New Washing Machine Cleans With Plastic, Not Water
ecogeek.org — Water-efficient washing machines could be relics of the past should a new machine that uses plastic chips pan out. - alapoet, on 07/08/2008, -0/+12Worrisome thing is, solvents and plastic aren't the most environmentally friendly things, either.
FTA: "...what I have yet to find out is if the chips themselves are environmentally friendly, what they’re made of, and what happens to them after that 100th load." - crash331, on 07/08/2008, -0/+5I think I'll stick with the small amount of water my washer uses instead of a non-biodegradeable petroleum product.
- gobbstopp, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3sweet - now i can use my mastercard to buy credit for a machine that will wash my recycled plastic-composite undies in a petroleum solvent so i can be clean before i meet up with my silicone love-doll (after she's unwrapped and microwaved my dinner of course)

How can you only use 2% of the energy and still have enough force to make 1000's of plastic chips "absorb" stains? Why not just bang your clothes against a wall?
- dogearedboy, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2I just don't see how my pants pockets aren't going to be filled with little plastic chips.
