- csprech, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33is it just me, or are all cars starting to look the same?
- diulei, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29Looks a lot like the Lexus IS.

Not bad, though. - cyberwiz01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Mazda should give you $100 store credit.
- strictnein, on 10/10/2007, -14/+25Mazda is rebadging Toyota Camrys now?
- asskicker32, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7They all look the same because they are all midsize sedans. They all have similar designs, becuase that is what people are buying. I think this car looks more like the other cars in Mazda's line up than anything else in particular. I can see deisgn cues from the Mazda3, RX8 and the CX7, Ryuga, MX5 and other Concepts. I think it looks great.
Im also glad they kept the hatch. I thoguht they would have axed that... - McGuinness, on 10/10/2007, -6/+13Buried as spam. Notice the submitter only submits gizmodo/jalopnik.com links. Seems like a digg coup
- fuckinhell, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Looks better than the new Accord
- Tobark, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Ouch. Id rather drive the mazda.
- Rahodeb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It's not lazy designers, it's executives who are afraid of risk.
- SebG, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Looks very nice, i like it.
- apocelo42, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8It looks exactly like all the new Acura's and Honda's and probably at least one car from every other major manufacturer.
- ChoadNamath, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I think it looks much nicer than the current Mazda 6. This new one is much smoother and less wedge-shaped than the old one.
- rootstyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Oh you thought the Japanese were particularly original in their automotive designs before? Its been a catch up game with the Germans since the beginning. The ugly new BMW bangle-butt has appeared on Toyota (sorry Lexus *cough) and everything else. (Honda seems to be a tad more original atleast still)
- pixelbasic, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Everything is being designed by the optimal wind tunnel pattern. Same pattern. Same lame sedan exterior.
- FenrisUlf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5What, submitter isn't allowed to like gadgets and cars?
- munkyxtc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I have an '05; it's not like the cars are significantly different just like all cars; minor changes year to year; in a few years you can trade yours in and get a new one; all the '09 folks will be saying the same thing you are now...
- jhnewt, on 10/10/2007, -16/+19Yawn.
- simondotcalvin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7No way, a redesigned Mazda6! Can you believe it?
I haven't been this excited since Quaker redesigned it's oatmeal - RadiatedAnt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3this isn't software... remember it's a car! it goes vroom and said stuff... not crash at line 0xd0000 thats the drivers fault not the car.
- Sharky35, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wow,
It's the new Camry, Fusion, Altima, Maxima, Impreza, Malubu,.... look alike.
Radically Different MAN! - hifiDesign, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5It looks like...
Every other car out there. Lexus. Nissan. Honda. Whatever. They ALL look the same these days. Except Lancers. They look like Volvos now. Speaking of which, if you want a different looking car, check out the Volvo C30... Oh wait. Dammit. It looks like an Audi A3... - jackcrack7, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I love my current Mazda 6 but i'm not impressed with this new design.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5***** right on with this comment! designers are getting lazy
- one2gamble, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Considering Toyota stoll a lot of mazda's styling cues on their latest round of redesigns I would said all is fair in love and war.
- Azriel7, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6I have a Toyota Camry and that was the first thought in my mind.
- digiroam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's odd because when I first saw the new Camry model from the front, I thought it was a Mazda6. I actually had to look twice because the body was bigger. Same goes for the Lexus IS.
- GIFF3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3What about the speed6? Any update on that?
- forkqueue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Rather depends what sort of track - the 3 has ~260bhp but is FWD. The RX8 has ~230BHP and is RWD.
For a drag strip or oval the 3 will win. For a European style circuit, with corners, some of which turn left and some which turn right, the RX8 will win hands down any time, with the 3 understeering everywhere and unable to use its power.
If you look at TopGear's track times you'll see a normal 230ps RX8 is as fast around their track as a BMW M3. The M3 would destroy a Mazdaspeed 3 on an oval or drag race.
http://www.topgear.com/content/tgonbbc2/laptimes/thestig/
I have to declare my bias though - I'm an owner of a Prodrive special edition RX8. I'm pretty sure my car would be faster round a tight a twisty track like TopGear's than the M3, but unfortunately TopGear never tested one with Stig behind the wheel :( - motang, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Nice alright, I wonder if they are going to have it at the Auto Show later on this year.
- bjs3171, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3damn ***** right. you think we like drawing the same lines every day? christ.
- chodaboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Well hopefully they've made it a bit nimbler too. The current one feels heavy and much less "zoom zoom" than the Mazda3.
- Shiftgood, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Fact: The design team at Mazda are house cats that wear suits. And yes, they walk on two legs and gossip at the water fountain just like the rest of us... only you cant understand them... because you're not a cat.
- AeroSquid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1GIFF3: The Speed 6 is dead. It did not sell well and the Speed 3 spanked it in every aspect. From the looks of these new 6's the Speed 3 will still be Mazda's best and most exciting car.
The RX8 costs 10k+ more and can still lose to the speed 3 on a track. - mfearby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It doesn't look anything like the current Camry, which is dog ugly (and I've been a loyal Camry driver for ages). Perhaps you should get those cataracts removed from your eyes!
- Jorenko, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Can we get a 'cars' category for this type of stuff so that I can unsubscribe from it? The frequency of these types of posts has been increasing as of late, and I really couldn't care any less at all; cars all just look like cars to me.
- mfearby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Are you on drugs?
- paker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1x2
- AeroSquid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1hehe ok i forgot to mention that i'm biased as well as an owner of a Mazdaspeed 3 :) I know the RX8 has 230hp but how much torque? I would race your 8 @ the Ring, don't under estimate how the 3 handles ;) http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/16/mazdaspeed3-aims-to-beat-track-record-at-the-ring/
- invader, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Of course not.. You draw ridiculous concept cars so the executives have to fall back to the boring, middle-of-the-road back-up option.
At least they serve a purpose: They're the comedic relief of major car shows. We get to see goofy designs that will luckily never see the light of day, just the light of camera flashes. Then back to the real cars. - L33tmaster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have an '05 too! *high five*
- superkendall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2That's why I bought a MINI. At least I enjoy looking at it as I walk up to it. And I can find it in parking lots.
Lots of great looking cars from many makers, but almost none of them are sedans - like Pixel says, sedans end up going through the same engineering trials that end up with the same shape. - Sprules04, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Looks good, I like it. It's a mishmash of '08 Lancer, Camry, Lexus IS, and Altima in one.
- Yazilliclick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1To all those guessing what car it looks like here's the real answer. It looks like every other modern car. It's hardly exciting or revolutionary in any way shape or form. Not saying it looks bad, it doesn't, just hardly anything worth getting exciting over.
- bdbr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Japanese cars always looked the same.
- Tenoq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The styling has gone very generic - the original had a good Mazda feel and was something different. Nonetheless, the new one looks quite good, really. It should sell pretty well - excellent if the ergos, performance, etc are as class-leading as the original.
- xDibblerx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Which would be what? The Camry?
- baudbwoy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2looks like the 07 BMW...but alas its still a Mazda
- PostalRIT, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Did the same thing on Sat. But as munkyxtc said, they will be doing the same in a few years. You never wanna pick up a first year, new gen car anyways. They always have some bug they forgot.
- mightyarmenian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And that's why I like it.
