- toxicredm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Not with this thing!
"Unfortunately, the glass does not reach a high enough temperature — at this time — to actually toast the bread." - solargroovy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Y'all are failing to see the genius of this. All it requires is the purchase of specially pre-toasted bread--available in single or five packs for just $3.99
- Lazybones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9No dig because "Unfortunately, the glass does not reach a high enough temperature at this time to actually toast the bread."
I suppose it is still a cool idea, but maybe next time they should wait till up it works. - bytefoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It doesn't even work, the article says that itself.
- kimos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Seems like special heating glass. Hopefully you'd be able to wash it.
Regardless, It would be pretty dangerous. The toasting surface isn't protected. This is basically like balancing the bread between two vertical standing heating coils with no shield on the outside... Ouch. - Chupathingy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7mmmmmm... iToast.
- toastgodsupreme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Because I like to toast my bread one slice at a time...
Neat idea though. :) toastgodsupreme approves of how it would look in a kitchen. - kimos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6So, the link provided links to here:

Neither of them really say anything. Cool idea. Transparent toaster. But as far as I can tell it doesn't even exist, it's nothing more than an idea... - greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i assume you'd be able to remove the glass panels and put them in the dishwasher or something.
- Waredgo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Cool...I mean, hot...um, you know what I mean?
- shoover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5your sarcas-o-meter is broken :)
- john570, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How about this?
http://www.fishnflush.com/ - srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I finally have a way to warm my transparent bread.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I dunno, but I know who *wants* you to start using apostrophes correctly.
- m85476585, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Never burn a piece of toast again!
- Pulse_Instance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't want a transparent toaster, I want an instant toaster. That would be much better.
- tnwake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4err.. Transparent Bread Warmer.. if they could get it to actually toast bread and it wasn't $100, I'd buy it.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Cool, but it'd get dirty over time and it doesn't look like it'd be easy to clean in between the glass panes.
- srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah. WHOOSH!!!! Ding!........Toast done!
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5How long until there's a transparent toilet? I've been waiting almost all of my life for that. :(
- tnwake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"protective metal casing"
Kinda takes away the whole point of it being transparent now doesn't it :) - smuirhead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4is it java enabled?
- Cerebral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Does this plug into USB or Firewire?
/scarcasm - Zjm7891, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Is this the future of woot toasters?
- AngryPenguin47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Perhaps it uses kind of a Peltier concept, removes heat from the outside and transfers it to the inside to toast the bread. Cool to the touch, but hot on the inside! Peltier toast, w00t!
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I bought a $20 Sunbeam toaster six years ago that has a window so you can see the toast through the coils. I don't know why anyone would need more than that.
- pingwax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Finally a toaster I can stick a fork in.
Good thing too because getting your bread in and toast out looks like it might be annoying. - wax0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Site seems to be going up and down alot, here's a picture anyways;
http://www.plunder.com/Transparant-Toaster-download-1948.htm
Looks like fun but if it doesn't work what's the point eh :/ - Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just stick your hand in there, apparently it doesn't get hot enough to toast bread anyway.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Unfortunately, the glass does not reach a high enough temperature at this time to actually toast the bread."
Thats like posting how you have an engine that gets 1,000 MPG, and then saying "Unfortunately, it doesn't actually have enough power to move my nuts. Wang excluded." - Tomnibus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not only that, one piece and um.. how do you get it out? not to mention the crumb-tray.
- gleapsite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Couldn't they just embed a latticework of some sort of metal heating element into the glass?
kinda like the rear windshield on cars? - drunkenoaf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Toaster: Howdy doodly do. How's it going? I'm Talkie, Talkie Toaster, your chirpy breakfast companion. Talkie's the name, toasting's the game. Anyone like any toast?
Lister: Look, I don't want any toast, and he doesn't want any toast. In fact, no one around here wants any toast. Not now, not ever. No toast.
Toaster: How 'bout a muffin?
Lister: Or muffins. Or muffins. We don't like muffins around here. We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks.
Toaster: Aah, so you're a waffle man.
/sorry - ndansmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2...but does it run Linux?
Sorry, I had to. - UnknownBadger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sorry i cant help but remember this peice i looked at for my art coursework: http://www.tate.org.uk/collection/T/T07/T07513_9.jpg
- bazac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Not hot enough to toast? So it's a see-through breader that lets you see when your loaf goes mouldy then. Marvellous.
- MrTea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@john570
No dice; everything else should be transparent as well. Especially the bowl! :P
@UnknownBadger
what's that? - tnwake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dangit.. I just got the ol' sarcas-o-meter out of the shop last week! Worthless sarcas-o-mechanics
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Couldn't they just make the thing wider and put another slab of "heat-glass" in between for two slices of bread? I mean *****, since the thing doesn't really exist and is just concept art anyway, why not?
- sailor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Doesn't work yet???? THis is just a concept?
this is spam....not dugg and reported - chocolatespoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article could have been written better, so as not to piss everyone off. What an emotional roller coaster! "Don't toy with my emotions, you must know the effect you have on women!"
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Is this the future of woot toasters?"
Where is the bagle slicer? Where is the special temp controlled bread compartment?
Note sorry not a http://www.woot.com toaster.. ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this thing sucks!! It doesnt work!! Its like inventing a chair with no seat and telling people "it doenst work right now"...they should wait and show us a finished product.
- chocolatespoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ alan livingston-moulin rouge
- samuelcotterall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It looks the part, but who wants to toast a single slice of bread.
Yeah, if they improve the heat issue, and make it big enough for a couple of slices, then I want one. - afex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wouldn't it be iToast
