Seriously though, I've been in probably 6 apartments in the past 10 years and my favorite shower head was just a nub on the end of the pipe that pushed out water pressure similar to those turbo charged hand driers. One day I dream of taking the world back from these douchebags that have convinced everyone that "cascading" or "raining" water is the best way to take a shower. Unless the "cascade" is Niagra Falls or the "rain" is Hurricane ***** Katrina and gale-force winds, I'm not interested. I want my shower to be a pressure-washer, or a water version of a sand blaster....
- Chairboy, on 03/01/2009, -1/+16I built a rain shower from PVC last year as a fun project. Easy to do with stuff I had around the house for halloween costumes and whatnot, so I began cutting & gluing & drilling. When I was done, I had a basic rectangle with an adapter to hook to a shower hose. My one purchase was a diverter valve so I could switch between it and a normal shower head. There were hundreds of holes drilled in it, and it made a pretty acceptable shower mist.
Time to decorate! So I visited the hardware store to grab some paint. I had a number of different colors to choose from, including, I was surprised to find, 'copper' and 'brass'. It was tempting to go with brass. After all, that might take my silly white plastic pipe and make it look borderline respectable for the hard of seeing.
But then I realized that there was only one appropriate color for the project. Chuckling quietly to myself, I grabbed the gold paint and went home and painted it. I made a point of telling wife which color I had picked, and it took her a couple days before she finally got it.
