Well... Well... What do we have here?
groovearmy.com — It seems that I ’ve been ripped off, and not by some cool suave artist type, but by some dude by putting up one of my images on his profile on myspace.com.One JEFFREY MENDOZA to be exact, and boy I’m sure he’ll be surprised with how his Ultra-Cool, Totally-Rad, Awesome myspace page looks now!

- schroeder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I wouldn't actually call it being ripped off. The majority of the images on myspace were just found on the internet. No one is claiming they created it or is trying to make money off it. They just found something they liked and wanted people to see it. This sounds like the RIAA complaining that kids acting like idiots to the newest Debbie Gibson song should have to pay them to use it. I think that on the internet, unless you claim to have specifically created something yourself, it's believed to be created by someone else. However, it does suck that the image was hotlinked...
- zelot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That is true, but if you actually read the terms of the Creative Commons License that covers the blog it is a stipulation of the license that:
"With a Creative Commons license, you keep your copyright but allow people to copy and distribute your work provided they give you credit"
(from http://creativecommons.org/license/)
and further more in the actual license document itself:
Attribution. You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work). (from http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/)
So it is still a breach of licensing terms.- TuxNuts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You should have added (And I Steal Bandwith, too!) at the bottom of the phrase.

Don't you think someone *owns* these images that are just "found" on the Internet? In addition to that what about the fact that this user is leaching bandwidth. +grooveARMY clearly operates under a creative commons license, this is a disregard of that license. This image has been stolen. Or would you suggest it was borrowed? No such thing without permission and then it is usually good kudos to host it on your own server! - grooveARMY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the support guys, much appreciated, I'm sure he'll think again next time before stealing my content!
- GordonV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What would be real funny is if you made a script to edit the image so anyone could put anything on his site. Now that's Web 2.0!
- grooveARMY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmm now there is an idea, if its still up tomorrow i'll do just that
- TheRooster1972, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tim that would provide hours of entertainment! Great idea gordonv!!!
