- NoozeHound, on 05/04/2009, -1/+12Nice, but can't help thinking the more I looked at the more they all started to feel samey. I'm no web designer, but is there a cuurent thinking or trend in the market?
Liked Ceegraphics the best though I think. - inactive, on 05/04/2009, -2/+9Most of those are too busy, too "web 2.0" and totally unusable. They are so cookie-cutter "cutting edge" that they don't stand out, they just blend in. It's like the Art Institutes started offering web portfolio classes or something.
- MWeather, on 05/04/2009, -0/+7The problem with innovative designs is that users have no idea how to navigate them. Designers are the enemy of good designs.
- usbserial, on 05/04/2009, -0/+6I'm currently making my own portfolio so I found this helpful. But I agree with some of the others on here... some are actually too much... their expressiveness takes away from their bottom line. Keep it simple stupid. I guess there is a fine line to walk.
- mildlyEccentric, on 05/04/2009, -2/+7wow relax.
- loustylez, on 05/05/2009, -1/+490% of these are garbage.
- fatal616, on 05/05/2009, -0/+3They aren't horrible but none really scream out either. I have to agree with the above, keeping it simple is key.
- Seaseme, on 05/04/2009, -2/+5if you expect people to just magically contact you for work then.. no, you don't need one.
- bigaccident, on 05/04/2009, -1/+3all gimmick, no meat
- GalacticRerun, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2I like my portfolio. It's clean with a white background, a logo, some nice typogrophy and my work. It'd never get on one of these lists and I'm ok with that.
- collution, on 05/05/2009, -0/+2*of good usability.
- greenkermit, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1strangefruits.nl is a sweet site for awesome portfolios
- fatal616, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1its actually one of the trends right now. how do you dress????
- sp89, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Users from their site came and dugg it up.
- inactive, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Sadly, I often suspect they produce better people than most traditional BFA and MFA programs.
- ThatWebGeek, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1LMFAO - dugg just for the Art Institutes comment.
- MWeather, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Any design that is not usable is not a good design.
- alsazen, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Isn't the general look and feel of all these 'Web 2.0'?
I'd agree that the Ceegraphics one is the best, very distinct.
Speaking as a developer, not a design, is it just me or does no one really seem concerned about getting information on the front page for the user anymore?
Or is it just because the designs forget that no everyone has 24"+ monitors to run very high resolutions? - GalacticRerun, on 05/05/2009, -0/+1Who said he needs work? Does he even have anything to put in a portfolio??
- TapperJones, on 05/04/2009, -2/+2Power level :(
- jotjot, on 05/05/2009, -1/+1I love the creativity!
- IFail, on 05/04/2009, -3/+0The comma TOTALLY adds a new meaning to the headline....
Over 40, Beautiful Portfolios .... - Seaseme, on 05/04/2009, -7/+1Mirror?
- Djokuuskaj, on 05/04/2009, -16/+4WHY IS THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE!?!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
