- BonhamsGhost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Welcome to Earth. Believe it or not people also get paid to play sports, and they do alright for themselves. It's called a "skill"
- Rayor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12By definition, you are a professional at something if you get paid to do it.
- jaythree9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Have you ever head of...the Cartoon Network/ Disney/ Pixar/ Comic books/ Comics in the newspaper/ Illustrations in all your favorite magazines and books/ Technical and scientific drawings/ Flash animations/ Storyboard artists? All professional. There is probably more of a demand for cartoonists/illustrators than ever.
- timxpx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i need to buy a tablet.
- KyleMistry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Now you know.
Also, the earth revolves around the sun. Just thought you might need to know that as well. - silentarcher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Maybe some of these names will ring a bell: Da Vinci, Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh... do I need to say more? And if you don't think painters count, what about Charles Schultz?
- deivys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The comic strip about Bush TV it's freaking hilarious.
- dsitvarin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bruce Blitz, most likely.
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I remember Commander Mark :)
- MobbyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah that's him. I used to watch it too. He's had a few good books on the subject as well.
- MikeDawg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I remember there used to be a guy that had a show on PBS, where he would teach (it seemed as if it was aimed at younger kids, but didn't necessarily have to be) people how to draw cartoons, and different styles of cartoons. Good times, coming home late and night, turning on the TV at 4:00 AM and catching this guy on PBS.
- seraph1el, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, I'm danish, so "HOW TO DRAW POLITICAL CARTOONS" doesn't *really* appeal to me... I'm just gonna skip this one.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So does Daryl Cagle. I tried the 21" Wacom at Siggraph and it's awesome. Now if they made a lightpen that felt more like a Rapidograph...
- seraph1el, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like how people don't read the article before commenting:
------------------------------------------------
"DECEMBER 5, 2006
HOW TO DRAW POLITICAL CARTOONS
I get lots of e-mails from aspiring cartoonists asking questions about how I draw my cartoons......."
------------------------------------------------
Can you see the big letters saying "HOW TO DRAW POLITICAL CARTOONS"?
Yes, that's right, they do say "HOW TO DRAW POLITICAL CARTOONS". - akinder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's an unfortunate last name
- Badaudio, on 12/24/2007, -0/+1*****.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Just make a Wii game out of the tutorial.
- tmiller51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, Blitz on Cartooning, I used to love that show!
- Johannesrexx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So I wonder if Dubya had the CIA tap this guy's phone too ?
- frantic24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1always great to see a successful professional take time out to share his artistic knowledge, talent, and skills to other fellow artists. thank you.
- codyfrisch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yup what this guy is doing is fairly typical now days. when you have a scanner that can convert your line art in pencil to look just like it was inked (or better), what purpose is there in putting that effort and expense into inking?
as he said some are going all digital, which is great however some prefer the feel of paper. most the artists i work with on a regular basis still do their drawing on paper then color in Painter or Photoshop.
I guess its time for me to start working on improving my drawing skills. - erichines, on 06/02/2008, -0/+0digital art has come a long way, I remember in the early 90s I was still cutting stuff and setting it up on a board to take a photo then sending it to print!
I can see why a log of artists are using their computers more often, makes it easier and faster to draw.
Learn how to draw anything http://www.thegluckmethod.com - pwillis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, he puts us inkers and colorists out of work by using a computer...
Why I aughta.....[cartoonist holds up kangaroo which kicks the inker][kangaroo stands on inkers foot and pummels head with boxing gloves] [kangaroo bounces away. Anvil falls from no-where onto inker] [followed by 1000 TON lead weight]
"....OK! I give up....What are you doing with that giant hammer? "[cartoonist whacks inker with giant hammer]
[Inker is now accordion shaped and staggering around] [cartoonist pulls large orchestral symbols and smashes inker between them]
"Mommy!" [cartoonist takes out giant bellows and blows inker out of frame]
[music] - Badaudio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1too bad i said title or description, not article
- Badaudio, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I like how it says political no where in the title or description.
- seraph1el, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Well.. your stupidity still shines through - I win.
- pixmod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://duggmirror.com
- pauly1980, on 10/12/2007, -29/+2A "professional" cartoonist eh. Didn't know drawing was a profession.
