- slydingo, on 05/31/2009, -13/+385Buried as inaccurate, 1+1=2
- BraveLilToasta, on 05/31/2009, -5/+313Can you imagine stumbling into that warehouse? You'd be wondering wtf all that crap was doing there when it all sorta comes together have the ultimate wtf moment.
- gameboyhippo, on 05/31/2009, -2/+174You guys are thinking too hard. It's because art majors can't add. Duh...
- Battlecry, on 05/31/2009, -5/+139Why 1+1=3? I don't understand the message there.
- imakeartwork, on 05/31/2009, -4/+1251+1=3, greater than the sum of its parts.
- Tairnyn, on 05/31/2009, -4/+84The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.
- threon, on 05/31/2009, -1/+78Looks like a garage sale. $5.00 for the tire.
- lystig, on 05/31/2009, -1/+5511 = 3
- MercenaryMuffin, on 05/31/2009, -7/+57It is probably from the 2 +2 = 5 mind manipulation in the book 1984.
- Charlie1er, on 05/31/2009, -3/+41Are you serious?
1+1=3 is a famous equation to say "Together, we are stronger than alone" - inactive, on 05/31/2009, -4/+42You got it wrong!!!
We will never praise stupidity over art!!
or do we? - nathanp0515, on 05/31/2009, -7/+421+1 ≠ 3
- Myztry, on 05/31/2009, -1/+321 + 1 = a window
If you overwrite the characters correctly. (well, my son was impressed...) - BenTheTank, on 05/31/2009, -1/+31I would Digg you down for being fastidious, but 'elnerdo' is such a sweet name.
- AOmega, on 05/31/2009, -2/+32Yeah, I don't get it either. It would have been just as impressive with a mathematically correct expression.
- nothin2g, on 05/31/2009, -2/+32i dugg it, 3 times.
- elnerdo, on 05/31/2009, -4/+33Without specifying your number base, that's true of ANY number
11 = 746 in base 745
11 = 9 in octal
11 = 12 in base 11
11 = 17 in hexadecimal
11 = 11 in decimal
For this reason, I hate it when people try to be clever by using binary. - snake1025, on 05/31/2009, -2/+28I thought it was 1+1 = 10
- al13n, on 05/31/2009, -1/+25Imagine the look on their faces when they realise they did it all wrong...
- tymekpavel, on 05/31/2009, -2/+25mirror (just the pics): http://www.viewpic.org/hjdoz6/zc7v04/f05hd3/oktwly ...
- TheAverageMike, on 05/31/2009, -1/+23Buried for ignoring the point.
- BenTheTank, on 05/31/2009, -1/+21If this was anywhere but Digg, I would pretend to not understand that comment.
- imalumberjak, on 05/31/2009, -2/+22the derivative of a constant is 0
- Feraldr00d, on 05/31/2009, -2/+21I completely agree! I have a natural attraction to any art that manipulates perspective =)
- sonofabiscuit, on 05/31/2009, -2/+20No, 1 + 1 = two 1s
- KevenM, on 05/31/2009, -0/+14followed up by a second wtf moment when the janitor comes by and starts cleaning up the stuff lying around everywhere.
- awhiteflame, on 05/31/2009, -0/+13its
- JakeBC, on 05/31/2009, -2/+14I don't understand this new math.
- raisinbread, on 05/31/2009, -5/+16This would have been interesting if it looked like 1 + 1 = 2 at one angle, and 1 + 1 =3 at another angle.
- inactive, on 05/31/2009, -0/+11Someone mentioned it in a comment below, its the reference to the part of the book where he is being tortured to believe 2+2=5.
- opticwind, on 05/31/2009, -0/+11*****
- dazparkour, on 05/31/2009, -7/+171 + 1 = 10
- KooperG, on 05/31/2009, -0/+10you multi-account cheater!
- L0WR1D3R, on 06/01/2009, -1/+101+1 = 3
a = 1 ; b = 1
a = b
a - (3/2) = b - (3/2)
(a - 3/2)^2 = (b - 3/2)^2
a^2 - 3a + 9/4 = b^2 - 3b + 9/4
a^2 - 3a = b^2 - 3b
a^2 - b^2 = 3a - 3b
(a + b)(a - b) = 3(a - b)
a + b = 3
1 + 1 = 3
Q.E.D. - chadsmith729, on 05/31/2009, -6/+15Another win for the Digg dupe checker:

^^ Submitted 18 DAYS ago. - commenter01, on 05/31/2009, -1/+10not only that, the math is crap too. i'd spend all day just rearranging it so that the equation is true. otherwise, the universe will implode. can't have that happen.
- NegativeONE, on 05/31/2009, -0/+8Do you, poe? While m0laria should probably have used the article 'a' rather than 'the', so not to insinuate that it was the only derivative, he or she is not using that word in the sense of mathematics. It has a more general meaning, suggesting that 1 + 1 = 3 was conceived only because 2 + 2 = 5 existed first. It was *derived* from it.
As a side note, there's still really no reason not to use 2 + 2 = 5 if that's what the author was referencing. - bockyPT, on 05/31/2009, -1/+91+1=3 for extremely large values of 1.
- BKred, on 05/31/2009, -0/+8Congratulations! You got it!
- inactive, on 05/31/2009, -0/+8Rounded
1.4 + 1.3 = 2.7
1 + 1 = 3 - idiggitall, on 05/31/2009, -1/+9I disagree...has been done way better.
Example...
http://www.geckoandfly.com/2007/04/13/optical-illu ... - FattyMagee, on 05/31/2009, -0/+8If you had concatenated the values, yes...
If you add them you get 01 + 01 = 10 which is 2
- pr0lixity, on 05/31/2009, -2/+9Nice photo! An Orwellian play on perspectives, in my opinion.
- Jough, on 05/31/2009, -0/+7I would like to see what character you would use to represent (decimal)744 in base 745.
- christoast, on 05/31/2009, -0/+7That's it.
He better have more then 26 diggs when I wake up. - inactive, on 05/31/2009, -1/+7WTF?
- sashas, on 05/31/2009, -6/+12this is sick. Best 3d to 2d photography I've seen so far.
- threon, on 05/31/2009, -0/+6I'll give you 1+1+1+1=6
You owe me some change. - JammoBlammo, on 05/31/2009, -0/+6$5.25, and I'm not budging.
- fairmont72, on 05/31/2009, -0/+6Thank you. Gestalt.
