What a disappointment. - Adam420, on 06/23/2009, -2/+40Cedar Point = Best Place On Earth

- firefox15, on 06/23/2009, -2/+20I live in Ohio. Cedar Point is all we have going for us.
- jdames1980, on 06/23/2009, -1/+19Cedar Point is the best, just went on Saturday. They have so many rides now that the lines are generally very short. It's awesome!
- Adam420, on 06/23/2009, -1/+18Six Flags doesn't even come close, you have obviously never been to Cedar Point...
- Blinker1315, on 06/23/2009, -4/+16Love the pics, but there's no way I'll go on a roller coaster these days. Several years ago, at Coney Island, one of my sons and I went on one, and the cracked-out operator made the thing speed up, go backwards, all of which made for a harrowing ride. And it's not as if Coney's had a recent facelift.
- bigmahlman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+11Cedar point is the greatest place on earth.
- LordStryker, on 06/23/2009, -0/+10The Top-Thrill Dragster will shrink your balls. Its amazing.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -0/+9I just took last week off and road tripped from MA to Ohio to go to Cedar Point. As amazing as the Top Thrill was I think it is only my 4th favorite ride there, the place is incredible. Maverick, Magnum, and Millennium Force are my top 3.
- TheHerk, on 06/23/2009, -0/+9Well, if it is any consolation, most newer coaster do not afford the operator any sort of operation controls aside from clear signals during normal operation. You can say "go" and that's about it. The computer verifies that there are not to many trains in any brake section.
Of course this doesn't mean bad things don't happen. - bigmahlman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+8Fact Best Amusement Park - Cedar Point for the last 11 years.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Ticket_Award - the authority on roller coasters. - Fikiman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7Finally... *Barf!*
- andrewlotta, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7I am not one to quote Wikipedia but...:
"It is now up and running as of May 31, 2009." - LordStryker, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7Does anyone else remember the Geauga Lake of the golden olden days?
- bigmahlman, on 06/23/2009, -1/+8Actually you can get tickets for about 30 bucks if you know what you are doing. 10 bucks for parking isnt that bad. Have a nice picknick area right outside the park. Plenty of hotels in the Sndusky area that are much cheeper. It wins best amusment park every year, 13 years strait I believe.
It is not the most expensive theme/thrill park in US, and is by far the best value. - MarkBrent, on 06/23/2009, -0/+7I am more AAAAAAAAH
- lsocoee, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6My wife's driving makes me sicker than that first roller coaster ever could.
- MacParrot, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6Haven't been there since I lived in Ohio, but Ceder Point is a definate future stop for my coaster loving younger son (my older son won't go near them) and me. His first was the Two-Face coaster at Six Flags America and he also did Superman Ride of Steel.
- rbarnes, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6What about King's Island? For my money, The Beast is still the best coaster on Earth.
- bytor4232fb, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6I haven't been there in a decade. Easily worth the four hour drive from where I live in Michigan.
Once the youngest gets a little older, I plan on taking the family. Right now she's two, so not much point in going! - heathuff23, on 06/23/2009, -1/+7"Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ) is EASILY the best."
"Ride Kingda Ka (tallest, fastest coaster on planet) and Nitro then tell me differently."
One coaster does not make good park. Im not going to pack up my family and take them to a park with one good rollercoaster.
Cedar Point has SEVERAL good roller coasters, and I would rather ride the raptor any day of the week over Kingda Ka (and yes I have ridden it before).
I would much rather pack up my family and take them to a park that has alot more to offer than Six Flags.
Based on your statement I am willing to guess you have never been to Cedar Point.
I dugg your comment up just so I could bury you twice - athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -0/+6King's Island was actually bought out by the Cedar Point company and is starting to get it's ***** together when it comes to badass coasters.
- bigmahlman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6I'm from Toledo, now I live in Cincinnati. Cedar point is far better, but the beast is one hell of a ride. Cedar fair now owning Kings Island should help out the park alot (how else would you get two new* roller coasters in 3 years)
*FireHawk actualy came from geauga lake (another ohio park)
And they are about the same price, so if your are coming from the south up 71 take the extra 3 hours and go to the point. - dlm85, on 06/23/2009, -0/+6I remember when they built the Corkscrew many years ago. It seemed so intense a long time ago. Compared to the other coaster it is tame. Mean Streak is one of the most physical coasters I have ever been on. I was sore for a couple of weeks after riding that.
- MacParrot, on 06/23/2009, -0/+5I love coasters, but my size is becoming a factor in which ones I can ride. At 6'6" and about 290 pounds, many of the newer restraint systems have made it nearly impossible for me to fit.
Time to go on a diet - ShiftyBizniss, on 06/23/2009, -1/+6The Top Thrill Dragster is crazy intense. It's almost too much for my aging, post-college body to handle. The rate of acceleration hurts my brain.
- inkubusfan, on 06/23/2009, -1/+6I suppose now you're going to find an article about the movies and complain about the candy/popcorn/soda prices? Theme parks are expensive. Not exactly news.
- jakeny, on 06/23/2009, -0/+5Kingda Ka is going to be out of commission for most if not all of this season! They have a major repair they need to do on the ride that's going to cost a huge amount of cash!
Nitro and El Toro are now the 2 best coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure!
Update: Based on andrewlotta's response, I stand to be corrected. So here is my correction:
Kingda Ka, El Toro, and Nitro are the 3 best coasters at Six Flags Great Adventure! - bigmahlman, on 06/23/2009, -0/+5The park might be gone but Cedar Fair moved a bunch of the rides to other parks.
- soggydave2113, on 06/23/2009, -0/+44 hour drive?
It's easily worth the 15 hour drive when I went 2 summers ago. - indyhouse, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Cedar Point is all you need.
- outlaw24, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Cedar Point = Greatest Place on Earth....for sure.
17 coasters to start with. Does that even compute with your typical Six Flags customer? I don't think so.
Why is Six Flags going bankrupt? Probably because they have more junk toy stores then rides in their parks.
The Top Thrill Dragster is better then the Kingda Ka because (a) it was the original (both built by same company) and (b) they just tacked on 30 feet and a hill at the end for the Kingda Ka...but also added over-the-shoulder harnesses which make it not near as scary as the TTD.
Cedar Point is a magical place of rides surrounded on 3 sides by water. Beautiful location.
Go there. Fall in love. And get chills every time you remember.
Best time to go? Hallow-Weekends. Noon to Midnight. Get on the last ride by 11:55 and you're at the park till almost 2am. - tokyomachina, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4do i ever, used to be a great place. there are some neat pics of it closed down. actually, not many pics, but theyre neat at least.
http://illicitohio.illicitohio.com/geaugalake.html - Dustmuffins, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4The millennium force is still awesome even though it's not the biggest and baddest around.
- athinnes, on 10/01/2009, -0/+4For roller coasters, yes, Cedar Point is far better. But Kings Island is on the rise and they have one of the best kiddie areas of any amusement park in the country. Oh, and the water park admission comes with the ticket to the regular park.
- LordStryker, on 06/23/2009, -0/+4Thank you for that. Brings back memories of my childhood days. Sad to see it crumble.
- asgardshill, on 06/23/2009, -1/+4Gah - this is the second article in the past 5 minutes that interested me but was a slideshow.
- PotOfJam, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3Nice list! But what about the UK’s coasters? Ok so the not the same size but what they lack in size they make up in technology and themes. Stealth (UK version of Top Thrill Dragster) does 0-80 in 1.8 seconds offering a quicker acceleration then American models. Colossus (from the same park) has 10 inversions making it the worlds only. Or Oblivion at Alton Towers was the worlds first vertical drop coaster. So next time a list of pictures relating to Roller coasters are listed, don’t forget there are other country’s outside of the US. ;)
- Number23, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3Gots much love for Cedar Point.
- inactive, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3HI BILLY MAYS HERE WITH OUR NEW ROLLER COASTER PICTURES
- jshhmr, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Agreed. As a former ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts) member, Cedar Point is the BEST amusement park in America. Millennium Force is one of my all time favorites!
- imnotminkus, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2Cedar Point tickets are about the same price as other similar parks' (not to mention having more/better coasters), and as mentioned above, there are discounts all over the place if you know where to look. You get a discount if you stay at their hotels, and you can get $7 off coupons from Pepsi cans, AAA, drug mart, marc's, other random stores/restaurants in the area.
In other news: food at parks is expensive. That's nothing new. You can bring your own food; there's plenty of room in the picnic area. They don't allow huge coolers in the park, but you could probably get away with small things. If you want to get real food that's not overpriced, they let you leave the parking lot and return once, and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. - secrity, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2There were advertisements?
- jermm, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2rcdb.com
(almost) everything you ever need to know about rollercoasters. - heathuff23, on 06/23/2009, -1/+3You like the Maverick over Raptor?!?!?.....I agree with the rest though :)
- Gizza, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1If you can get a hotel that's $100/night cheaper, then paying the $10 for parking each day doesn't seem like much of a problem to me.
- secrity, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1My torso is too long/tall to fit in the horse collar restraints -- they compress my spine.
- Disc2day, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1ughhh...i love roller coasters! i haven't been in a while. 6 Flags California is always fun, but my favorite is Cedar Point. Millennium Force is a beast! :-)
- secrity, on 06/23/2009, -0/+1Best done wearing a white t-shirt after eating chocolate soft-serve.
