- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24They cost about $15-$30.
- Andrico4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20There is a guy on state street in Madison, WI that does this. He sells them for whatever anybody offers him, usually $20-30. I have about 5 of them.

- steven401, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Notice how there's nobody watching at the start but towards the end he's gathered a whole crowd... :)
- EvilPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Any idea how much one would cost?

The whole point of digg is a community that decides what news is the most important. It made it to the front page of digg. So obviously several people haven't seen it before, and they enjoyed it just the same as I did. If you think a story is a duplicate just hit the duplicate story button. Don't come bitching to us about how you can't sleep anymore because a story made it to the front page twenty-six ***** times. - madm0nk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16@sadbeef
Your type of comment has been on digg at least a 1000 times ....... I would much rather read the same story twice, or watch the same video, then read another person crying dupe. - Burmask, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Wonder if the fumes effect him?
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yeah, his next sci-fi picture will be his lungs x-ray.
- johnpaul191, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12but this dude takes Visa!
- MrBound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Those constant, useless transitions made me nauseuous.
- RedIcculus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11While watching this video, I said to myself a couple times "woah, he messed it up!", but it turned out pretty unique.
I dugg this just for the music in the link. - msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Wanna see ugly? Check out his website:
http://www.sprej.com/ - spiralspirit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I picked one of these up in Mexico for about $10
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8And he didn't even include any fluffy white clouds or happy little trees.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The king of speed-painting, IMO, was "Denny Dent and his Two-Fisted Art Attack"...1948 - 2004.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xddN-ysrFlk - TenMinuteParty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The high from the fumes probably is the inspiration for his paintings
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9$75-$150 Cheap?!?! LOL your getting rippppped off dude...especially for the fact that its in mexico!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5$15 down at fisherman's wharf. Same exact methods... Makes you wonder if they have a school for this kind of art...Come to think about it, its probably one of those late night infomercial packages - "Buy this and find out how to make art that worth >$500"...
- samstafford, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6not so much, you should (really) try do to it on your own. it's not so hard, because all of the patterns "exist" within the paint, it's all about ordering it right. anybody can learn this pretty fast.
- Thisisforkeeps, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6its awesome just watching him make it. that guy has skills.
- defunct123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Very 80's
- steven401, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is the first time i've seen this.
- colpridenyc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I have also seen this in Manhattan. Its on 41 st between 8 and 7th ave, if anyone wants to see. There's two of them doing this. I think they're either from Argentina or Chile.
I think this is real cool but the fumes get me dizzy after a while. Ive bought 2 of them, beautiful just beautiful. - minolium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This guy should design covers for Trapper Keeper.
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Except you'll look like a paint huffer walking out of wal-mart with 8 cans of spray paint every day.
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4what about the sweet soundtrack?
- flair1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm no art critic, but this art sucks.
- solidcube, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I like the way these guys use "happy accidents" to get detail in their art. They use texture from the physics of the interactions of the paper to get those stone textures-- it's semi-realistic because it's a fractal process, it's similar in some ways to the processes that make rock, stone, etc.
Techniques like edge-lighting and the basic airbrush style the guy uses are also very simple and easy to learn.
This is similar to some of the things Photoshop artists have been doing.
Finally, what this guy is doing is poison, pure and simple. He's breathing in xylene, toluene, particulate matter from the paints themselves. If you don't wear a respirator when doing this it's slow and painful suicide. - point665, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Seen it in person at downtown Stockholm... Pretty nice stuff.
- SkepticJoker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Absolutely Breathtaking.
I see guys doing this all over New York City. It's impressive. - allancorbett, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I hate this *****. Hate it. There is very little creativity in it. It's all for show (which admittedly is quite cool to watch) and as art itself is pretty *****. For decent street art type things try www.woostercollective.com - it's a blog that follows graffiti and street installations from all over the world - if you think this is spam you are very wrong. I wish I was involved with Wooster...
- atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I saw a guy doing these when I visited Mexico. No matter how many times I watch them done it always amazes me. If I tried to do anything with spray paint it would probably end up a big black blob.
- fatlip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5your so write!
- badken, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yeah, sorry, internet pet peeve.
I simply fear for the loss of the perfectly good word 'than'! - 10scott10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have two paintings like this in my room. i got them in mexico
- LeoF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@berwiki
It's by System 7 - from the Power Of 7 album - zaren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@slrbenz:
Nice stock spam. - Chrissilvanet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Makred as lame cause it really is, this is NOT art, as there are about 5345892398592385823 of these "artists" strew around the world who produce the same exact crap. I'm so tired of seeing people WOWed by this stuff and then see something that actually took time and skill to create and acting as if spray "art" is better just because someone uses spraypaint insted of any of the traditional art supplies
- wulfflower, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Very cool.
It looked amazing until he started over doing it with all glowing areas with the white pain. I still like it... but the white especially on top of the pyramids screwed it up for me. - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There used to be a guy who did it right off Church St in Harvard Square. The painting I watched him do one time was almost identical to this guys. They all have near identical techniques and styles too.
Is there a school for this that I didn't know about and where do I sign up? - fatlip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah i was thinking the same thing.. kinda like when you watch bob ross and when he puts a big black streak across his painting and you cringe in your seat thinking "WHYYYY???" -- but then he goes ahead and makes everything okay
- Evic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When I was stationed in Fairbanks, AK I visited the fair where they had a woman who did these as well. $10 for a premade, $20 if you told her what you wanted. She was surprisingly good at it - sci-fi wasn't all she could do. We sat and watched her pain up a large Superman 'S' and then place superman flying in front of it. Looked great.
- Ademan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Regardless of how formulated it might seem(or rather be), the end result is pretty beautiful and quite amazing. If i was to do this i know my problem wouldn't be creating these images, but rather making sure each one is unique, because as you said the technique in itself isn't to complex, basically he uses stencils, but to make something original every time would be a challenge, considering it's basically the same steps every time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I couldn't agree with you more. If I wanted a really trashy representation of the surface of a planet with three moons, two of which have rings, and the third is orbiting a black hole, I would just print off one of NASA's "artist's renderings". Trash, trash I say!
- stiankarlsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Turned out beautiful!
- jexdawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3o·pin·ion
1. a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
Also, what is the Dugg community? Is that anything like the Digg community, from that one social-news site, digg.com? - iAndreas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Although this guy is extremely talented, the types of paintings that he does (space moonscapes, etc.) are just a little corny. I don't know about everyone else, but I wouldn't want to hang one of those up in my home.
- SierraAlpha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ICSU: I laughed so hard when you said that =P
But seriously this guy should wear a mask, and his work is really good btw. -
