- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+91When you complete a line of ice cubes, would they melt instantly?
- xtmno3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+66Very nifty.
I think an equally good idea would be Tetris ice cube trays. See how many ice cubes you can get in a glass. - garyfranz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29they need a piece you set on the top of the tray to create holes on the other side, that way you can build things, THEN i would so buy a couple sets
- dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31I think they're just ment for visual thing.
I can't believe you're so bitter over waffles.... - Railer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29xtmno, your idea is so much better then the Lego, Imagine Tetris ice, a little food coloring and a rectangular glass, I found the glass.

Colored Tetris ice and a bit a scotch, classic for all us older gamers. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29no holes in back for ice sculptures. this sucks
- zulhadm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25The one problem with the design is you don't have the holes on the other side of the ice so you can't stack them :(
...dig me down I JUST saw garyfranz' post - LunchB0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21The idea that you tried to build something out of your waffles made me chuckle.
- LunchB0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Yeah you can, get two of more trays and stack them, the indents pass to the lower blocks. use the flat bottom bricks on the top tray as your base. The trays are flexable silicone.
- pbaehr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17The waffles were retarded. The holes on the front didn't line up to the holes on the back so you couldn't actually build anything...they just looked sort of like Legos.
Reading on to republick's comment, these would suffer from the same flaw as the backs will be flat...they need to make some sort of press system so the backs can be indented. - dustedbunny, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Eggo waffles actually had lego shaped waffles that were out for a while. They were fun. These look pretty awesome too but $8 for an ice cube tray? Don't think so. ;)

Salt & Pepper shakes. hehe. :) - Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Lego Igloo's competitions coming this winter.
- crispytreat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11How will the blocks connect? They will not have the holes on the bottom. Maybe if you stack the trays before you freeze them?
- mebob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yeah, kinda disappointing.
If they connected you could make a jelloshot brick wall! - friend18, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8WOW! Perfect for poor Alaskans!
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+7how would you crack these? am i the only one that has enough trouble getting a whole piece of ice out of a regular tray, muchless one with all sorts of delicate shapes on the end
- malice8691, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9No Holes! No Digg
- skoobisnaxs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6notice the artist drawing of the ice? Im sure it doesnt look that cool. i have a hard time thinking that the top of the blocks will form well enough for someone to recognize it as a lego piece and not a normal piece of ice. I could be wrong....
- LunchB0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That is the single greatest idea ever posted to Digg. Stack the trays to get holes in the back and I'm so building a jello shot wall for my halloween party.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@MattM462
TetrIce? - mrynit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7sweet! now girls will come to my parties because i have ice in the shape of legos!!
- Eazy~e, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5JELLO blocks! Nuf said.
- Ndiggnation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Star Wars parties? :) j/k Couldn't resist.
- ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I believe it is a silocone tray so they probably slide out pretty easily.
(already mentined above - beat me to it!)
Also - for the 70% of the people who have posted the same "no holes" comment I have an idea for you: It's called buy TWO trays and stack them on top of each other. The top tray should create the holes you so desperately need in one set of cubes. The top set will of course have no holes but they can bet the bottom peices.
I'm so smart I sometimes astound even myself. : /
Oh and I almost forgot: NO HOLES!! - tsukiyo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think it's a flexible silicone mold, so I think you can flex them out easier.
- MacGyver2210, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Use the hottest water you can - just short of boiling - this makes the ice smoother and clearer due to some chemical or physical property of water....pretty sure I slept through that chemistry lecture.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7great idea but way overpriced.
- glafira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love these, just wait people at my parties, just wait.....
- tsukiyo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4But... How would they conn...
Wait, this is getting redundant... - Tullamore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats pretty cool
- johnkeyes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm trying to make a joke of getting leg(o)less but it's just not working.
- nfph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone know where I can find just a plain red t-shirt with a Lego logo on it? I realize I could make one, but I'd much rather just throw money at it.
- orrd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How to Make Clear Ice by heating the water first so dissolved air is removed:
http://hunkinsexperiments.com/pages/waterparttwo.htm - Railer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@PrincessSalami
God Bless Goggle, with out it I might have to do something positive with my days off. :P - Aethra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Be still my bleeding wallet.
- ator1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You could use Legos to make the mold for the tetris ice cubes. Just seal the outer edges of the lego tray, inner slivers be damned!
- deanau, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why did this take so long?
- ConcernedCanuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What’s funny Railer is that you did a search on rectangular glass...
I do like the idea of Tetris ice cubes however... if only I were more enterprising...
:( - teesa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can't be serious. In order for it to form ice it would have to (at some point) reach the same temperature as your regular tap water. I can't imagine it retains its boiled properties while in the freezer.
Did you sleep through all of your chem lectures? - MattM462, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, tetris ice would be awesome!
- markkater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I actually bought a pair of these a few weeks ago... they're expensive, but oh well... when you think of all the millions of FREE legos you can create with this, it's well worth it! :)
Anyhow, I also thought that they wouldn't stack, but when I tried it, the icecubes sorta "stuck" together... which actually works pretty well! So yeah, not able to stack, but it will stick!
(oh yeah, and did anyone think of the possibilities when using JELLO!? :-) ) - mumblingmynah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Imagine if they did stack, and if you could combine them with regular plastic blocks. You could build some sort of time-based construction, that would fall apart when the ice melted.
- Enhyven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2they would need holes in the bottom if they were to be built up into a sculpture...
- lilmoocow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ha, that's so cool. Kinda pointless, but that's what great about it.
- purrhos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Along a similar vein --- I have been toying with an idea to hot melt bits of store bought licorice into animal shapes. Found that the good & cheap stuff does not 'melt' in a microwave, but softens. Perhaps a micro-wave-able treat and mold yourself kit would be cool for little ones. Sugar free and organic, of course......
- MYarms, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3you wouldn't even be able to connect them to each other :(
- Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Soon there are gonna be some nifty icy build lego creations on digg.
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i'm just wondering how well these ice cubes would break out of the ice tray. probably not too well. :(
i know. i'm a downer. sorry. :P - alej744, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1At least 5 people have already said that, shut up...
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Animal-shaped licorice. Sugar-free, animal-shaped, organic licorice, in fact. No offense, but you might as well mold piles of dog crap into landscapes and set the table with it, you'll have just as much luck getting some kid to eat it.
