- NoOneButMe, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It has been running for over 2 years and has just got into the Technorati top 10 000 (not much I know but still it jumps up about 5-10,000 places per week).
You'll be the numer one blog in a week?
Good luck with your situation though - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There's more to life than Internet . . .
- citsym, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"It gets between 500-1000 unique hits on average per day."
Good shared hosting should be enough to tackle that. Dont provide downloads etc from your server. There are free file hosting services for that.
A cheap shared host is www.asmallorange.com
I have heard that they can even withstand the digg effect - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Thanks to all those who have dugg this post so far, it's great to see the support. I'm not sure if this appeal is going to get anywhere at this stage but I'll just be patient and see what happens.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Totally understand your predicament, have been there myself. Welcome to the wonderful world of web traffic! It's going to be the bane of your life, trust me..
- crapatastic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Not sure how much bandwidth your using, but I host a bunch of client accounts at site5 for 5 bucks a month, and they offer 5tb of transfer, 110 GB of storage, and 110 domains. I feel like a shill for posting that, but it's the truth. If anyone thinks 1.) that amount of bandwidth a month is not enough or 2.) the idea stinks, digg me down or let me know!
Heck I'd donate 5 bucks just to pay for one month.
-S - crapatastic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1After further poking around, for anyone else curious, that's 166 GB a day, and they claim to be on a Tier 1 connection, at 20 GB/s. They offer ssh access too, so have a "Connect to Server" link on my desktop to access the folder via ssh/scp.
Good Luck Andrew. - skits2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0If you are using Wordpress, and it looks like you are, then there are two easy things you can do to help with Digg hits
The first is install the Wp-Cache wordpress plugin - http://mnm.uib.es/gallir/wp-cache-2/ Basically, if you aren't using WP-Cache then don't come talk to us about your Blog going over bandwidth. It should reduce your server load by an order of magnitude or more
Second plugin is Digg Defender - http://elliottback.com/wp/archives/2006/04/21/digg-defender-a-plugin-for-wordpress/ designed to shunt traffic over to an online cache system whenever your blog bandwidth is in distress.
Finally, since it looks like you are missing some other helpful plugins like Related posts and Wp-Notable here's a list of several of the best wordpress plugins that you should consider installing
