- Cancerkitty, on 11/07/2008, -11/+547I don't care for it. It's pretty unidentifiable.
- fflis, on 11/07/2008, -6/+405I like the old ones much better. Logos shouldn't have faded edges, the should be crisp identifiable.
- Kronich, on 11/07/2008, -15/+405Mastercard rebranding: $1.2 million
Mastercard rebranding FAIL: Priceless - chicagojack, on 11/07/2008, -17/+232That they will go bankrupt in a year
- catwoman2970, on 11/08/2008, -1/+188I don't like it AND I don't get it.
- JakeKreber, on 11/08/2008, -4/+137Does anyone else think that middle circle looks like a condom?
- y2kery, on 11/08/2008, -4/+126Unidentifiable? It says MasterCard in big letters.
- doublsh0t, on 11/08/2008, -1/+121Wait, why isn't the biggest circle centered? What idiot advertising/marketing agent thought that'd be a good twist on the logo?
- uiguy3, on 11/08/2008, -1/+99Changing one of the most recognizable logos in the world into one the average person would barely recognize...priceless.
- Vich, on 11/08/2008, -0/+94It's unbalanced, this unsettles me.
- digggggggggg, on 11/08/2008, -3/+95It's worse than the new pepsi logo.
- bixby1, on 11/07/2008, -34/+119A man once had his credit card was stolen, but he decided not to report it. The thief was spending less than his wife did.
Oh, and Mastercard is a steaming pile... - inactive, on 11/08/2008, -1/+75I think what he means is that their "logo" is just a bunch of blury circles that any ***** with 10 minutes of Photoshop training could make.
Given the change from small dashed lines to bigger dashed lines between 1990 and 1996, they arnt the most creative... - schrankage, on 11/07/2008, -13/+85you had me at master...
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -4/+71Dugg for being such a prick
- RodneyJason, on 11/07/2008, -4/+69So thats why my grandma always called her MasterCard MasterCharge... ive always wondered but never knew why
- idavidtang, on 11/08/2008, -2/+65I accidentially the rebranding.
- Junior612, on 11/08/2008, -1/+63Venn Diagram card!
- Kohaxx, on 11/08/2008, -2/+52The fact that the white transparent circle is offcenter is driving me insane. It's like the red and the yellow circle are making kissy faces and some ghost dude jumped in the way of the picture.
Why don't they just put nipples on the red and yellow circle and call it good? - ophello, on 11/08/2008, -0/+45http://www.mastercard.com/index.html
It doesnt look like they're using it, so wtf is this *****? - Bodminzer, on 11/08/2008, -2/+47Reminds me of a helicopter, over the sea, boiling into nothing. A banker looks on, riding a swan ascending to the highest heavens.
- snapplecap, on 11/08/2008, -0/+38yea the 3rd circle makes it look wierd
- jkahrs595, on 11/07/2008, -2/+40The newest one should be someone getting all of their stuff repo'd.
- inactive, on 11/08/2008, -0/+37I like INTERBANK.
- LAmandingo, on 11/08/2008, -0/+34You probably remember Noah filling up a large boat too!
- ExSlashdotter, on 11/08/2008, -1/+32just a bad idea for usability's sake. Seriously, they need a logo thats still identifiable in a ONE-COLOR printing process. Think white ink on dark plastic. Or vinyl-cut decal on store window.
Too many layers and transparency in that vector for it to be effective considering all the places it will need to be printed. - digggggggggg, on 11/08/2008, -0/+31Yes, that's exactly it - logos have to be versatile. The old ones were recognizable from far away, or printed very small. I can't say the same for the new one.
- CJArgus, on 11/08/2008, -0/+29I don't like it.
- shotgunefx, on 11/08/2008, -1/+29Visually? Yes. You look back at 40yrs of logo and you don't have to even focus on it to know it's "Mastercard", not like I give a ***** either way, but to have that kind of recognition takes a long time.
This new one looks like *****, ohh, it's got gradients and a big fuzzy condom looking thing off center. If they want to project "worldwide", work in a map projection onto the globes or something, or the logo within a globe, but this just looks like blurry crap - emt1451, on 11/08/2008, -1/+27Hideous.
- tophomeloan, on 11/07/2008, -4/+29It is supposed to represent the mastercard symbol taking over the world; however, it looks like *****..
A big steaming pile of it. - Darand, on 11/08/2008, -0/+23It's been the Venn Diagram card since 1969
- oblique63, on 11/08/2008, -3/+26MASTER!
Master of Puppets controlling your strings... - inactive, on 11/08/2008, -0/+22Why screw around with one of the most identifiable logos on the planet? Whose ego is getting stroked over there?
- FriedTurkey, on 11/08/2008, -3/+25Heh heh....boobs.
- Tyrghast, on 11/08/2008, -4/+26MasterCard's new slogan "We ***** you guys good, huh?"
- teh_techie, on 11/08/2008, -1/+23masturcard
- Jeffler, on 11/08/2008, -1/+23Yeah, they left it on the logo and proceeded to rape us without it
- jlan, on 11/08/2008, -3/+25are you crazy, credit cards are making a killing. profits up over 30% this year.
- TheCoreh, on 11/08/2008, -1/+22Seriously, why the ***** are companies so obsessed on changing already established and good looking logos?!
- JDoorjam, on 11/08/2008, -0/+21Sadly, that's probably pretty close to the PR firm's actual pitch on this logo.
- NOFXY, on 11/08/2008, -2/+23meh?
- JakeKreber, on 11/08/2008, -1/+21facepalm.jpg @ mirror for an image hosted on flickr.
- digggggggggg, on 11/08/2008, -1/+20Are you kidding me? The new pepsi logo looks gawdawful.
- str1fe, on 11/08/2008, -0/+18The WHOLE rebranding?
- Vich, on 11/08/2008, -7/+25Because the old logo is better.
If they wanted to rebrand, they should have just jazzed up the old logo:
http://i35.tinypic.com/oid8vr.png
15mins in Inkscape - catinthebox, on 11/08/2008, -3/+20The logo redesign was why they wanted a bailout.
- NinjaPirateDude, on 11/08/2008, -0/+17twisting your mind and smashing your dreams!
- haydesigner, on 11/08/2008, -3/+1999.9% of the time, a gradient in a logo is a bad, bad idea.
This does nothing to change my opinion regarding that. -
