- evil-doer, on 11/10/2009, -1/+28so let me get this straight. a parent needs to be folding and pressing down on the stroller while the kids arm is inside of it for this to happen? sounds like irresponsible parenting again. come on, its a folding metal structure, anyone with two braincells to rub together knows you could at very least get pinched in that situation, why are you doing that with your child anywhere near it?
- alex7575, on 11/10/2009, -0/+26I'm a parent and I have 2 of their strollers, I can see how that COULD happen, but I can't really see how fingers are being cut off, unless you're a grossly negligent person, which should prevent you from being a parent to begin with.
- LarkStew, on 11/10/2009, -0/+14When I was a kid I got my fingers caught in a deckchair when it collapsed, somebody else had to get me out because I couldn't stand up, I was sitting on my own trapped fingers and it was PAINFUL.
- Solkre, on 11/10/2009, -2/+13Fox News Alert! <woosh noise>
Are Democratically controlled strollers cutting off your baby's fingers!? - GeekNurse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9FTA: "The amputations happened when children placed their finger in the hinge while the pushchair, or stroller, was being unfolded."
We should recall kitchen knives as well since amputations can happen when children place their fingers between the knife and the cutting board while mommy is slicing vegetables. - coreyb, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9Back in the 70's it was a feature.
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9Although I had never heard the term before, pushchair makes more sense than "Stroller". Stroller doesn't tell you anything about what it is, pushchair tells you exactly what it is.
- thinboyslim, on 11/10/2009, -0/+9How did you type that story?
- TheDominus, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7Did the company sharpen the hinges before they shipped the stroller out? I've gotten my hand caught in a metal hinge before. It hurt like crap, but I still have all my fingers.
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 11/10/2009, -0/+7It's a shame the company is suffering bad press and lowered consumer and shareholder confidence because of this. There are a million things around everyone's homes that can injure a child if they go sticking their hands places they don't belong. There is nothing wrong with that stroller.
- Nestersan, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6Notice the lack of FUD that is spread by the reporters? They in fact wonder since the device requires multiple stages to fold, how a child could get fingers stuck in it. Notice them telling viewers not to panic ?
I wonder how a US news channel would have reported it. - thinboyslim, on 11/10/2009, -0/+6Pram has a child facing the person pushing it, pushchair has the child facing the direction they're being pushed in.
- bram, on 11/10/2009, -1/+6When I was a kid ALL strollers were capable of chopping off your fingers. Kids these days are pussies!
- chuckDontSurf, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5Oh I agree, 'pushchair' is much more straightforward. I just find some of the language differences between the two cultures amusing. I hadn't heard 'pushchair' before either.
Lighten up people, we both have plenty of reasons to poke fun at each other. - BigJon80, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5Who needs fingertips anyway... They should know by now to not make hinges out of razors.
- zip000, on 11/10/2009, -0/+5We should recall all doors - no bedroom doors, no bathroom doors, no cabinet doors...
Pretty much anything with a hinge can cut off little finger tips probably.
I suppose we think products for children should be held to a higher standard though. - spoulson, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Amputation is a medical procedure to remove a limb. Dismemberment is the removal of limb outside of a medical procedure.
Sounds like media fixing to me. I have one of these stroller/buggy/pushchairs and there's no sharp hinges in easy reach to the child riding. I think the unfortunate parents with dismembered children just need to be less crappy parents. - stotty, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4To stroll is to "walk leisurely and with no apparent aim", not exactly befitting of a piece of apparatus that does not walk. And what is this nonsense implication that to be human we'd have to call them strollers? Did you think that cats and dogs came up with the words pram and pushchair?
- naner, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Good story.
- ThatsNotPoetry, on 11/10/2009, -0/+3Baby fingers, Dominus. Baby fingers.
- HanSolo69, on 11/10/2009, -1/+4What the Chinese should do is stop producing strollers and torture devices in the same factory.
- heavyd14, on 11/10/2009, -1/+3It seems like gross negligence is what led to parenthood for some people.
- chuckDontSurf, on 11/10/2009, -7/+9'Pushchair'....lol, those crazy Brits. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go put my son in his walled bed.
- angrytortilla, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2They exist, I can guarantee that. This is a pretty bad world.
- Floobins, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2Pram is also used.
- shoyurx, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2I bought my MacLaren so I could win the local stroller races. It has more horsepower and blows away the competition.
- taibo, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2Protects children from getting germs on their fingers
- tweek913, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2thanks for the tip.
- GeekNurse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+2The bones in young children's fingers are more malleable than adults.
- ghouze, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1They want to retro-fit and install heavy nylon velcro-diapers on the elbow joints --
Throw a stick and when the kids go to chase it, close the damn thing -- just keep the brats away and skip the recall - GeekNurse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1You have 2?!? I had to take out a second mortgage to buy the one I have.
- GeekNurse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Wud he say? WUD HE SAY?

"It's A Potential Death Trap" - sleestakslayer, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Any sort of device used to transport babies is recalled sooner or later.
- alex7575, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Really? I got both of them from Amazon and they were $50 and $70. Are we talking about the same strollers?
- GeekNurse, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Oh sorry. I forgot the /s
- FormerBabby, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Thats just gross.
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1You're right. I just did it for the pun of it.
- BoneStamp, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1@GeekNurse
It got buried within a few minutes so I deleted it. But since FormerBabby commented on it then it's taking up space anyway, so here it is:

Anyhow, the ironic part is that MacLaren is _not_ the cheap brand of strollers - they're a higher-end company, selling simple umbrella strollers for the price you'll get a full-featured all-singing-all-dancing pile of foldable plastic from other companies. People buying this stroller were expecting a high-quality machine, not a finger-guillotine. - shoyurx, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1Elitists don't care about babies.
- martalli, on 11/11/2009, -0/+1With his toes. Amazing what you can learn to do as a child.

http://digg.com/celebrity/Miss_World_finalist_has_ ... - Xibby, on 11/10/2009, -1/+1Being a grossly negligent person might have something to do with them getting pregnant in the first place.
- LiquidShield, on 11/10/2009, -1/+1Yeah well people now-a-days are too sue happy. I mean common what about the two parents out in California who are suing a dog door company because the warning label didn't have "Child my get out of through this door". All because their 2 year old or 4 year old got out side through that door, and was play around the pool. Personally they should have known better or at least kept a watchful eye on their child, but then gain thats really to hard to ask todays populace.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1I think that people who have no idea what they're doing in the world did. Pram doesn't make any logical sense. Pushchair is a ***** name. Use some logic and common sense when you make up names for things.
- X3N3TIX, on 11/11/2009, -0/+0It's a chair that you push, sound logical lol
- Nackaroo, on 11/11/2009, -1/+1My friend put his finger in one of those old style exercise bikes when he was a kid... didn't end pretty. He could do some pretty neat tricks with that stump though, looked like he could it it pretty deep into his nose.
- gizzymo, on 11/10/2009, -7/+5Want to know whats crazy, they are not recalling the *same* pushchairs here in Ireland - SICK.
- lolwatermelon, on 11/10/2009, -4/+2Or, you could be humans and call them 'strollers.'
