- timusca, on 09/30/2008, -0/+48These comments are cliché.
- netgeek06, on 09/30/2008, -5/+48I've seen each of those pictures at least TEN times on different sites.
- timusca, on 09/30/2008, -0/+31They forgot the "smiling child" whether its for healthcare or a church.
- Spawn2105, on 09/30/2008, -0/+28That image with all the group of business people lined up reminds me alot about the "diversity" picture on the best page in the universe...
http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=st ... -> Go down to 4. - Schooley02, on 09/30/2008, -1/+27What about cliche images used on porn sites! ;)
- ABJ974, on 09/30/2008, -0/+21You find a lot of these images around the web because people often use templates for their sites. If at all possible try and get an original design for your site.
- hokie47, on 09/30/2008, -0/+20I just had to do the research for you and this is what I found.
A women spread eagle
A women bent over just asking for a dick
A nice women with cum over her face
- PinkFloydFan, on 09/30/2008, -0/+18Google image search for business
Image 1) Rising finance graph
Image 2) Group of people
Image 3) Group of people standing in front of the world
Image 4) Tech paraphernalia
Yup, sounds about right... - uruururr, on 09/30/2008, -0/+15while that is true, designers who make custom designs often use stock imagery... not every client has the budget to buy the exclusive rights to a particular image.
that being said i feel like a douche for just recently using the "group of business people" in a design. - ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -0/+13Your mom is cliché.
- jezsik, on 09/30/2008, -0/+11And the "happy retired couple walking hand and hand through the autumn leaves" for banks and healthcare.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+10My personal favorite, "Smiling woman using a laptop," didn't make the list. :-(
- googlyguy, on 09/30/2008, -0/+9Female college student with a backpack. She's everywhere.
- Lendon2020, on 09/30/2008, -0/+8Kinda like the half-naked female warrior wearing a metallic bra and thong on just about every gaming site out there.
- flarn2006, on 09/30/2008, -0/+8You mean this?
http://www.hobonichi.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/0 ...
I've seen this on lots of cybersqutter sites. (web sites with a search box which only searches for ads and has lots of ads on that page) - shiftless, on 09/30/2008, -0/+8It's cliché for the digg effect to bring down a website
- ShooterMcGavin, on 09/30/2008, -0/+7My personal favorite overused images are those stick-figureish people clip art that come with microsoft office. You know the ones you have seen on every single office flier you have ever received?
- Scira, on 09/30/2008, -0/+7a 2 frame gif
- xL0Sx, on 09/30/2008, -1/+7What the hell are you talking about? That's an ad campaign, not a stock image. Could you be anymore off topic?
- 3drage, on 09/30/2008, -0/+6Using a server that won't hold up to the digg effect is so cliche.
- stonebone4, on 09/30/2008, -0/+6But can it run Cryché?
- Vodd9, on 09/30/2008, -0/+6They might be cliché, but they're still pretty efficient for getting the job done. You don't need to be original (not speaking in an absolute way, of course) to have a design that is appealing for the visitors of your client.
- austenallred, on 09/30/2008, -0/+511. Random people just placed all over the place for no particular reason
- SwaggerVision, on 09/30/2008, -4/+9Great article and oh so true. It's a nearly perfect article except for one thing... you actually used all 7! Just kidding. Keep up the great topics.
- Haecceity, on 09/30/2008, -1/+6I thought cliche was a noun and cliched was the adjective. My dictionary seems to agree with me.
- scitz0frenic, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5Dont think I have seen the redhead call center girl, or else I would have been calling.
- EatSleepJeep, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5SHUT UP! My two best friends died from cliché.
- stealthc, on 09/30/2008, -0/+5I like how I didn't have to click through 14 pages to see 7 images. You get a digg, you very polite article, you.
- Rothgarr, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Those have actually been the "Top 7 Most Cliché Stock Images Used" since before there even was such as thing as web design. They have been way overused in print as well.
I'm surprised that chess pieces and gears aren't up there, though. - inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4I can't see the article, its down. Is happy girl with a camera on the list? The one you see on every photo editing software package?
- rocket97, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4I figured that that construction worker with the pick or shovel with "Under Construction" would be on there... but then again this isn't the late 1990's early 2000's.
- Stanly22, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4I've used all of those except for the finance graph. I'm so cliche. Going to have to find a way to use ALL of them together in my next site. Hopefully on the same page.
- Elranzer, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4They're missing that girl on all of the O'Reilly books (as well as EVERY other tech how-to book/website). The one where it's a semi-overhead shot and she's tilting her head, as is she gives a crap about your success.
- kotrin, on 09/30/2008, -2/+6Steal free image or spend money to take one...that is why you find it everywhere. Time is money. More websites you can crap out more money you make.
- brakzilla, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4They forgot the image of the girl in a red sweater in front of the rackmount systems with her arms folded and the smirk on her face.
- FredFredrickson, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4It seems to me that the call center picture is usually a sassy looking black woman, or sometimes an Asian woman with a headset on. It cracks me up.
- DMDekoth, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Steal something that's free?
- MrChunks, on 09/30/2008, -3/+7Hmm.. my findings were a little different to yours:
A woman trying to insert a horses ***** in her ass (5)
A woman bent over on hands and knees being ridden by various breeds of dog (8)
A man elbow deep in, what I assume to be, a cow's ass (3)
I'm guessing I'm looking in all the wrong places though. Or right places perhaps. - stinkybrinker, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4Lol, my company uses every one of these images on our website.
- OfficialJoe, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4LEAVE CLICHé ALONE!!!!11!!!!! :_(
- wilhoitm, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3What about the rack of powerful servers in a computer lab.
- moolcool, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3they forgot the generic opera singer from Word's clipart
- agsinger, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3it was a joke...jaws is clearly awesome
- CrushThemTorg, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3They forget Everywhere Girl. The face of education-related products and earnest, but not necessarily conformist youth: http://www.theinquirer.net/en/inquirer/news/2005/0 ...
- OropheR, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3He forgot this one: one or more people working on their laptop(s) in an office deprived of chairs or desks, basically laying on the floor. Very often seem but very stupid idea at the same time as there is nothing more uncomfortable than to work laying on the floor.
- BoneStamp, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3What about the scales of justice image?
- eigenweasel, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3What about the mixed-race woman with curly hair using a laptop/microscope/technology device?
She's everywhere. - bigteebo, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3For print media, I've seen the stock photo "chick with red vinyl pants swinging her hair to the right" on a Coby DVD player, some promo offer at Burger King, posters at Sam Goody, and about 4 other places. You've seen her. Heck, this site had a pic of a laptop screen showing some woman in a field of sunflowers that gets used over & over again.
- Brand0, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2What beautiful photography. Simply inspiring.
- Bahamut240, on 09/30/2008, -0/+2Don't forget the handshake in front of the world.
