- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -9/+24Yay, propaganda.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+20Where can I find banners to spread IE7?
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I don't care if they make a buck off firefox. It's a free, open source browser that absolutely kicks ass. I use it every day, and if they can manage to eat something in the process of giving us free software I have no problem with that at all.
- Winters, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I know you'll get dugg down, but I think this comment is really funny. :)
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Any idea when FF 2.0 will be released through Automatic Update?
- zaqintosh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6If someone makes a nice "This page is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox" type glossy button, I'll put it on my site (since its CSS works better on my site).
However I'm not really into the "rediscover the web" jargon. - espo111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3haha i submitted this 4 days ago and only got 4 diggs.
and now from someone else.... 687 diggs!!! - benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@xjbri

Now, the Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit entity that develops and distributes Firefox, is forming a for-profit subsidiary that will eventually capitalize on the browser's popularity.
The Mozilla Foundation will announce today that it has formed a wholly-owned subsidiary, Mozilla Corp., that acknowledges the economic value of the Firefox browser, and will attempt to get a return on it without violating the fundamental tenants of the open source Mozilla Foundation.
Today, the only real revenue generator for Mozilla is a secondary pull-down search box that lets users choose which search engine they want to use, including Google (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people ), Yahoo! (nasdaq: YHOO - news - people ), Amazon (nasdaq: AMZN - news - people ), eBay (nasdaq: EBAY - news - people ) and Creative Commons.
Baker says partnerships with these companies generate several million in revenue annually for Mozilla.
like i said. duped. - chapium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I personally could care less what browser other people use. Why not spread these badges?

There's your answer.
(I'll add you to my list though, if anything for your icon) - factoryjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Self promotion: http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/sets/58817/
That's some of the art I did/helped create when I was an admin on the SFX project. - factoryjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This was the design used for the mugs:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/6725146/ - factoryjoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because they made too much money from the search revenues brought in from the Google Search box (somewhere between $40M-$80M). They had to spin off the for-profit corporation in order to handle the money coming in, since, as a non-profit foundation, they weren't allowed to amass such quantities of cash.
- M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/5419510/in/set-58817/
- rhettnyedotorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hello, png? are those even compatible with IE 5 or 6?
- mdshort, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7@Winters
That article title is innacurate, Mozilla has made 72 million over the course of its life and put most of it straight back into the project. Mozilla has never actually had 72 million at any given point in time. - Xilon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3http://www.spreadinternetexplorer.com
I do hope it's a joke. - M4cb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wish there was a way to use these with Adsense
- w0rd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I'm not hot on the rounded ones but the rectangle banners look rather nice.
- cougar618, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Microsoft has been rather pro-firefox... I wonder if they would put up one of these banners on microsoft.com?
- wvdavis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@ naio21 - You know at first when I read your comment, I thought you forgot the /sarcasm tag, then I saw your icon. You are a true MS/IE fanboy. That's ballsy! +1
- Aupajo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I doubt it but the designer might get a complementary muffin sent from them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"@ naio21 - You know at first when I read your comment, I thought you forgot the /sarcasm tag, then I saw your icon. You are a true MS/IE fanboy. That's ballsy! +1"
Thanks! :-D - zaqintosh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cave? why did you get rated down? I don't get this place.
Anyhow thanks for the button! I'm going to use it :) - cave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3here it is: http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/1783/ffbuttonmo0.png
Wii-styled buttons FTW! :) - mdshort, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Here it is, I couldn't find it in time for the original post:
http://www.0xdeadbeef.com/weblog/?p=182 - drunkard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2They make it sound like I forgot what the internet was.
- TroyBenedict, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nice banners, but I find it a bit ironic that that banner for the site, SpreadFirefox.com, is actually pretty awful.
- cave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Keep watching this space, I'll make you one :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If Mozilla Foundation isn't there for the $$$, why did they changed their domain to .com?
- cave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Loving the vertical banner mock up #1, as for the others... meh.
- kwerboom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0After update 1.5.0.8 is released for the 1.5 version of Firefox because Firefox 1.5's autoupdate feature can't tell the difference right now between a "major" and a "minor" release in 1.5.0.7 and older versions. What this means is that the autoupdate manager would be confused if Firefox 1.5.0.8 and Firefox 2 were in the update channel at the same time.
Furthermore, this is really just a ramp up for the move to Firefox 3 to make sure that Windows 98/ME/NT users are denied Firefox 3 since it will be incompatible with their versions of Windows. The code in 1.5.0.8 will make sure that no one with a legacy version of Windows upgrades past 2.0.0.* to 3. This is important since Firefox 3 will only be able to run on Windows 2000/XP/Vista, Mac 10.2 or 10.3 and up, and current versions of the Linux kernel (I think its nothing older than 1.x but I can't find the Mozwiki article right now) due to changes in the version of C compiler used in the Mozilla office, switching to UTF-8 language tables from ANSI, and a new graphical backend called "Cairo". These changes will make it impossible for older OS's to run Firefox especially Windows 98 and Windows ME since Microsoft never released separate updates for these areas after Microsoft started only bundling such updates to the Windows OS with Internet Explorer 4. - iainc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Oh hold on: I'm just looking for a good photo of a muck-spreader to trick out with some Microsoft graphics ;-)
- xjbri, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@ benitojuarez
"The Mozilla Foundation is a California non-profit corporation exempt from Federal income taxation under IRC 501(c)(3). It is governed by its Board of Directors."
A non-profit corporation is quite different from a regular for-profit corporation. "Corporation" describes organizational structure and the way liability and other legal stuff is handled.
I think you are falsely associating "corporation" with a negative perception of what you think a corporation should be. It's a legal status (technically a legal being). Not for profit means that it doesn't generate a profit. I don't know what you think is bad about that... - Brunofs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I was looking for the FF logo like this one http://sfx-images.mozilla.org/affiliates/thunderbird/reclaimyourinbox_small.png, but isn't there anymore.
Anyone knows where can I get it ? - NOFXY, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I personally prefer to use Firefox but occasionally use Opera when i want to find something quickly since it is quicker at going back and forward once its loaded a page. But for some reason since i updated to version 9, every time i use it the CPU usage stays pinned at 100% so i just don't use it anymore. Like I've said, I don't really use it much so it hasn't bothered me enough to look into any solutions but if anyone would happen to know I'd appreciate your help.
- magusg, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Take back the web... faster and with less memory leakage... Spread Opera.
- cougar618, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1***** YOU TOO SPAMMER!
- compu73rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4There's no need. M$ will spread it for you. What we do need to find is some Stop Spreading IE7 banners.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I think the 1st of NOV like IE7
- Winters, on 10/12/2007, -18/+10Sweet! I can't wait to put these banners all over my EMO BLOG so I can give them free advertising and help them make MILLIONS!!!
