- asteron, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41Anyone else think this is a pretty crappy collection? All of the screenshots were of the setup program (who cares what that looks like). There were only 1 or 2 of the actual program and the user wasnt even doing anything in them.
Not even a document open. This gallery was probably taken by someone with no clue what to do with PS. At least show off new filters/dialogs/adjustment layers... - Eazy~e, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31I don't think so, they look photoshopped.
- Scottish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Apple doesn't follow their own HIGs anymore.

'Nuff said. - xtis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The new interface is sexy, but causes a ***** of redraw problems on my XP box. And on top of that it says that hardware acceleration is not available on this platform. Surely that's something they'll fix by the time it ships, so I can live with it. It's a very good preview, recommended for all of you that are curious.
Given the mind-bending amount of thought and effort they've put into Photoshop and the Creative Suite as a whole, it's just amazing that they can still push the boundaries.
Adobe FTW! - ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Thanks t1t0!!... Digg is sluggish today, or is it just me? I keep getting time out errors and then having to refresh the page.
- gregorypierce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Become a student...
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I like how there's more pictures of the install/activation process than the actual new program... but at any rate, it's looking good so far. I can't wait, especially for hardware acceleration!

- And0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good, I was getting tired of the CS2 interface using less than %100 of my CPU and memory.
- spoops, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Man Adobe Bridge is whack. Has anyone here ever actually used it?
- ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Where's the d/l? I can't find it anywhere on Adobe Labs or Adobe.com...
- markmcleod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I had the serial problem too, and I also have a legit, no quotes, copy. Make - sure - to - enter - the - hyphens. Photoshop and Bridge blazing fast on my dual 2.0ghz iMac, especially with raw files
- Kajico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm using the CS3 one right now. It seems more stable than CS2, faster and more importantly the thumbnail scale view scales the thumbnails to be about the same size. I hated having like a 3X3 image not scaling large enough to see because I had a 12X12 in the same folder.
- evilspoons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, it's a great tool if you're working with RAW camera files.

I dugg you up, because I hope that was a joke (or at least, I give people the benefit of the doubt and I'm going to take it that way.) - cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Added a capture of that. Thanks for mentioning it. I hadn't bothered to check for that.
- KillerX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's Command and "About Photoshop" for the Mac version
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"So, I'll check the auctions and the ratings and read VERY carefully"
Yes please do, almost all copies of Photoshop on eBay are pirated. The big tip-off is when they say they don't come with a box or paper manual. Also when they say you register it through their website or something, which is most likely just a list of serial numbers found on the web. I found a cheap copy on there once and it was so cheap I thought I'd bid on two. The guy emails me asking why I bid on two because "I'll just burn you two copies, you don't have to pay twice". Like pirating it was the most normal thing in the world. - threepio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The new interface doesn't follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines on the Apple side, along with no enhancements for CoreImage or a tonne of other features that go hand in hand with compiling in Xcode.
It's a great program, it really is, but the execution - a year late on the Universal binary along with not taking advantage of some of the great things that come with it when they did makes me disappointed in this effort from Adobe. - cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sorry aboot that. There's not a whole lot to show within the app that would be different from pic to pic (or that would be tremendously different from CS2)....
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I doubt you'll get anything cheaper than asking price, unless you find some sort of slae going on at your local computer-type store. Best bet: save up, and buy it from the man himself.
- cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ask and ye shall receive. Updated to include additional in-use shots.
- dadrew1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You don't have to enter the hyphens to get it working right. I got mine registered and everything without them!
- Kajico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been trying to find all the new goody tools, thus far i've only seen the quick select, clone source menu and layer comps. I'm loving the default layout though, it's clean and easily accesable. The open as smart object feature comes in handy, don't have to have illustrator open to copy and paste your smart object. The ability to apply filters to smart objects is also is a big plus.
- aa90digg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd like to know why there has to be so many picture of the instalation panes and only 1 of the actual interface?
(waste of time) - rglover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just finished installing on my Windows machine and I have to say my favorite feature so far is the compressed tool box. I can name the number of time I wish I could have done that in the past. Very cool, can't wait to see how the final turns out.
- 81v3d07g0d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am using it as we speak, I don't see much difference besides the looks and few minor things but it seems to run pretty fast and I like the new tool bar. I wish I had a serial, but well at least I can use it.
- Asvetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@cdharrison: Sweet thanks for the mention
@KillerX: It's been a little too long, I forgot what the MAC equivalent of Control was. Thanks! - srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can anyone suggest where would be the cheapest LEGAL way to buy Photoshop?
Thanks - intekra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't see the d/l either... hmm :(
- mikedoth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can anyone give me a really good reason to upgrade from 7?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd rather just install it than look at those photos... meh :(
- cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Smart Objects. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/pop_smart.html
- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What? I had a huge install process for CS2 as well on OS X 10.4.
- ndrw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I installed on a mac pro at work and ran radial blur on some large images (I'm sure there are better high-cpu filters to test but not really a photoshop guy). SCREAMING fast. I ran the same filter on both a quad mac pro and a dual g5 and a lot of times the mac pro would finish the job before the progress bar even showed up on the powerpc! this bodes well for professional apple fans.
- cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could probably get a used copy of an older version off of eBay, maybe. And they pay to get an upgrade version of Photoshop... but I dunno how "legal" that is.
- ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Extensis? Yikes. iView or PhotoMechanic for databsing/sifting through a ton of photos.
- srodolff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pricegrabber has it for $405.
Ebay has several at buy it now at $299. And I'm just looking at CS2.
So, I'll check the auctions and the ratings and read VERY carefully.
Thanks. - jflint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2CS3 Forum is now open on the Adobe Labs Site.

- cdharrison, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You know, I noticed those redraw issues myself and didn't think much of it.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
PhotoMechanic
Vastly overrated. - loneatom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have a legit copy of cs2 but adobe won't give me a cs3 serial# - i've tried with and without hyphens - anybody else?
- JackAxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I upgraded for 2 reasons;
Under OS X, CS 2 can and does take advantage of all available ram if needed. So it will go beyond the 3 gigs by using OS X's caching system.
It also has keyboard shorcuts for creating new folders and so on in the layer pallete. It works like a finder window, so you can command+click to select specific layers now as an example.
There are lots of other little things that make it great. - drzeus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"a year late on the Universal binary"
CS2 came out before universal binary. There's nothing late here. - bruceheavin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just posted a series of free movies of PS CS3 by Deke at lynda.com. Hopefully a bit more informative than that of the screenshots. Enjoy :)
http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=327&cid=CS3BLOGG - bmson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The new look is really good.
It's really similar to Os X version.
The only different is that part of it, is transparent and it fade out when you press the desktop. -
