- cease, on 11/18/2008, -1/+12I love minimalist design, and some of these are fantastic examples. However, there are a couple in the list that are pushing it, and are borderline non-minimalist in my opinion. All in all, though, a great compilation.

- nikki2300dk, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2I know what you mean. But this is web design, where there are less educated designers playing lead roles than in other areas of graphic design. I work as a web designer and minimalism is my thing.... but it can be a real challenge to keep clients from wanting to add 'little' things even after they've agreed to 'keep it simple'. Almost everyone thinks they're a web designer... or a web design expert.
One thing I noticed about some of these sites is while the design is clean, the usability is not. A very common problem is readability of text. Personally I believe usability and design go hand-in-hand, and no matter how visually appealing a site might be, if you can't read the text or locate things on the site... it's not a good web design. - bioprez, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3KISS - Keep it simple, stupid

- UKsHaDoW, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Design newbies often mistake minimalism with boring... Wrong!
I look at all the modern graphic design greats, they all keep it somewhat simple, use grids, choose a colour scheme etc. But i find a lot of pseudo "web designers", design like throwing a bunch photoshop tutorials together.
Anyone agree? - NicoNicoNico, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Some nice inspiration in that post. I'm a new designer, so I'm relieved when I see the professionals agreeing with one of my opinions. Everything must be neat and organized.
I remember trying to design a good skin for a Myspace page (don't ask). I was getting frustrated because everything I thought was simple involved a black background, which they didn't want. A friend of mine, trying to be helpful, sent me some links of other themes for inspiration. One of them was so stylized, I had to call him on the phone to laugh in his face. It was mean, but he should have known better. Every button had its own design, and text was directly onto a background image. It was disturbing. It could have been tweaked, but I wanted my own thing. The background image was nice, however, so I'll give him that. - MonkeyNews, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2There is a fine line between minimalist designs and pretence

Agreed, very inspiring nonetheless

Don't worry about photos, just make sure they fit. Cool or warm colors etc. - MonkeyNews, on 11/18/2008, -3/+2Somewhat - but at the same time there are too many pseudo "web design experts" about.
- annjay, on 11/18/2008, -3/+1Wonderful collection.
- MrSurly, on 11/18/2008, -3/+0Oh, you mean graphic design. Title kinda vague there.

6. A minimal number of colors
10. Use of vibrant, colorful images
