- farr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Hmm, none of these seem terribly attractive... and I would definitely have to agree about the staisfaction of rolling your own. Really this is quite coincidental, as I just spent an hour or so earlier helping my buddy retheme his Wordpress site.
- TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yay! These also just became the top ten most used Wordpress templates.
- hash, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9K2 not being in the top 10 is ludicrous. This is a good list overall though, so you get my Digg.
- suprglux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Techie1 *What's the point of having the best theme? Your site will never be respected if it's like everyone elses*
While I agree you with you there.. The point is that not everyone knows how to develop/code there own templates or have the resources to hire a Web designer. Plus they can always be used on personal blogs. Of course if your serious about blogging then you better get a custom design done. - SeoulBrother, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The problem with wordpress is that it's almost too easy to slap any "top 10" template on their blog. Not many take the time to customize or create their own templates from scratch.
- Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1K2 is not a Wordpress template. It's a template combined with custom plugins and is damn near a total rewrite of the Wordpress system. They won't even support it on the Wordpress forums because it's so different.
Anyway, the best part about Wordpress's templates is how simple and easy they are to make. You can make one from scratch in about an hour, if you know just a little PHP and a lot of HTML/CSS. - cds0528, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Also, another one they missed was fluidity...
Overall an OK list, probably 3 or 4 of them I was impressed by, yawned at the rest. - TemplateBlogger, on 02/10/2009, -0/+0Beatiful wordpress templates, anyway I prefer Blogger.
http://www.templatesblogger.net - RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So if i were to use one of these wordpress templates and combine it with last weeks "bestest wordpress plugins" I would have the worlds best blog?
who reads books anyways... telling us what is right and straight... elitists - boyter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Techie1
Sorry I should have mentioned MOST sites using wordpress look like they are running wordpress. Its the same with PHP-Nuke, Mambo, Joomla etc.... With sufficient talent they do look diffrent but on the whole... - masterc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I've seen better...
- kevmann16, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've been using Typography Theme for a while, for my blog and my standard site design guess its just became to over used.

- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Stop it please.
- harris2004, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1those templates arent that professional..id ont know why they would be called BEST
- frukt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I absolutely agree about K2. I'm personally fed up with this plastic-rounded-corners-gradients-clutter aesthetic that seems to dominate the 'Web 2.0 era' K2 is just so clean, fresh and nicely minimalistic compared to current mainstream web design; excellent stuff. http://getk2.com/
- Arbinshire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Textpattern > Wordpress.
- michaelyurechko, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Great, Top ten most used, I guess its time to design my own, since I use the first one :-/
- boyter, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The problem with wordpress is that everything that uses it looks like it uses wordpress.
- noreturn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1No Blix? I'm quite surprised. And why the microscopic screenshots?
- iAlex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Nice themes. Thanks. :)

http://duggmirror.com/design/Ten_Best_Free_Wordpress_Templates/ - Bega, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I designed my own once, and then I realized the name (unfortunately embedded into the banner, which I was too lazy to remake) sounded like an std, "Burned with desire". (it's also a trance song, fyi) Then I started using Kiwi.
