Picsearch doesn't only search for "Free" images. It does a normal web search. - baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2don't get me wrong, i think everystockphoto.com is pretty good, i just like to offer choices if i know of them...
- h00paj00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8http://www.c6.org/toogle/index.php?phrase=Iraq
Your search - Iraq - did not match any documents.
No images were found containing "Iraq". - Sargasso_C, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Finding an image does not make it open source, creative commons licensed, or free. Like buying a book does not mean that you own the work of art, only that you have a license to read it in your home. Never believe a photo search engine has the discretionary ability to decide whether an image is open.
- killercow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@sargasso,
the creative commons has a special search engine friendly framework which people showing CC work can use to tell search engines which works are CC and how they are CC.
A creative commons search engine relying on that framework has legal rights to redistribute all found CC work under the rules of the original owner. - jhuebel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@h00paj00: There were tons of them on picsearch. c6.org sucks, apparently.
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.YotoPhoto.com is similar, searches CC/Flicker CC/Morguefile and sxc.hu

- rarkai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11I wouldn't use that as a free image finder, I would assume most people on there wouldn't want you using their stuff for your work.
- ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Actually, looking at the search results on this site, it seems like it includes flickr photos in it's database

Flickr has a way for account holders to designate their pictures specifically for use under the creative commons license:
http://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/ - baalzebub, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2what i don't like about flickr is it does not have any high resolution photos of good enough quality to make desktop wallpapers with...
- theOster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i've also had several requests from people to use my flickr phots. (of course, i dont know how many *didn't* ask...)
i like to think people are good people. :) - Paladin27, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Actually, Flickr has a built in method of doing an advanced search for just Creative Common's photos. Go to: http://www.flickr.com/search/advanced/ and then select "Only search within Creative Commons-licensed photos" you can then even further filter for "Find content to use commercially" and/or "Find content to modify, adapt, or build upon".

is another great site. You do need to log in to view the large version of the picture but bugmenot has lots of acounts :) - TFGeditor, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Crappy site. All kinds of mysql errors, as another posted noted. Dugg down.

Another great resource.- MauroCol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its not free
- linuxinit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think you mean, http://www.sxc.hu/, their sister-site.
I personally prefer to just take any photos needed myself. - msumsion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I didn't say anything about it being free. It's a great resource. Very inexpensive.
- h00paj00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I love the old "one or two letters plus a bunch of numbers" google image search. It's random and fun.
- samykovac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2How about this one? http://www.istockphoto.com
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1istockphoto is pretty good, I use them all the time. Most of their pictures start at 1 credit and go up from there to 12 credits on average. Breaks down to a few bucks per picture depending on the resolution you need. What's nice is if I don't need a high resolution image because it's only being used on the web, then I don't have to pay for the high-res version. 800x600 resolution images are usually no more than 3 credits ~ $5
- RaulMontana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Are they all from sxc.hu?
- akak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Nice idea, too bad the search engine sucks
- lensman00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd really like to be able to search vintage stock photos using a date. I haven't found an engine for that, yet.
- androodotnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i've heard this guy straight up ripped off the code from http://yotophoto.com and he steals/spiders CC photographers' sites and doesn't properly attribute their work.
Go straight to http://openphoto.net , http://yotophoto.com or http://morguefile.com for photos. You'll know that you're honoring the spirit of the CC licenses as the artists intended them to be.
2c- shikana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Please get your facts straight. You may be a friend of the Yotophoto creators, but that doesnt entitle you to bring personal issues into weighing up the pro's and con's of another great service. There are many services out there which are similar in nature .. but stealing .. come on .. the web is becoming one giant mash-up. Its a perfect example of ethos of 2.0 - share, collaborate and bring together.
As a designer I know how hard it is to find stock - and having an agregator like everystockphoto is brilliant - helping make our job that little easier. - TreborTD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, it sounds like the Yoto creators are simply failing and need some attention. A little too late for a dying site like Yoto....

Some are free some aren't. But they have tons more than most of the other sites. - yunfat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This site merely reinforces my theory that a picture is worth exactly what you pay for it. If it's worth nothing, it's worth nothing, aesthetically, technically, or otherwise.
A lot of people need to learn how to use digital cameras, and obviously people are still intimidated by them, or resources like this one wouldn't exist.
There is nothing on that site I couldn't take a picture of that is more than 30 minutes from my house, or would take me more than 5 minutes to procure. Hmmm... a bowl of spaghetti, I can order that and take a picture of it. A neon sign... a gumball machine... the list goes on an on... just buy a cheap digital and get the shot yourself, odds are it won't take you a lot of time and you are more likely to get better results.
Oh, and I forgot to mention you will get out of the house and have fun while doing it. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet
