- deiphobus, on 10/12/2007, -14/+359Actually, he initially wanted to be a painter. That's something a lot of people don't know. During his late teens, he was rejected by all the Art Schools he applied to. I guess that's one of the reasons why he became insane (and powerful).
Could you imagine what would've happened if one of the Art Schools accepted him? Interesting. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+271This is why art schools now accept pretty much anybody, just in case.
- SkepticJoker, on 10/12/2007, -9/+195OOOOOH!
I'm glad you clarified that it was the Adolf Hitler from WW2.
I wasn't quite sure. - GiggleStick, on 10/12/2007, -7/+140"...he was rejected by all the Art Schools he applied to."
Was it the turtle? I could never get that right on my applications either. - rendereduseless, on 10/12/2007, -5/+103its called history
- rAid135, on 10/12/2007, -3/+93Blame the holocaust on the Vienna School of Art Board of Admissions?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -43/+133"I guess that's one of the reasons why he became insane (and powerful)"
How do you know he was insane? - 10scott10, on 10/12/2007, -10/+95damn if only he had gotten into that art school. we might have been able to have avoided WWII.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87@kingkilr: except for the ones of other people..
- bioknight, on 10/12/2007, -17/+89@drathosx3
Starting genocide of the Jewish culture really isn't something sane people do in their spare time. - lostboy, on 10/12/2007, -9/+73You may be modded down, but you make a pertinent point. He was an extremely successful dictator. Not necessarily someone I would invite over for drinks, but he was good at the ol' genocide thing. I guess if I did ever have to invite Hitler over for a dinner party or something I would probably spike his drink, shave off his moustache and wrap him naked to a lampost, with cling film.
OK, my comment meandered off somewhere.... I think when I started it. - deadbaby, on 10/12/2007, -28/+90Not bad at all but I still think he was a better dictator than artist.
- goblindegook, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57@ksudesigner: "He also designed the original Volkswagen Beetle."
Hitler commissioned it. The car itself was designed by Erwin Komenda and Ferdinand Porsche. - catfive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+56HITLER! Now THERE was a painter! He could paint an entire apartment in one afternoon--two coats!
- maxman137, on 10/12/2007, -8/+54He actually wanted to be an architect. He just didn't have the education needed, so he made a living doing crap landscape postcards.
- jayfarer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46And all this time, I thought it was the Adolf Hitler from Season 2 of American Idol.
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46You should see the film 'Max'. It is a fictitious account of Hitler as a struggling artist trying to decide between a life of art or a career in politics.
- dimplemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47Thanks for adding the (WW2) reference after Hitler's name. I thought you were talking about the Adolph Hitler of Hitler Tire and Battery in Northern Springfield, Illinois. Fourth tire free after you purchase three.
- Hurshai, on 10/12/2007, -6/+42The most distrurbing thing about this is Hitlers era is referenced in the description...
"Adolf Hitler (WW2)."
You have to be kidding me. - RonAcierno, on 02/07/2008, -8/+38What does his political views and morals have to do with his artistic abilities....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36You know, I can't quite tell if drathosx3 is being serious.
- SonofMaug, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31Might be a bit difficult for o'l Bob to take over the world seeing as he has been DEAD for 12 years. Read your research dumbass. If you're going to make a joke about an artist taking over the world, at least pick a LIVING one.
- Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -7/+33"On a totally unrelated note - are there any Jewish painters?
Don't they usually go doctor, accountant jobs?"
I'll just ignore the blatant stereotyping in your comment and try to educate you a bit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Jewish_painters
Most notable on that list I think is Marc Chagall - rnwen2750, on 10/12/2007, -20/+46Oh yes, comparing a former vice-president who has spurred an entire sector of the US into action to reduce their impact as a nation (which is necessary, seeing as places like NY have to SHIP their garbage to VA because they make too much) to a megalomaniac who slaughtered millions of people in a bid to purge the world of those he deemed unworthing makes SOOO much sense. Thank you for educating us.
- AlphAssassin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I'm glad you are the ninth person to point that out.
- Nar1117, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Does doing what you think is right and just automatically make you insane?
Hitler had his own ideas about how the world should be run, and however radical and "evil" they were, I dont think we can call him "insane."
Yes, his ideas about the Aryan race were incredibly in conflict with everything everyone else thought (or thinks), but he was just doing what he thought was right. Terrible and disgusting, yes. - mtrip, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22Nobody deserves that kind of accusation without some evidence, so...
From Wikipedia:
Knighthood and false accusation
In early 1998 Clarke was scheduled to be made a knight, with Prince Charles visiting Sri Lanka in order to make the investiture. Just before the ceremony, a London tabloid, The Sunday Mirror, claimed in a sensationalist story that Clarke was an avowed paedophile, giving supposed quotes from Clarke about the harmlessness of his predilection for boys. Clarke released a statement saying that "the accusations are such nonsense that I have found it difficult to treat them with the contempt that they deserve." He also said, "I categorically state that The Sunday Mirror's article is grossly defamatory and contains statements which in themselves and by innuendo are quite false, grossly inaccurate and extremely harmful." He later asked that the investiture of his knighthood be delayed "in order to avoid embarrassment to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales during his visit to Sri Lanka." In answer to the newspaper's allegations, Clarke was investigated by Sri Lankan authorities, with the accusations eventually being dismissed. The newspaper later printed a retraction and Clarke was made a Knight Bachelor on May 26, 2000, in a ceremony in Colombo, Sri Lanka. - bullox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Was gonna say the same thing. Like "Okay, just wanted to make sure you didn't mean Adolf Hitler from down the street. Thanks for mentioning that."
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25Do you?
- Hiki, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21His german shepherd portraits need more work.
- NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -16/+32"Millions of Jews? Don't be silly! It was more like 3 or 4 Jews. And to be perfectly honest, they were enemies of the state."
I hope you are ***** joking.
Wait, no. You'd still have to be a jackass to joke about that. - KSUdesigner, on 10/12/2007, -19/+35He also designed the original Volkswagen Beetle. The man was quite smart and talented. Shame he had to go and kill everybody.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18.......and then lose your sweet impregnating smart chicks job just because you can't spell the word Paid.
How ***** sad.... - fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Anyone else see the comment at the bottom of that post? I think that guy is serious, which is creepy.
- AshPligg, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27What a bastard! And he was a vegetarian, and a painter, so he must have been going, "I can't get the ***** trees… Damn! I will kill everyone in the world!"
- randyzaia, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18"How do you know he was insane?"
This is a good point, and one that many people get wrong. Hitler was not necessarily insane; he was evil. - Morphinity, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23Yeah, with blood though.
- majikstreet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I'm glad that there are some sane people here... Many people don't realize that Hitler was actually very smart. He was brought up to hate Jews. In addition, it isn't as widely known that he didn't only kill Jews; he also killed catholics, handicapped people, and homosexuals. I also find it funny that a lot of people think he was German.... (He was Austrian -- there is a difference)
If Hitler was brought up better, maybe he could have done some good for the world.. He had the brainpower. It takes a lot of command as much as he did....
Oh yeah.. If I lived in say Poland during WWII, I would have died.. (I am of Jewish heritage and gay) - inspecality, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15There is a google ad in the top right that says "Oh No - I'm Emo"
How fitting. - LonesomeFighter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17@randyzaia
He was only "evil" because he lost. If he had won, he would of been a God to his people. History has a thing for being written to favor the winner(s) and make the winner(s) look good. - KyotoWolf, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15If WW2 never happened you could say we would be in a much worse state than we are in now... Then again it could be better.
America probably wouldnt be the power it is today though... - Koopa, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16Hitler painted-->Hitler committed genocide
Al Gore paints-->?
Yeah, I think that's some sort of logical fallacy... - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14He was a dog lover actually.
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16The next hitler will be a C programmer.
"I'll show you an invalid pointer address! In your face! With guns! And everyone who looks like you! Then everyone will know that I am the world's greatest haxor!" - ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12jftitan, i'm sorry, but i had to dig you down because you have a myspace.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13I totally need to grab one of these paintings at high rez, hang it on my wall, and when people ask whose it was, casually tell them.
'twould be priceless. (Note: I don't support Hitler's actions as dictator. Hell, I'm Jewish.)
On a side note, was that one of the dogs the German military had to kill to complete training? - ricree, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Obligitory xkcd reference.
http://xkcd.com/c29.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16no, completely ordinary, with nothing to distinguish them. looks like ***** from a department store, made by chinese factories
- crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Chandler: Joe... Joe... Joe... Stalin?
Joey: Stalin! Stalin. Do I know that name? It sounds familiar.
Chandler: Well, it does not ring a bell with me!
Joey: Joe Stalin. You know, that's pretty good!
Chandler: Hey, you know, you might wanna try "Joseph."
Joey: Joseph Stalin. I think you'd remember that! - dicknawson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9"He also designed the original Volkswagen Beetle."
Sorry pal. It was Ferdinand Porsche who designed the Beetle, or the VW Käfer as it was known. Hitler did, however, ask Porsche to design the Beetle to make it "more suited to the working man". He played a big part in starting the VW company but he was no designer. -
