  • SeethisPass, on 11/29/2007, -0/+4You'd be surprised. Note there is no sideways pressure to bend or break the pencils. I haven't tested it myself but similar types of support can hold much more than the amount of weight that any normal human might apply.Take a pencil and crush it ,if you can , by pressing _only on the length_ .now multiply that amount of pressure by the number of pencils in the picture.
    It will probably support more than a thousand pounds, unless the pencils are sharpened, and then only the points would break.
