New Google Interface: Drop-down Menu
xs73.xs.to — I'm sure you guys have seen, probably first-hand, the new Google interface with an apparent relevancy meter on the left side. http://digg.com/links/Picture_of_new_google_interface_ This is an image of a drop-down menu, on a search page, that may be in the works.

- mikm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't have that here.
- 5m0k3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That is precisely why I linked to an image, rather than a google search results page. :)
- haigMeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9We cant trust this; you have CustomizeGoogle installed...who knows what you've done ;)
- balazs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3that's exactly what i thought!
- streetblader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah and greasemonkey could do this too
- comeonpriitk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's not even sorted alphabetically.
- eightounces, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would they sort it alphabetically? It makes more sense to have them in order of usage.
In terms of usability, I have to say the dropdown menu is unbelievably better than just having links to different pages. The rest of whatever this guy has going on is a mess for the most part, but the dropdown itself really just makes it easier to switch your search area w/o reloading the page.

- gexplorer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1One day a while ago I entered google and that box was there, I was suprised so I reload the page and it dissapears, and no, I don't have any extension. I suppose that google is making tests of a new interface and they made some little error.
- furtwan1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3am I the only one thinking "who gives a *****?"
seriously, what's new on this page again? Looks like a slighly different skin for the same over-hyped website I've seen for years. Oh wow, a relevancy meter. Google is sooo innovative, who would have thought to use a METER! - DubbleA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't think that is real. Google, being the company it is, probially does closed tests of new fetures b4 uploading them to the main site. You can get a site and fetures to work on your own computer. It is like a "Preview in Browser" thing.
- fdemmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that sucks. i dont have it (yet?) but it is a bad design decision if it comes. dropdown boxes are slow. its much faster to just click an "image" link or button to change the search type.
- pancho1986, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's an hoax like one guy said before
look at the guy, have the fireworks application open
it's an graphic editor if you don't know it yet
the start button was totally hacked
and look at the winamp taskbar button it doesn't have any letters
are covered with a badass gradient
i think it's a photo trick. sorry it will be great if google implement that dropdown menu, anyway
my frist comment i didnt know this page before but anyway
