- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50Thus requiring yet another revision to the kama sutra.
- acetv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45The phrase "after the jump" needs to die a painful death.
- tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38a very roundabout way of saying "dupe"
- sooperdooper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31How helpful you must feel.
- MCurley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27"The chair is available in a variety of fabrics and finishes, but all that versatility in inclination from steep to flat will cost you a steep $2310, if you're so inclined."
Anyone see what he did there? - zadadka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23I'll bet a two-year-old jumping up onto Daddy's head would have a severely detrimental effect on the reclined chair's Centre Of Gravity.
Otherwise, looks great. - eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17iceberg says:
So if I suddenly sit up, will it impale the unlucky bloke standing behind me? - eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15um... um, no, nauzilus... no, you didn't see what he did there... :(
- sooperdooper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14At least when there's no freaking "jump," as in this case. Way to just yank the first paragraph of a blog post without any editing whatsoever, guy.

"I seriously wonder about the karma sutra comment, along with the comment about a two year old jumping on daddy's head."
Awwww, with a name like that and a comment like that, I think we have another virgin! ^.^ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10when i saw this title i instantly clicked on it. Then the pictures came up and i was severely disappointed. So I looked back at the title and realized that it didn't say gravy chair. :(
- orangekid13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I would never get my programming done... I would just push the chair back and it'd be game over: sandman wins.
but it looks so comfy, i wonder if i could build one, i don't want to pay for that ***** - mianos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Nice chair but no digg for being a blog to a blog to a blog to a blog. This is getting ridiculous. How many half witted 'bloggers' does it take to add a line or two to a story and point to another story? As pointed out earlier, original here: http://www.stokke.com/product.asp?p=Gravity&la=EN&na=UK&div=C
The original link has much more information showing positions etc. - skankyBacon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@decades
Ooh, someone speculating on the internet about about someone else's sexual activity...I bet you are just constantly having sex, am I right? You're such a stud I bet, IRL. - NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8So here's the deal. You buy that, and I go buy an old fashioned cushy large computer chair, two Geforce 8800GTXs , a widescreen monitor, tank up the car, pack my fridge up with food and maybe buy a new pair of shoes. Enjoy your new chair.
- thirdman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Who cares? Maybe people missed it the first time round. Don't know about you but I don't have time to sit watching every single digg that comes along.
- lolwtfhaha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Oh wow I *do* like your screensaver...

AHHGGHH My #$@%ing FOOT omg I have to go to the @#%ing hospital now
Replace foot/hospital with arm, leg, paw, tail, baby, vet, pediatrician respectively. - pu-z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5My uncle has one of these, he got it some years ago. It is a very comfortable chair, but a bit unnerving to get in the back position. It feels it's going to tip backwards, but it never does. Regarding the price, it is incredibly sturdy, probably the reason for not being copied in China yet. The wood is unmatched in quality and when you see the pictures, you understand why. An enormous strain is put on it when the chair is reclined. Also, the absolute minimum wage here in Norway is 9,59 USD and the factory workers make probably double of that...
- Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Magnets! Briliiant!!
That's the first thing that popped to mind when I first read the title.
That feeling, however, soon faded. - lm76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.stokke.com/functionality.asp?na=UK&la=EN&p=Gravity&div=C&nr=01
- knutert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4A very cool animation of the different positions at the above link, as well.

Yup, pretty much. - wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Exactly. It looks cool there, but I bet it looks ridiculous in the standard position.
- CircusNinja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yeah, notice the pic in the middle and right, of the chair positioned upright: the pictures are cut off, right around the space where those 2 massive spears jut out the back of this thing! Had they left them in there, I reckon I would have immediately been put off. Very very clever marketing!!
- Ravenlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agreed. Great concept, absolutely ludicrous price.
- bloodguard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2$2300!? Are they insane? I'm tempted to rough out some CAD drawings and take them to a metal fabricator. Everyone on my xmas list would get a poofty chair worth $2300 (cost to me $200/unit including better cushions).
- nauzilus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hah that'll teach me for not reading things properly!
That's pretty much the definition of getting pwned I think. - dstart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can see Google buying some of these for their offices..
- Talesk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My grand parents had something similar called a rocking chair. It just had a rounded bottom to support a rocking motion as opposed to three flat parts to hold positions.
- mattyxo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Xilon
Maybe it's cause there are ***** like you saying the exact same thing over and over again and there are people like me who are tired of hearing it so we have a set phrase to answer to each one of you annoying pricks.
Wow. I'm really not that angry of a person normally. But seriously. No one cares. This is the internet, where you can actually decide not to look at something if you've seen it before. WHOA! I know. THAT'S F-ING CRAZY. You actually have a choice! WOO. What a crazy world. - theRIAA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1picture to photoshop - photoshop to sketchup - sketchup to paper

If i'm spending 2000+ It better suck my nuts - RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a 2000+ dollar chair that looks like a DIY? I don't think so
- kokorhekkus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glued laminated wood constructs like these (many layers with the majority of the load being applied along the grain of the wood) are extremely resilient. They are used for anything from furniture to roof beams in sports arenas here in the nordic countries.
I've heard of one chair starting to sag a bit that had a laminated wood frame like this. It was a cheap, around $150, IKEA chair. And the reason? Well, lets say even if the chair that cracked a bit provided some bouncy motion I bet the designers hadn't calculated their loads based on 2 people (total weitght > 350 lbs) having sex in it. - pexor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"...I think your music was too loud."
"Are you afraid of it?" - Nexus85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great product... makes me once again proud of norwegian innovation and design(if not the wooden and red colored one, at least the black one looks pretty sleek). The high price isn't really a surprice since I'm pretty used to designer product being pretty expensive over here.
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3no, I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant nauzilus... look again
- tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I've had a go in this and a variety of other way-out-of-my-budget Stokke chairs and they are all superb in both form and function. I would never have thought a chair could be an object of desire but if my Adsense suddenly sky-rocketed (massive if) this would be high up on my list.
- nauzilus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4God bless the marketing department. I don't think any amount of marketing dribble can hide the fact you're going to be paying over two grand for a chair. Then again, if you've got enough space to just throw away for this chair so you don't destroy anything maneuvering it around, $2310 is probably pocket change.
Further kudos to marketing for the name "Gravity chair", what would we do with out you guys? - DigitAl56K, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Yeah, and if someone runs up behind you or trips in passing they can also impale themselves on it. Nice added feature there.
- kokorhekkus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've tried Stokkes non-reclining office chairs, the ones where you sitt kind of half-kneeling. Very comfy actually so these guys really seem to know their ergonomics - which probably means this one is extremely comfy. Would never buy one though (office or reclining chair) because they're a bit to rich for my blood.
Fun fact: one of their most outragous 90s designs actually made it on to Star Trek Next Generation. The chair itself looked like wooden cylinders rising up from the floor, in a non-symmetric fashion, with each cylinder ending with an upholstered 6 inch ball. Distinctly un-chair looking - I guess that's why they let Worf sit in it. - rikabel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ridiculous name, ridiculous price, ridiculous chair. NEXT!
for an office chair, i literally couldn't be happier with my humanscale liberty chair. unless it sucked my nuts. - danmoynihan185, on 02/18/2008, -0/+0Ive tried them... no use.

- panamakarl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No kidding. I looked at that thing and thought its construction mirrored those Balans chairs of a few years ago. Those were also over-priced and developed in Scandanavia (what is it with the Scandinavians and weird, so-called erogonomic seating?). They also didn't last very long.
- dumky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried a chair just like this about 10 years ago, although I'm not sure if it was that brand.
Leaning all the way back was scary at first, but overall, the chair was quite comfortable.
I wish they'd be cheaper, I'd totally get one. - nurick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I bought one of these from a Scandinavian furniture store in Austin back in the 80's. It's great, and it's held up for 20 years. Highly recommended.
