NO!SPEC Launches

no-spec.com — The mission of NO!SPEC is to educate both clients and Visual Communication designers (also known as 'graphic' designers) about the nature of speculative, or "spec" work. It also serves as a vehicle to unite designers who support the notion that spec work devalues the potential of design and ultimately does a disservice to the client.

Spec hurts us all, so we will now enlarge our mission to include the other professions surrounding Visual Communication Design.
  • vikia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very important issue to educate designers on not devaluing or undervaluing their skills. Designers have a value in the commercial market. There are many so called contest sites and logo farms that prey on hungry designers who are believe that this will help to build their portfolio. These sites just want to pay the lowest price they can get away with while charging their clients 3 to 4X to profit on your designs. They are parasites.
