miniature civilization sometime in the early 60's. Slowly but carefully it was moved to this secure location where it could be studied but lack of funding has forced them to open it to the public as a "model"..
- HareBall, on 03/22/2009, -1/+7I'd rather have this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKUCJasMG8o
- i38warhawk, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5You're a ***** tool and a moron, this place has been in under constant construction for years.
- MrChunks, on 03/22/2009, -6/+11To see some model trains? Really? There's better reasons to go visit Hamburg than a model train set.
- MonkeyNinja99, on 03/22/2009, -0/+5I want to see the statistics for the number of animals going on trips.
- zalery, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Dugg for Tobias Funke at 0:18
- JacksonYaya, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4Very Cool! Impressive flyover camerawork also.
- 49CentTacos, on 03/22/2009, -1/+5Would they turn you away if you came in a giant lizard costume?
- Tuche, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4it is not, 7€ ( student price ) without timelimit . . .
it is really nice there !! - 64bit, on 03/22/2009, -1/+5The best part of this video is how the narrator bashes Sweden.
- mmittimm, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4There are lot's of reason's to visit any big city. What's your point?
- kd1s, on 03/22/2009, -0/+4That might not be too difficult. At least that system covers a smaller geographic area depending on if you include the commuter layover yard in RI.
- Stormwern, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3aka german :)
- HeyBob, on 03/22/2009, -1/+4I can't believe they showed the guy getting a BJ in the cornfield! (It's been featured on DIGG before, I just never knew where the model was based)
- JamesWjRose, on 03/22/2009, -0/+3Wipis,
THANK YOU. I have been looking for this place since I moved to NYC from Seattle 7 years ago. (Now I just have to find out how to get there) We caught a show about it, but lost the name during the move. Thanks kindly. (geek joy) -
