- thecatat7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for posting my blog. It's a true archive in that I won't be adding pages, only links to sites that do. I just want to make sure the facts are not lost out there.
In saying that, I will be updating the answers to the questions I have.
Like ...
1) Starting with Fox, what happened to the logo designers who got ripped?
2) Why did the Wall Street Journal decide to put off the article showing the other side?
3) What happened to the Design Organisations? Why the silence?
4) What did LogoWorks put into place to fix similar problems in the future?
5) What's up with all the shell blogs pointing to LogoWorks? (http://www.blogsearch.google.com, then sort by date)

I didn't interact much because there was such an outpouring of offense that designers from seemingly everywhere flooded the thread (one of the largest post counts in the forum's history, I believe) to express their outrage and to clarify that this "institution," raved in surprisingly misinformed reputable business magazines, is nothing more than a corporate unscrupulous farce who took advantage of the naivety of their designers and produced an inordinate amount of substandard, sometimes openly plagiaristic work to unsuspecting clients...for personal gain.
- abosio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, it's one thing to try and offer a "Make Art" button to the masses with quick, meaningless design, but the plagiarism is just something you cannot do. Frankly, the designers whose work has been plagiarised should be taking some action to recoup compensation for their designs and hopefully deter other occasions for this to happen.
- Chris200, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I too was there for the entire saga and watched as many well known design professionals headed up one of the most active discussions on one particular subject that I had ever seen. Remarks for and against LW were coming in from every direction. More people were against them than for them, but there were people who felt they're practice of logo design was just fine.
There were too many examples of plagiarism or apparent infringement to ignore the fact that this company needs to review how to develop a logo in the "proper" manner. They also need to know that we are still keeping an eye on them and this just wasn't a one time rant over a company degrading the value of design and it's professionals. - Polyakov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't like the whole idea of Logo Works business. It's too 'sharky' to be an example of inspiration for me... designers critiques works of designers - I can imagine amount of dirt floating there... there is no place for creativity. I have blogged this story http://www.polyakov.org/wordpress/archives/388 , but from some reason there is no mark in 'who blogged this?'.
