I put more layers in my versions though.

Here is the one i made via this guide, was first attempt, done a few more since that are drasticly better.. This one only had the one layer for land texture.

The only thing I had trouble with was when he's saying "Apply these effects settings..." and you see a collection of 6 tiny little pictures where you can barely make out the details. Thankfully, after squinting, I think I got it right. There was also another point where I got a bit confused and had to back-track a little bit (around that same section, actually), but it wasn't too bad.
My planet ended up looking not quite as detailed as the guy's, and I'm a bit unhappy with how the shadow on the planet ended up (compared to his), but here it is:

If I can follow this tutorial and make this planet in about an hour, so can anyone. I'm far from being a Photoshop buff. Poorly written, but as I said, the whole process isn't impressive. Basically what you're doing is taking tin-foil, wrapping it into a ball and calling it gold.
