- phpchris, on 07/06/2008, -1/+14The 'Hexagons Island' reminds me of the Giants Causeway in N. Ireland, it's a beautiful place,
http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1&hl=en&safe= ... - MOJIRA, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10FINALLY some art on digg that I haven't seen a million times on CGtalk.
- Kronos6948, on 07/06/2008, -1/+11Damn...I was hoping for Hi Res stuff I could use for backgrounds.
- Carnivale, on 07/06/2008, -0/+10The train scene looks very life-like. I'm always impressed when digital arts strive for realism and can actually pull it off.
- Authustian, on 07/06/2008, -1/+9This post would be so much better if the site actually liked to higher res pics.
- MacBookForMe, on 07/05/2008, -3/+9That is truly beautiful ...so many totally different 'magic' ambients
- grantmoore3d, on 07/06/2008, -0/+6Pffft, I can do that..... (wishes he could do that)
- Pahtcub, on 07/06/2008, -2/+8How the HELL do you do that?!?!?! I can barely crop a photo...
- PabloIV, on 07/06/2008, -0/+6Dude the level of detail... Did anyone else notice the mist rainbows at the little waterfalls?
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -5/+11I really love Beyond The Horizon
- salmonmoose, on 07/06/2008, -0/+5Because he's poached the artwork off other sites. We don't allow hot-linking directly to images in our galleries so the links wouldn't work.
- Waredgo, on 07/06/2008, -0/+5Good taste of the pics in low-res, but why didn't the links to hi-res pics work?
- DavidinBoston, on 07/06/2008, -0/+5Thanks so much for the hi-res links!
- Szandor, on 07/06/2008, -0/+4Some of his art is incredibly photorealistic. Simply amazing. I also really like how he explains the process of creating each work, shows different stages of the creation, and the software/hardware being used.
- MasterThief117, on 07/06/2008, -2/+6These are simply incredible. I envy the skills of these people.
- Zpanzer, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4you use a 3d package! Simple as that... or something.
- arjie, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3I didn't like the first one so much (it's well done, but it doesn't appeal to me), but as I scrolled down: Wow! Those are so beautiful. Red Leaves, Windham Hill are my favourites. I love trees.
- Zpanzer, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4I would give my one nugget to be able to make 3D like Marek Denko.
http://marekdenko.com/ - apple1, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4I really want to learn how to make this stuff now.
- dinostabOMG, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3Wow... how does that happen?
- rgov, on 07/06/2008, -1/+4The hexagon one is quite similar to one of the ages in Myst III: Exile. Google tells me I'm thinking of the Amateria Age, and provides the flyby video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZTRUPSpeNo
- TheFinestShadow, on 07/06/2008, -3/+6How about allowing people to express opinions?
- redwallhp, on 07/06/2008, -0/+3Those are great.
(And the ad here on Digg currently is funny. One of the T-Shirt ads. "Wikipedia is Accurate. [Citation Needed]") - FadieZ, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2I'm surprised they didn't have anything made in Blender.
- noots, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2well technically the sun would light up the bottom left edges of those moons as it is not directly behind them, but it would be really faint sliver of light.
- phpchris, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2It was apparently the result of a volcanic eruption, how it managed to form those shapes ... your guess is as good as mine :)
- rkiga, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2pretty damn amazing what you can make in terragen, especially considering how easy it is to learn (and free!)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terragen - eneve, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Buried for not being The (Insert number here) most fantastic 3d landscapes.
- dullnation, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2I can see what you mean, I just downloaded it and within about 15 mins, I'd already created something that might wow a person that didn't know about the app (minus render time of course). Having said that, it isn't as good as what people create with it. I don't think it would take much time to become as good as everyone else though. It's a nice hobby if you're into that kind of thing but nothing serious.
- biofreak12, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2haha, so true.
Either way CGtalk is the best. - romistrub, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3This looks like it could be the setting of one of the most interesting videogames of all time!
- lisaawesome, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2I think you're lost bro...
- lisaawesome, on 07/06/2008, -0/+2Holy ***** that's awesome! I've never heard of that place before but now I want to go!
- DarkBrother, on 07/05/2008, -2/+4Second one is very realistic and the last one is beautiful.
- zzz@tkz, on 07/06/2008, -1/+3Terragen does require skill to make something amazing, though. Like fractals. Any idiot can open up a fractal editor, and render the first random one and call it art, but a person with skill can create something like this:
http://aeires.deviantart.com/art/Winter-Grace-4219 ... - mikephimikephi, on 07/06/2008, -2/+3Sorry, but "Carapibus" (the last one) doesn't make sense, even for an alien world.
A sun appears to be setting right beneath where the dual moons are rising, and there is no secondary sun or light source which could be illuminating the moon from directly opposite.
/nerd rant - Ventolin, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2Is there an HD version of the Dry Dock? That one is amazing.
- scoottie, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1eh the one outside my window is better
- sandraprinsloo1, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1That is fantastic! I love the use of colors.
http://youfantastic.com/ - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -3/+4that is fantastic .. loved the Worlds Collide one .. pretty good
- wretyz15, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1I use 3ds max to create basic animations, however, I still don't know how these landscapes can come from 3ds max alone.
- killerkabuki, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1The Devil's Tower in Northeast Wyoming is also made of giant basalt hexagonal "crystals"... I believe this was the result of the cooling process
- xtractor, on 07/06/2008, -1/+2jimmick, you're more of a buzzkill than buzz killington. go look at some etchings.
- cslawren, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1it does, you just have to look for them
- NateTheGreat7, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1simply beautiful. makes me wish they were real
- Takuro, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Here's the original res:
http://fc08.deviantart.com/fs13/f/2007/043/5/a/Bey ...
It's a shame that the pictures linked to in that article were often barely bigger than the thumbnail. Only the higher resolution versions really do them justice. - inactive, on 07/06/2008, -4/+4Wow, truly inspirational images
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -8/+8That is some beautiful work!
