- jayb1rd, on 10/25/2009, -1/+109Sneak peek=being able to look at something before it officially, completely comes out.
Sneak peak=a mountain creeping up behind you - prakashthapa, on 10/24/2009, -1/+24damn that's super thin
- dha07030, on 10/25/2009, -2/+21That cool and all but how well would it work on your lap. Seems like it would need a flat surface.
- DaviDTC, on 10/25/2009, -2/+20Just ask Apple.
- bringitontimx, on 10/25/2009, -2/+16Its Core2Duo is only 1.2-1.9Ghz and it runs GMA4500 graphics...
Okay, so it's a nettop?
No. It's ***** $2,000. - eatrains, on 10/25/2009, -0/+12Who cares how thin it is when it's so underpowered? Purely form over function.
- retral, on 10/25/2009, -1/+12I think I like the first adamo more.. especially since it probably has better specs.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/briansolis/3182351273 ...
- ChaosProfessor, on 10/25/2009, -1/+11That's what she said!
- prisoner24601, on 10/25/2009, -0/+9Great. Now I'm going to be looking over my shoulder all night.
- isunktheship, on 10/25/2009, -1/+10That's funny. because if you looked at the pictures you'll see that the only way to use the word "really" to describe this laptop is "really tiny".
http://common.ziffdavisinternet.com/util_get_image ...
"Deep", "Cheating", seriously? qq macboi - trkstr67, on 10/24/2009, -2/+11that would be really bad if have carpal tunnel, I would think...
- bmw7777, on 10/25/2009, -2/+10So it's like an Apple laptop??? Underpowered, but pretty and expensive.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/25/2009, -0/+8Isn't the term "lap top" a bit of a misnomer?
I mean, don't many of them get rather hot? Like "I wouldn't want that in my balls region" hot? http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/1/30/ - adeelarshad82, on 10/24/2009, -3/+11huh?
- FormerBabby, on 10/25/2009, -0/+7Nice and small, but ***** specs.
- isunktheship, on 10/25/2009, -0/+7it's silver.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 10/25/2009, -2/+8A misnomer? No. It's just that some laptop producers don't seem to understand what it is they're suppose to be making.
I would never buy a laptop that I couldn't use on my lap.
Then again, some people actually buy "desktop replacement" laptops. Scientists have yet to discern what drives this strange behavior, though it may be related to mild form of psychosis. - scarper86, on 10/25/2009, -0/+6eyesight fail
- NoNameWorks, on 10/25/2009, -1/+6who is in the market for a super thin laptop?
- jasmus, on 10/25/2009, -1/+6This is kind of a non-story. Just a few pics, and the thing isn't even running in any of them.
- isunktheship, on 10/25/2009, -0/+5I think he means that the carpal tunnel is bad, so you should take a different freeway.
- GelfTheElf, on 10/25/2009, -3/+8MacBook Air has better specs for less money and can run Windows 7 (bootcamp) or in Parallels.
- Kingj3144, on 10/25/2009, -0/+5also by having the computer up with the screen away from a lap it will keep cool better
- Mockylock, on 10/25/2009, -0/+4Crotch warmer.
- fmorel90, on 10/25/2009, -0/+4They're nice in winter.
- retral, on 10/25/2009, -1/+5Thinner isn't necessarily better. The design of the one I linked seems slicker/more appealing to me.
Just because the new macbook is thinner doesn't mean it's better. It actually looks kind of ugly. - palehorse864, on 10/25/2009, -1/+4Let me fill in one word in square brackets that will help you figure out the sentence.
"that would be really bad if [you] have carpal tunnel, I would think..."
He means that if you (The generic you) have carpal tunnel (A repetitive stress injury in your wrist often caused by improper mousing or typing), this would be bad. He thinks it would aggravate such a condition.
I hope this helps. I'm good at figuring out what everyone is saying, even if a single word is missing, but I understand if not everyone else can do that and hope to help out if need be. - linagee, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3Where's the battery?
- matt.rubin, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3IBM and Apple will tell you, thinness alone is not the holy grail.
- bmw7777, on 10/25/2009, -2/+5Like Apple computers. Pay more for less specs. But they are so pretty!!!
- peterjmag, on 10/25/2009, -1/+4Agreed. Bending your wrists upwards to type isn't exactly ergonomic.
- jakem1, on 10/25/2009, -0/+3Size and weight are important specs when you have to travel a lot.
- Mockylock, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2I've bought 25 E4200's in the past month for our end users because they travel so much. They don't care about the price and they don't care that it's underpowered or has a short life span.
I don't recommend themm, but people like ***** like this... and for some reason, it sells. I, myself, prefer something bulletproof and powerfull. - Kronos6948, on 10/25/2009, -2/+4if you're typing normally, you shouldn't have to bend your wrists upward. All keyboards are at an angle so that your wrists can rest normally.
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2@twitztidsinz: Well, obviously if you could use it on your lap you could use it on a desk. I just said I wouldn't buy one that HAD to be used on a desk, since that defeats much of the purpose of owning a laptop.
If you want my opinion, I prefer to use a laptop on my lap. Most desks and tables aren't at a very comfortable height for prolonged typing and I really only use it in classes and in front of the TV since I own a desktop as well.
That said, where are these laptops you've seen that must be used on one's lap and cannot be used on a desk? - appleKKK, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2good question. perhaps its not centrally located (that new polymer cell stuff)
- appleKKK, on 10/25/2009, -0/+2i always thought a laptop "thin/dumb client" would be cool.
i could snap my smartphone in and voila...i have a full screen/keyboard powered by my phone - chadian22, on 10/25/2009, -1/+3The intel graphics was the old Apple hardware, dell could have done way better.
- the8thbit, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Yeah, the one you linked to is a lot prettier than the images of the new one, but the goal here *is* thinness, not form or specs.
- pspLite, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1Why is nobody talking about the weight? This ***** thing weighs more than the last one. They made the original one a fraction of an inch thinner than the Air, but a FULL POUND heavier. Trash.
- isunktheship, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1No sense
- Mockylock, on 10/25/2009, -1/+2Solar powered.
- the8thbit, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Agreed. Having a high powered desktop PC wirelessly synced with a thin client would be awesome, especially if it could draw CPU/GPU cycles, RAM storage, and HDD storage from the Desktop through the wireless or Internet.
Hell, you could even have a completely dumb client with nothing but input devices, (keyboard, touchpad, mic, camera) output devices, (speaker, display) a battery, some USB ports, and wifi/bluetooth recievers/transmitters, which would send all input to the desktop, and pull all input from the desktop, and switch between bluetooth, wifi, and wifi with Internet on the fly.
All the power of a desktop in an incredibly thin and light laptop. - dusingaz, on 10/25/2009, -7/+8Sure its thin, but looks like they did that by making it really deep, seems the whole "computer" is in that stand that pops out. A. Cheating, B. Not sure how people are going to like the form factor.
- trkstr67, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1yeah.. Left a word out....my bad. I was in just such a hurry to relay that data I f$#$@ the whole meaning. Thank you palehorse864 for your lengthy explanation.
- DrDabbles, on 10/26/2009, -0/+1Me. My primary PC is a 13" laptop. The smaller the better for my gadgets.
- smrekar, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1wonder how it stacks up against the old toshiba portege series
- the8thbit, on 10/26/2009, -2/+3"Actually, Macs are well designed, not underpowered and not even overpriced, as this thing proves."
What, one overpriced laptop proves that Apple's machines are not overpriced? What terrible, terrible logic. With this logic, the Adamo is a ***** bargin when machines like the following exist: http://most-expensive.net/laptop-world
"The extra value Apple provides in stuff like iApps"
But you pay for those.
So basically, it's a glorified Synaptic package manager, except everything isn't free. Great.
"lack of crapware"
To my knowledge, my Dell Inspiron 1525 completely lacked any sort of shovelware when I got it, though I did almost immediately install Linux Mint and TinyXP on my machine, so I didn't spend much time in the original environment. Either way, you're spending hundred dollars for something you could do yourself in 30 minutes. (That being, install a clean copy of an operating system.)
"stickers on your machine"
Again, my laptop did not come with any. If it had, stickers are easily removed anyway, unlike a giant, glowing apple. - sideshowcoder, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1Damn thats one ugly Laptop ... and I thought the MacBook Air was kind of crappy but Dell beats it by far ...
- WestN, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1I first thought this was a good looking computer, then WTF the keyboard is on the short side and WTF, just became the ugliest computer ever
