- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -9/+78is this supposed to be a hint that Vista will "freeze up" a lot?
- creep303, on 10/12/2007, -4/+661998 called, they want their stupid replacement of S with $ back.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+62It's a pretty good attempt, too. It really places emphasis on the Aero theme.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Why do anything? The universe is just going to end some day.
- DnH500, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42everyone wants a windows nt 4.0 tshirt! >_>
- Lixie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38I could think of cheaper method of cooling an overclocked PC...maybe one that doesn't give you frostbite.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -6/+43Damn...replacing the S with a dollar sign. That's pretty clever. Way to stick it to the man!
EDIT: Awww, Creep beat me to it. I wanted to be the first to mock! - simonfl, on 10/12/2007, -5/+41If it's in Toronto, why the hell is the web site in Russian?

- swoosh_bnd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33The reason you don't see an Xbox 360 in there is because it'd melt the whole place down.

- MicahC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28The Fortress of Solitude was built by Microsoft?!?
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29Superman must've hit some hard times if he's renting it out like this.
- redxii, on 10/12/2007, -10/+34Kernel.org has set up a PayPal donation to build their own ice house.
Microsoft's deadline for donations for the ice house was... wait, they didn't need donations.
Apple's ice is incompatible with "regular" ground. Apple ice only works if the ground displays the Apple label. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Use spell check, dammit!
;-) - purple, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26It can be used to refreeze a part of the house that looks like it's going to melt, and/or collapse.

- rupprupp29, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Why can't people just enjoy these pictures for what they are instead of ripping on Microsoft?
- eMadman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17i don't know why it's in Russian, but it definately was in Toronto. The location is Dundas Square and is frequently used for various marketing activities. Remember Smashmyps3? That was done here as well. My campus is just around the corner from the subway stop here :)
- Lacanuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It was put together by a company called Ice Effects here in Toronto. It took four months to freeze all of the ice and a week to build it in place. They had an air conditioner running to keep the inside temperature at -3C. The pictures also don't show the ice bathroom, complete with an ice bathtub, ice sink and faucet, an ice tube of toothpaste and a mirror in the shape of the Windows logo. Because I'm a Microsoft MVP, I was lucky enough to spend a day meeting, greeting and answering questions of the people who came through. Over the course of 9 hours, around 2000 people or so came through in a fairly steady stream.

- Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Looks like its already gone...I would have jacked one of the blocks that had the logo in it.
- drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Cool.
I, for one, am sold!
My next toaster, is gonna be a Microsoft! - Raian, on 10/12/2007, -12/+20The best part of those pictures shows what Microsoft did with the ice house after-- which is dump it under the Gardiner Expressway.

No, it's attracting dumbasses that don't even know that the ***** page has NO TEXT TO BE TRANSLATED AT ALL. :-) - jakobahman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9@wmarcello
The original is way better. http://www.icehotel.com/Winter/Icehotel/Art/2007/2/
Located in northern Sweden. - TiCooper, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11well... the majority of the structure is obviously gone (see the last of the pics), plus i doubt Microsoft would rent Dundas square for "several" months. Plus, just because it is in Canada doesn't mean it would last until June or something ridiculous. Toronto barely gets snow that lasts more than a few days, it usually just turns to slush and melts pretty quickly.
That said, the ice house is cool. Say what you want about Microsoft, but I doubt very much that the office works from Microsoft Canada were out there arranging blocks of ice and making chairs out of it. Obviously some very skilled artists and craftsmen created the entire ice house. So was it really Microsofts attempt at being creative? or Microsoft hiring some very gifted artists to create a unique launch event? Which in itself is sorta creative i guess.... - CodyBrown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is actually awesome.*
* this is coming from an apple fan boy - speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Russian people really seem to like emoticons.
- wmarcello, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Think that's cool? Take a look at Quebec City's Ice Hotel.

- jackminardi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Apparently they readers there can only communicate in smilies...
- AReallyGoodName, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8CO2 extinguishers (the most common type by far) contain liquid CO2 which is vapourised and expelled at well below 0.
- mrwiggles123, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Wonder how much that MS ice block woulda sold for on ebay
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think the Office toaster was pretty hilarious.
"Microsoft Office: Your Documents Are Toast!" - xtremesniper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What's funny is that just across the street (literally) some linux geeks set up a giant inflatable linux penguin. You can see it here: http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/07/02/04/?s=d76a7783f0e077a9ffc9dbe628780997&
- nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Apple would never do a house like this. The fan boys would be melting the ice with all the wanking.
- thewhitefedora, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Because it's so hard to see Russian pictures.
