Oh god, please, no... - philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -4/+62I like chick on chick the best
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49I hate black on white, especially when my monitor is at full brightness. Makes sense for paper, but not computer monitors.
- jockser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+50And I thought that blinking, scrolling green text on black is.....
- sid0, on 10/12/2007, -3/+47Er... um... the date of the post is Feb 17. And the study is from 1997.

And before some person says April Fools:
"By Alexey Gavrilov on February 17, 2007" - spookyttws, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29I'm sorry, but green on yellow screams 1997 (actually like the article states). Also puke on jaundice? I'll stick with my black on white.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27only the best thing ever.

- artanis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20no you didn't.
- Easty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13They forgot yellow on white with blinking text and comic sans.
- mcnappy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17@postcaja
how does it feel to get dugg down by kevin himself? - ogore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9ctr+option+apple+8 (inverted colours) on an mac can give ur eyes a break, especially in dark rooms
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7only if it has skulls. rotating ones. on fire.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16@postacaja
no, u were dugg down for questioning why an article containing two sentences (the one you dugg earlier) didn't get popular but one containing some result data from the study and more info was dugg by a lot off people (this one). also the one you dugg earlier was just a link to a digg clone... - unruled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6having studied cognitive psychology this last term, this exact topic came up (readability).
A non-cursive font with white on blue or yellow on blue is the most easily readable. Fact.
this article is innacurate, just because a psy schlomo shouts green means nothing. - woogley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6dugg for the clever crash page
- dev3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is how 404's should be handled
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If the pages in my textbooks are yellow and the print is green, I want a refund.
- MSX2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Let's all have leprechaun themes on our PC's now.
- KibibyteBrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I like very light gray(almost white) on black the best. Very easy on the eyes if working with the code for many hours. I know lots of coders like the black on gray medum scheme, but I don't really like it(too little contrast). Both focus on not blasting light into your eyes, though.
- ThisIsBob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you have "response time" issues for text, you got bigger problems that readability.
- SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well I guess we at least know one thing...Digg will stop the blink/marquee revolution by totally screwing up comments. :D
- kitkatsavvy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4ive have got a blue/purple sort of text colour on a black background on my website, and i have links and stuff with a dull pink colour against the black background.. i used to have white against black, but the words keep jumping out at you.... yellow against black isnt good either... i just hope my blue/purple colour against black is good enough...
- sstidman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I don't understand how this color scheme could make a web page more readable. Since green text on a yellow background will surely make everyone poke their own eyes out, noone will be able to see anything.
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4no, it's the new web 2.0.0.3 beta
- sharigan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4BRAZIL! GOOOAAAL!
- georgiepiebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah, i like bright bluish colors on black, i find it easy to read (on a monitor at least), glad to see im not the only one.
- h0dg3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Marked as inaccurate.
- adrianmonk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7It's not an April Fool's joke. I've personally met the person who did the study, and in fact we had a conversation about the results. She's quite an intelligent person, actually.
- bethlagarrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Also marked as inaccurate. This sounds like the sketchiest survey ever conducted - they measured "reaction time"? They measured only a handful of type and color combinations?
Any decent, educated designer will tell you that "reaction time" has little to nothing to do with whether or not it should be used. They tested red type on a green background - I don't care if people can read it faster, nobody's going to want to read red on green for an extended period of time. This whole thing should be filed under "useless trivia."
Lame. - mhanley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Perhaps Digg needs a new feature that will allow you to select a desired color scheme in your Profile?
- happyfappy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is a *small* study conducted a *decade* ago.
The consensus that's emerged from usability studies since then is that black on white is best, followed by /any very dark color/ on /any very light color/. - Toloran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, never knew that before: Thats awesome :D
- GrendelT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Woohoo! Go SFA! Axe 'em Jacks!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Amen.
See: http://maddox.xmission.com/ - aspirinetu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2is she hot?
- jsballardx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wooohooo SFA!
Time for me to get drunk and have unprotected sex like I did in college. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I disagree, white on blue is most readable because:
1)the difference in light frequency, blue has the lowest frequency on the visible spectrum
2)hence ambulances/police/emergencies flashes blue lights (in UK) and blue and red in america - jamesvaughn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Chess experts already knew this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes it's the fastest way to vomit know to web kind.
- rockykabir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It is the theme used by gumtree.com (craigslist type subsidary of eBay)
- mpphan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That, with low opacity tables is what everyone's freaking myspace looks like.
- vidar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like being able to get to a link without a username/password ;-) Wordpress error...
- sonofagunn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now if they can just do some research on how to make that bar graph easily read...
- bollingdavid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like white on blue.
- sliljestrand, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would rather have my user not reading it than my site looking like that.
- akkuma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This has to be bogus as I actually read a study that had figures showing anything with black is by far better than anything without. The top two being white on black and black on white.
- SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3blink> Arrrrghh!
