- MrPresident13, on 11/19/2007, -7/+330Hey, grayscale a picture, slap some stripes over it, and you've got an illusion!

- lukee, on 11/19/2007, -3/+129It's not too hard to see the hidden image if you just... imagine.
- Subcranium, on 11/19/2007, -4/+120How close do you have to get to NOT see the face?
- troycott, on 11/19/2007, -2/+81I backed up, right out of my chair, and out of the room, out the front door. Whoa, there's actually a world out here besides Digg. Damn.
Dugg for causing me to realize my life is the illusion. - johnnycheeks, on 11/19/2007, -5/+66OW! OW! EYE RAPE!
- borninda818, on 11/19/2007, -6/+49Picture becomes clear after levels. Click if you want to see in more detail. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb244/borninda8 ...

- terminal157, on 11/19/2007, -3/+28Or flex that "muscle" (that's what it feels like, anyway) in your eyes that blurs your vision. I'm not the only one who can do that, right?
...right?
I AM A FREAK OF NATURE - zzzpoohzzz, on 11/19/2007, -6/+30dugg up for calling it potatoshop... haha
i'll probably get buried for saying a pointless comment but oh well... i just wanted you to know i thought it was funny :) - hadessniper, on 11/19/2007, -9/+31John Lennon is bigger then Jesus.
- xerus, on 11/19/2007, -12/+34This is what Digg has been reduced to. Ancient internet "illusions"
- gbarberi, on 11/19/2007, -11/+32Glad I read the comments, I had no idea who was depicted in the image.
- terracottapai, on 11/19/2007, -0/+20You have a 27 year old kitten?
- lateralus, on 11/19/2007, -4/+23If you squint it could be Yoko Ono too.
- GliTCH82, on 11/19/2007, -2/+20Not really an illusion. Same picture with the black stripes removed:
http://phaseonefl.com/not_an_illusion.jpg
It's not an illusion if the image is really there. Real illusions are only perceived to be there. - muffinmanpoo, on 11/19/2007, -3/+21I've reported your offensive comment.
- bluemist, on 11/19/2007, -4/+20I already saw it even if I don't move away further from the screen.
Am I awesome now? - christineplum, on 11/19/2007, -1/+15how is this an optical illusion? Its a picture with stripes laid over it!
- FishHammer, on 11/19/2007, -3/+17stare at it for 5 minutes and your eyes will be messed up for twice that long
- NSMike, on 11/19/2007, -0/+14It's easy if you try.
- Drood, on 11/19/2007, -9/+22It's exploiting the fact that the human brain will always try and find some recognisable pattern in anything would be my guess. Like how you can look at some curtains or a ceiling tile and think there's a face or whatever on it. My guess is there's slight color adjustments across the white space. (Too lazy to load up Potatoshop and check.)
- ophello, on 11/19/2007, -0/+12its an extremely low-contrast image of lennon with black bars over it. theres no magic pattern.

- Legato, on 11/19/2007, -0/+10its a scooner
- Vazel, on 11/19/2007, -0/+9hmm that method doesn't work on my monitor.
- ledmonkey, on 11/19/2007, -1/+10Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try... - homeagain1, on 11/19/2007, -1/+10Yes, it is. When you're close to the screen your brain is deceived to believe that the person is NOT there, so to speak. How is that not an illusion?
- Asianwaste, on 11/19/2007, -1/+10Shut the ***** up Donnie. V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!!

- SohailKhanifar, on 11/19/2007, -1/+7Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger Badger...etc
- egonSchiele, on 11/19/2007, -2/+8I expected jesus.
- Firehed, on 11/19/2007, -1/+7Believe it or not, being able to focus on more than one distance plane isn't unique to you.
- JoshuaH, on 11/19/2007, -2/+8I'm 17 and I knew right away.
