- RaistlinMajere, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18It's hard out here for a PMP...
- navster15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1432meg Rio player for me! Only played six songs. I must have listened to "The Real Slim Shady" at least 200 times on that thing.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I love my iPod, and I'm a fan of iRiver, too. Is that allowed?
It seems like iRiver is the only company out there that actually tries to compete with Apple's iPod, rather than whining about it on sites like idont.com or suing when they can't keep up, like Creative.
iRiver actually takes some risks and innovates with something different and cool. The only reason I'm not getting one of these yet is that 2 gigs really isn't enough for me.
As soon as one of these is available with removable memory, I'll be the first in line to get one. - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11How will I be able to see all my por....errr, Sci-fi flicks through all the finger prints
- JohnnyVu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11For I second there, I thought it said iRiver Glix 2GB Pimp
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Why would you say that? The only problem I see here is the amount of storage. I watched the video of the interface, looks slick. The design is beautiful, and iRiver has a reputation for high-quality products. How is that not getting it right?
- Yankidank, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Same price for a 2gb nano, only you now have a screen worth watching something on. 2gb is a bit small though, I would rather have something 4+ gb for my portable media.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7True, but everything I've read about the mrobe said that the actual execution was terrible. This design seems a lot more well done to me.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11100 dollars per gig now eh?
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12You work at best buy?!?!?
There goes all your credibility............. - BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It probably does. Nowadays if you don't drop your vowels or radom letters then you 'aint hip! ROKR SLVR PEBL RZR!
- xswag, on 10/12/2007, -2/+82GB of storage is just not enough these days.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"I mean I am the Worlds biggest Apple fan."
no kidding.... - lemorex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9The Olympus mrobe 500 had screen only for more than a year now.
- MooMaster716, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Rio Karma for life
- ziggystardust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's nice. Reminds me of my Sirius S50. The thing I dont like is that handling the screen leads to smudges from oil on your hands. Also these types of designs lead to scratches.
- msaleem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I was just responding to another post about a 'mini' player, and I mentioned the clix as a better alternative. This is quite cool.
- lahuard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9The worst part is that it could be twice as good as the iPod and half the price, yet it would never replace it.
- CoolDude330, on 10/12/2007, -2/+632 meg? I think the PSP took their idea and make it 5 times more expensive.
- LouisC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's the same as the U10 except it's a PMP.. iRiver's had it for a while too.
- zyang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i have an iriver u10 which sports the exact same interface. my u10 only has 1gbs storage, but it's enough to load fresh episodes of daily show and colbert report, which keep me entertained on the bus, and enough storage leftover for my music. it's really a great device if you could look beyond the fact that it's not made by apple.
- dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It would have to be a touch screen rather than have buttons around the edges. Watch last weeks DL.tv episodes to see how it really works. Its cool, but it's not enough to seperate me from my Nano.
- aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3this product came out a WHILE ago. old news.
- Ryokurin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5This is an improved model. faster processor, intergrates with windows media player and cheaper.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Swift..the bug is in your asinine immature attitude. You DO ralize that most people HATE iTunes, right? So that is a "bug" of the iPod. And you are NPOT smarter than anyone because you prefer it. I know you feel the need to find ways to make yourself SEEM superior to someone else for one in your life. But this post just proves the opposite.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are not TRYING to kill the iPod. They are simply trying to co-exist with Apple and earn a nice profit. I just don't get why so many people on digg think that technology markets can only sustain one brand. Every new product has to be labeled a "XXX Killer" and it is just silly. IRiver turns a nice profit already. And with this device, they may see their bottom line increase even more.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, it's agreed: iTunes is dog *****.
- lahuard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I bought an iRiver when I was little and mp3 players where still a newfangled thing, and Napster was all the rage. It had 128 meg, and for a few weeks, I was the coolest kid on the block.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2To you maybe not. But to many people, it is more than enough. You have to realize that A LOT of people do not wish to put every single song or video that hey own on their portable device and never take it off.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3yeah really, i've seen one of these at the beginning of last year.. (it's pretty cool)
- afty8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So how come the U10 is only 1GB and still costs $50 more than the clix? They look the same to me.
- metacoola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait, it doesn't play divx right, isn't just divx a form of .avi? Sorry if this is a stupid question, because no torrent I've ever seen that had divx in the name ended in that name. I would love a small portable gadget that would just allow me to play my mp3's and avi's easily.
- fatcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if it was a tad skinnier i would buy it hands down, but i geuss my nano has got me spoiled. but if they were to make one of these that was around half as thin, i would be the first in line to get one, but my pocket room is precious to me because we arent aloud to carry backpacks at school because of bomb threats
- crdlb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The hold switch physically locks the screen, so you can't force it to one button in your pocket. (It makes the buttons rigid).
- dombi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Still can't play content from the iTunes music store.... :-(
- rodan32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah baby. Love my Karma. Except it broke, so now I'm stuck with a creative player. I've got the U10 (old version of the clix) and it's very sexy in person. Video quality is so-so for anything but cartoons, screen is gorgeous for photos, interface is a little sluggish. Oh, get the dock if you get the clix. It's possible the best dock ever made for an mp3 player.
- yaos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Slick looking player. If only the capacity was more then just 2GB (At Least maybe 4GB), I would be all over this.
And maybe its just me, but consider how memory is going down in cost, $200 seems a little high for such a low capacity player. - CrackHappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I didn't even ready the article on the iRiver. They have some thing at the top about a MacBook thing you can download to turn it into a lightsaber. That is SO BADASS. Now I want a macbook... damnit.
http://isnoop.net/blog/2006/05/20/macsaber-turn-your-mac-into-a-jedi-weapon/ - Swift2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've always heard that Jobs is skeptical of the subscription model, so now you can only play 30 seconds before you decide to buy. It seems to be working. But I've also heard, fairly reliably, that if the subscription services start getting popular, they'd just have to flip some switches and release iTunes 7 and it's off to the races.
- ReiToei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"anything less than 30 gigs = useless, i love my 60 gb ipod video"
yeah... "useless" - ZekeSulastin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DivX is a compression method; AVI is merely a container file that can contain anything from uncompressed video to DivX/XviD to MPEG4 to Intel Indeo, etc. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVI
- Vhyper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1IT SUPPORTS XVID (MPEG4SP) sheesh- read the specs first.
- geekee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"at two hundred dollars for two gigs, it is not even close to half the price. yes, it could be twice as good as the ipod and half the price, but it's not."
No, just twice as good. - bebopredux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
• Windows XP (Service Pack 1 or higher)
• Windows Media Player 10 or greater
'nuff said. Ugh. - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I really want one of these but 2Gig dosen't cut it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have had my 2gb u10 for about 6months now, its almost completly the same as this clix, this clix is just a remake of the u10 to try and get some more money.
IMO it is not worth it, get the u10 2gb! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There is a iriver 2GB aswell. But i think its only sold in europe. i have one.
- BluParadox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They already have tons of things like that, except none of them run linux (and frankly if you think something needs to run linux to be cool then your opinion means nothing).
I actually like tmobile's MDA...
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Detail.aspx?device=8802ddeb-1ee4-477a-9608-d9cd1e2a903f
That said, dialing on a screen bothers me, and I want a really small phone so I got the Samsung T509:
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/detail.aspx?device=1a7c18b9-a5aa-4b5e-9059-2edf0375541d - geekee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1once again Apple is behind in innovation. All their players waste half their surface area on a click wheel, instead of putting in bigger screens. But once Apple comes out with their model, it will be revolutionary, according to their fans.
- xraycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh ya.
